If a persons haemoglobin drops below 5 and has low iron will blood transfusion be safe for them? Does it increase mortality?

Severe iron-deficiency anemia may require blood transfusion, iron injections, or intravenous (IV) iron therapy. Treatment may need to be done in a hospital. Please consult with your doctor for best treatment option urgently.

Thank you for your question. clerical error means error during writing or copying. Example: Wrong blood group may be written on the requisition form by the staff as a mistake. Therefore it is important to check relevant documents before blood transfusion.
