I believe you said what needed to be said. Also please read all the comments before asking the same thing that was already answered. Nobody should have to answer the same question over and over again. Thank you Delonda I appreciate all you do and the time and effort you put into these videos. Most all of the wonderful attitude you have.
Oh yes Delonda when I first started sublimation there were not all these craft groups I had to research and google information on my own. I find some people starting out don’t do this or the same questions are being asked that could have been googled. I’m glad for your video. Thank you.
Thank you. Just happened across your channel and I am just starting and can get overwhelmed with so much. I love what you said “finish my projects” before jumping to the next and “write down my project material list” so I can perfect it. Appreciate you!
Hey!!! You are so right! I misspelled a word before and pressed it on my shirt and wore that bad boy out to a kids game. The word was "believe ", but I spelled it belive 😂. It's a nightshirt now. Thankfully I had my crossbody bag and covered it up. Word check is powerful. Only my husband noticed it.😊
Number 10 is so me but i don't know that i could write that all down because my brain doesn't function that way i have ADHD so it's jumps from one thing to another but i usually get things done in the long run
I agree with you. I have a friend that is constantly asking me to make things or show her how to make things with my Cricut. When I tell her how much I charge she gets quiet. She is has a business and she wants to get paid for her services and so do I, I think she feels because we are friends she thinks I should do things for her for free. I don't feel that I should just give away the knowledge that I have researched and spent countless hours on trial and error to learn.
Interesting. I've never thought of charging for assistance. When I started crafting it was engrained in me that crafters are sharers...we share knowledge, experience, time and materials. I've been crafting over 40 years and cannot think of a time when someone asked me to pay them for assistance/troubleshooting. I feel like people helped me along the way so why not give back. Curious about others' thoughts on that.
I agree with almost everything.. BUT I see nothing wrong with asking for help or advise. Google doesn't answer everything amd there is nothing better than experience
Agree but its easy to ask vs taking the time to research. Half the stuff some ppl ask that Ive seen (in many FB groups) can easly be put in YT search bar.
And I'm quite sure she's not talking about those type of questions. She's referring to the the type of beginner questions that get asked 100000 million times in the groups that can easily answer your question by scrolling through the groups to look or using the search feature in the Facebook groups and typing the same question and you'll see tons if post pop up with the same question being answered over and over. She not referring to more intricate questions that Google won't fully explain or answer
From a recently retired educator to another former teacher, this is exactly what we work on with students. It is so easy to ask for an answer, but learning how to FIND the answer for oneself is far more beneficial. Oh, as a lifelong crafter, I always have projects I don’t finish, but I generally go back to them later! I thoroughly enjoy your videos which demonstrate your fantastic teaching skills. A+ to you!
My oh my! Yes!! I always search and search before I even ask!! Unless I hit a dead end from MULTIPLE searches on RU-vid and Google, then I get desperate and ask! 😅
When my 12-year-old asks me random questions about things that interest him, a lot of times I tell him to research. I have done this since he was little, by the time he was in first grade, he knew more about the Titanic then I ever did.
Thanks for the nuggets! I’m guilty of #10. I have also went and purchased items I already had because of my discombobulated craft space. The SPELLING has me clutching my pearls often as an educator!!! I love your transparency and realness but most importantly your heart for helping others. There’s not many people out there that will share their knowledge and experience without being paid. I appreciate you ❤
That’s why I don’t sell anything, I love being a student of the crafting world. I’m extremely tech savvy and I love all things electronic, however, it kills me when folks forget how printers work and don’t know what size paper it uses. But I love answering a lot of the questions too. So it’s bittersweet for me. But everything you said was straight facts!
The Bible says, we have not because we ask not and I believe that. Let me start here, if someone doesn't want to share what they know or what they have they are completely free to say no however, that doesn't mean people should not ask. People just want to get started and do good. Sis, the things that you are telling people to STOP asking you should probably say STOP asking you, you can not speak for everyone. Most of the things stated in this video are based on your opinion. I have watched you from a humble beginning to become somewhat arrogant. Your facial expressions and your talking points as you give your opinion to veiwers is a little sarcastic. I've watched videos where you have messed up (which is ok) and no one has said to you, Stop making how to videos if you don't know how to. I just thought this was unnecessary and the fact that you kept saying the word offended made me know you were aware that you were offensive. We are to encourage one another because no one is perfect. I just feel that if your goal was to help, you could have delivered your message a better way. If I was a new Cricut user I would be discouraged. God has blessed you to enlarge your crafting space, to have free items sent to you, to connect with people that are guru's in crafting that you didn't know and who didn't know you in the beginning of your journey, and the Lord has increased your audience but we are to always remain humble .... remember that we are blessed to be a blessing!
@@CraftingwithDelondaI grit my teeth the whole time I watched this video. Not because I disagreed with the sentiments but because of the tone and it didn’t sound like you. I have a saying and it is “Don’t paint the world with your brush.” By that, I mean empathy is key. You are educated and possess a level of experience. You are an educator and as educators we educate instead of rebuke. It hurt my heart to see someone say they were discouraged by your video because it means they were unable to hear your heart. I believe one of the barriers was that every phrase started with stop. “Stop asking for svgs”and “if you can’t afford an svgs you should not be crafting.“ Yikes! What if crafting is keeping them alive and it’s the only thing positive in their life? I’d rather be asked. Luke 6:38 Give and it shall be given to you. A good measure, pressed down shaken together and running over, will be poured in your lap. FOR WITH THE MEASURE YOU USE, IT WILL BE MEASURED TO YOU. James 4:2 You have not, because you ask not. Without going through every point, the “advice” doesn’t seem to take into account the abilities or inabilities of certain groups of people. If you are ten toes on your video then I respect it. My goal was not to tell you you’re wrong but perhaps introduce a different perspective for thought. Thank you for all you do.
I love it!! I see people asking for stuff all the time that I don't understand how are you doing a craft and you don't know how to do basic stuff.... your phone is a computer... research!!. Great job!!!! Thank you!!!
#10 is definitely a big one for me. I will buy items because they are on sale with the intention of completing a project, but then I see something else I want to make. Thanks for the advice. I appreciate you being honest with us and wanting to see us succeed in a positive manner. You are truly an ordained teacher 😊
I apologize I don't feel as if we ask someone about a font, we just like it, it doesn't necessarily say we are going to duplicate. The rest of your facts are spot on.
During lockdown here in the UK I had to go into the “shielding” mode, see no one, go nowhere etc etc and I fell into the “must try ALL the crafts” rabbithole. Everything you said had me nodding my head. My absolute bugbear is seeing posts in FB groups like “I’ve just got an order for 50 t shirts, how do I do them?” I want to stamp my feet and say if you have to ask how to do a t shirt, why on earth are you taking orders? Just why? Now I’m off to finish some unfinished items, I’ll be good 🤣
I am mentally applauding you. This is literally everything I’m constantly thinking when I see these things over and over. I am amazed how often people just buy stuff and haven’t done any research too. These things are big purchases and they just buy then start asking stuff they should’ve found out if they’d actually researched the product they were buying before parting with money
AMEN ALL MY TOYS COST TOO MUCH FOR ME NOT TO USE THEM. ALL OF MY PRINTERS/ PRESSES/ARE OVER 600.00 IN PRICE.AND I HAVE MORE THAN ONE OF EACH IN MY SHOP AND AT MY HOME.
I have been crafting for 20 years. You hit it right on the money. I am so guilty of # 10 all these years later. Love your idea of the journal. Thank you. You said it all so nicely, and I hope people hear and identify themselves instead of taking offense in what you are saying.
I watched 2 of your videos. This is the second one. I have been crafting for 20 years. I have asked questions, I have misspelled words! I have never watched a RU-vid channel that the Influencer, or the Crafter made such a video as this. I find it petty, and shaming for the people who follow you. Your 160K subscriber's helped you to achieve your success as a Crafter/Influencer. No-one is perfect, and askinh a question is part of learning new things, or possibly something you may have forgotten. I want be watching anymore of your videos. I will not be subscribing. Your Crafting Halo sits to high on your shoulders. Your subscribers should unsubscribe, it might just "Help" you see how they "helped" you grow your channel while they were asking all those questions.
I will put you in my prayers and hope that you see what is wrong with this video. I watch RU-vid change people all of the time as they become irritated by their subscribers, followers, community, whatever they have built. Annoyed by the people who may have assisted in one's success. It is not always what you say, but how you say it. Think Gal. 5:22-23. Insulting the misuse of someone's words was unnecessary because you do not know their story. I sell many things that I just learned to make. Why is that wrong to you? It is not rocket science. There are people who ask a lot of questions. It can actually save time and does not mean that they do not know how to research. There are people who share everything. It is fine if you are not one of those people. You can just kindly say that you do not feel comfortable sharing someone else's work and keep moving. I hope that you get the results that you want out of this video.
Great advice! My favorite “Stop” is number 10. I go through phases of all sorts of crafts from making desserts for special occasions like a wedding cakes to resin to lasers to 3d printing to vinyl to screen printing all in the same week😮 When I plan and make a to do list, my projects turn out so much better and it keeps the gray out of my hair. Trello is a great online project tool. Not only does it help me stay on task it also (for me) stores past projects making it an “archive “ Thanks again for keeping it real. Happy crafting
I can’t agree with the Google advice as Google and RU-vid is from people who are giving advice to those who don’t know. A leaning village. I thought you were apart of the village. ❤hence why you make your videos. You are providing a service because you felt it would be good to share your technique. Correct me if I’m wrong. Everyone learns differently. Some people are very creative but dyslexic, or ADD. Or just illiterate on a level we won’t understand because they have never had what we have. We want to be creative too without being put down. Don’t you have or make videos that are tutorials for beginners? Lets give advice to start at this video or that video. Let them start there. Let’s…. Is only for you not the masses. Don’t speak for those who don’t mind teaching to the village. When did we get away from the village. I was very don’t of you because you were so helpful and happy to share what you learned. Many of your videos are the start of learning but after wards I go back and correct your process and easier way. This video is so offensive. I do think you have been speaking to too many creators who have lost their purpose or never had a pure pose. I chose you because I thought you had a purpose to share. Jinxed the content of your videos. There’s a point in time where we become too big to come down on the level of our audience. I’m lost and unsubscribed.
I think your HEAD done got to BIG! I say that because when you first started tubing, you wasn’t saying that in the beginning, so why would you say that now? Why because you have followers? Don’t forget who made you! People followed you because they thought you were someone they could learn from but at the end of the day, Don’t start quoting the Bible in your wrong trying to deflect in what your trying to humiliate indirectly! The Bible says we have not because WE ASK NOT! People are trying to learn and this is just not the way to go about it. I think you went about this all wrong,That’s my personal opinion, but this is how people are when their status quo changes the person changes all around and you tend to forget that the viewers are the ones who help your numbers grow and really put you on the chart and the viewers will be the one to unfollow you!
I agree with everything you said. Lawd knows I wish you had done this earlier, would have saved me a small fortune. I now purchase what I need and what I need only, finish projects and relax. Thanks for doing what you do ma’am.
#3 is spot on with that particular word! I e been noticing these exact word being used interchangeably and they are not the same! Like what? To me this just screams illiterate to me. Bad look, please use the spell and grammar check.
Amen...always appreciate your honest opinion and willingness to say what others would dare to say. I found myself at the end, Definitely got to stop dabbing into soo many crafts. I'm sure my wallet would agree. Love watching and learning from you.
Than you, I stumbled on your video. And I agree with many of your points. You may have lost some followers, but you gained a new one. Speak the truth and in some instances common sense.
I cannot love this video enough! I am still learning myself and have chose NOT to sell anything yet. I told my friends if you bring me something that you want me to do…I will do it free for you but please know that I am not perfect and steadily improving myself.
Well said. Thank you for being honest, brave and well-spoken. I appreciate your efforts to teach crafters and I respect your professionalism. Keep smiling.
So I just bought a Cricut Maker two days ago and I don't find anything you said as offensive, actually i find it the opposite, EXTREMELY helpful!! Thank you soo much for this. I am now subscribing to you. I found all 10 helpful especially the craft journal
First-time viewer and subscribed. You may have lost some subscribers but I suspect you also might gain some. I was scrolling through random videos and was mostly disinterested until I hit this one. (killing time between appointments) I loved it. Every one of the tips resonated. They were delivered a little tongue-in-cheek that made me smile because they're true. Humor softens the delivery. I could elaborate on each point, but you did that quite nicely, no need to re-hash. PS Love your shirt and that tumbler! PPS My new favorite quote 'Comparison is the thief of Joy" Definitely going to do a journal page with that one Thank you!
Thank you so much and welcome aboard! This video has definitely garnered some attention 😂. The thing about it is that I have said these things for over 2 years, so I'm not sure why this one seemed to take off. I know that nothing is a coincidence.
Thanks for sharing. We all have to start somewhere but do your own research on thing. But i see all the time about the SVG'S and FONTS it drives me insane
Craft journal is a great idea!!! I love crafting and stopped because I started so many projects and the more research I did the more awesome things I found I liked. So I have so many u finished crafts that even ended up ruined by the time I tried to go back to them or remember the idea I had for it. Thanx for sharing!
Great video Delonda! I agree with what you are saying...I am definitely known for starting and stopping 🙂 (but I have gotten much much better). I hope people understand that you are not telling them to stop looking at videos and asking questions...because that is research...but it does depend on what you are asking. I always appreciate your videos. Take care.
I think that some of what I am saying is getting lost in translation; but for the most part everyone seems to understand and agree. I am totally fine with people disagreeing as long as they aren't disrespectful.
Your comments are right on the money! Every one of the points you made are so important for each of us to take to heart. Thank you ! Your videos are great!!
Love love love love❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ this woman. Great great great teacher and just for free. And i am not in this craft but every craft what she is learn us you can put it for your own craft. Evrything you told us is free lovely Queen. YOU ARE BLESSED❤❤❤
#10 guilty... This is the reason why I have so much craft stuff. I've debated on whether or not I should give some stuff away, but I always seem to need it eventually, lol.
I am very happy for you that you felt the need to bring these stop points up. As Graphic Designer from the Ad Specialites market I appreciate all the different crafting methods you share with your channel. I will admitt is easy to get distracted and want to try another media or method. I have owned some of the earliest sublimation printers. Your fans are lucky they have you to stop them from going over board. Have a great 4th of July.
😊🎉 love this!! The one that bothers me the most is others asking for ..svg’s. Or in a help group asking for someone to remove a background from a jpg. Annoying. ❤
Learning to craft different things, not just shirts, is what I enjoy doing it's my way of leaving my stress at the door for at least for a few hours. What I make becomes gifts for birthdays or christmas. I do use Google a lot if I get stuck and your videos come up. That's how I found your channel.
As I always say, “Common sense isn’t that common” since the invention of the internet. Agree with every word you said. Stumbled into this video accidentally, but you just may have gained a new subscriber! 💜
GREAT advice! I will say on occasions #10 is me, I just started something because I thought I had all the materials, but realized I didn't when I got to the end, and I switched to a different project. I Need to start laying out everything before I start. 💜
Everything is a “phase”. 3 years ago everyone was jumping on the resin glitter tumblers. Then it went to cricut infusion now it’s sublimation. It will pass. People think it’s a quick. Buck to make stuff do it. Few times then get order for the whole football team and have no clue what they are into, how to price it including g their time. Not to mention the biggest question I see is licensing issues . You’re right about selling stuff when they have made 1 thing.
Thanks for showing your who you really are. I have been a successful crafter my whole life. I started selling in 2017. I don’t feel this mean azz video was necessary to make. Please don’t quote the Bible when doing so. Post this in your group. Not on here where our views pay you.
I clicked on this just to see what you had to say. I eventually would love to get a cricut. But anyway, I agree with all you have said. It all makes sense. Although I still have alot to learn. Didn't know about HTV. Now I do. I'm especially guilty of #10. That's why I have alot of crafting supplies. 😂 And I use google alot. I have no problem looking up things for myself. Using a journal or having a list is super useful. I finally started writing a list. Just so nice to remember getting everything I needed for my current project. Which, I have completed one of the signs of my current project and gave it to my mom. Now I'm going to finish mine. 🤗 P.S. I have subscribed. Maybe I can learn more from you. I've been crafting for years but I love to learn other techniques or tricks of the trade that other people like to share. ❤
Ok....let me say what also needs to be said. I have been a subscriber to your channel from just about the very beginning. When you were just starting your channel, you were very humble and sweet and informative. You were also on a learning journey. Which was one of the reasons i enjoyed watching and learning along with you and everyone else. You always said that you are here to share your knowledge and the things that you have learned with your viewers. You always said that selling merchandise was not then, nor ever would be your intent. However, now that you have reached over 100 thousand viewers, your intent certainly has changed. You are pushing a new machine every month. Cutting machines, heat-press machines, tumbler presses, engraving machines, embroidery machines, on and on and on. I have been guilty of purchasing a few of those machines myself. (That i really don't need.) But i just can't keep up any longer. No one can afford to buy all the stuff you are pushing. The reason YOU have all this STUFF is because you receive it all for free from the companies you are pushing it for. It's not just the machines. It's all the other STUFF you are pushing, like that HTV vinyl. Does it really matter what someone calls it? I'll bet my last buck that TecWrap Craft and all the other vendors don't care what anyone calls it. As long as you keep pushing and people keep buying. So lets be honest, shall we? You are getting paid very well for putting out content EVERY SINGLE WEEK! So your viewers should be able to make what THEY want with the STUFF they have purchased. Say what THEY want, while we still have a free country and if they want to spell something wrong let them, its not costing you anything. In your words (YOU DO YOU) let everyone else do them. And, really, Delonda, who are you to tell someone what they can and can not SELL and when they are ready. You are the one on here every week encouraging people to do just that. I am very confused with your little rant. I liked the sweet, humble Delonda much better. Where did she go? Im done!
I feel your comment 1000%, I took no offense to her words but some of her statements came off sideways. Items do not have to be perfect to sale them...Marshalls, TJ Max and other similar retailers have proven this. You may not be ready to charge big bucks but anything you put your heart into I say go for it! Delonda is extremely knowledgeable about crafting her creations are beautiful and I thank her for sharing but I will unsubscribe!
All y’all need to stop it’s.. crafting none of it Is that serious all of this stuff that you’re complaining about would be simple for you to just ignore it and move on you’re not helping anybody you’re sitting here being petty under the guys of being helpful.. it’s crafting why… why in the actual hell do RU-vid recommend this channel to me? This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard complaining about how someone spells complaining that they ask you to give them something when you can just simply ignore it and move on petty and ignorant.
I'm sorry you feel this way. I apologize if my tone offended you in any way. If you do not like what I said, feel free to ignore my video and move on as well. Thank you for watching ❤
“If you feel like this video is directed at you then it probably is.” WoW just wow. I never read comments on videos ever. I did on this video for the first time ever & wow. I’m blown away. You always stay polite & respectful to everyone. Much Respect. Prayers for you & your channel. May you continue to prosper & shine.
As a newbie crafter, I love this! I'd much rather ask a fellow crafter where they bought a mold or SVG so I can go purchase it myself and maybe find something different/unique. Great advice imo!
@denisecrissup8768 Lol absolutely! If you're anything like me, my cart grows as I get ideas, be it from a video or from going through and looking at molds/SVGs.
lol oh it’s super necessary trust me everything she said was valid outside 8 ppl saying HTV Vinyl is just like ppl saying ATM machine so that’s doesn’t bother me,but the ppl always asking YOU for your Hard Earn Work and them not taking the time to put in the work is nasty work,I’ve come across ppl like that all the time and they say they don’t feel like researching and or buying files they rather ask and act as if they put the work in and that’s disrespectful
I purchased the very first cricut in like 2005 and have been cricutting ever since so let me tell you... every point you made needed to be said! Can I add a number 11? Some content creators must make new crafters feel like they need EVERY tool that is out there. You don't need a special weeding container in order to use your cricut. 99% of projects can be made using a green mat just fine. In fact... cricut used to make only a green mat.
This was a video that I wished would’ve been posted whenever I was a beginner.. Some people need to listen to this like coming from person who choose to continuously give from the heart. I would’ve saved a lot of time and money on SVGs..thank you so much❤
Perfect - everything you said needed to be said. research is key. # 2 - is the main one for me - People asking for assistance on how to make an item after they received an order.
#2. Stop making thinks that you don’t know how to make. I can’t tell you how many times I bought a SVG and it was in so many pieces and made no sense. It’s so frustrating paying for something only to have to spend a lot of time trying to “redo” it to make it work.
As a seller of digital files for sublimation I completely agree with people asking for SVG files or any files for that matter. The creator took time to make it! I pay for all artwork and backgrounds that I use to create my designs. It is very unfair for one person to pay for my file and then share it in a group with 1000's of members. A lot of times it gets shared so many times that the quality of the shared file is crap and can ultimately give the original creator a bad rap for offering bad files if people assume the quality of shared file is what the original is. Can you get okay results? Maybe, but if you are selling things, you truly should want to off the best results. I completely agree with Delonda if you note everything that goes into creating an item you will finish it and also if you do decide to sell items you are less likely to undercharge when pricing your items.
Thank you so much! I don't think that others are thinking about the person who created the file when they are asking for it to be shared. Thank you so much for sharing this! ❤️
#8 reminds me of my machine shop days when someone would ask for "aluminum angle-iron" :) #10 so many rabbit holes. I buy and accumulate then forget what project I bought the stuff for :(
Number 10 - Let's stop starting without finishing. Just yesterday I was saying to my writing partner, "I've gotten way away from my purpose for initially purchasing my Cricut Maker 3." I decided to refocus my efforts on going back and completing what I started, so this video is right on time as confirmation that I'm making the right decision. Thanks for taking time to "bless us out" really well! 🙂🙂
Thank you! You have said it ALL. The same things you are talking about in this video - I have gotten down reviews for telling the truth. I also do not sell. I love when I get a lot of compliments but they are compliments not Go Sell what you made. I also don’t want to be committed to any one but my own projects. Again, thank you so much. I will share your video. ❤❤
I freaking love you. You are beautiful inside and out, and this video proves it. I think the same things when I see some folk's comments. Before we bought anything, I spent countless hours doing research. We have a Cricut Maker 3, two lasers, a white toner printer, a sublimation printer, clay, silicone molds, ornaments, all sorts of jewelry making "stuff". I sell only to family and friends. It is ALL perfectly imperfect, and they know it. And my favorite currency is "Love, Hugs, and Kisses". Our favorite use of all the toys we have is having friends, family, neighbors come craft with us. They pay me for the supplies and make what they want. It's a pretty sweet setup. Thankful and blessed to have a husband that supports all my crazy crafting exploits. You just keep doing you!!! You're killing it! We love you!
Wow! That is so awesome! I love that! And I love when people recognize that your group is supportive by contributing to the costs-crafting isn’t cheap!
Thank you very much very well said you only speaking the truth. I personally myself did not get offended and it need to be said thank you very much. and I’m still learning. I’m watching you and your videos. I purchased my products but haven’t got start on projects. I tried not to jump from one thing to another again thank you.
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts and feelings in this video. You were very polite. I definitely needed to hear all 10, but the one that I needed to hear the most was #10. I am bad at planning crafts. I collect so I have what I need when I see or think of something I want to do. If I would plan a craft and write it down, I may not look like I'm hoarding materials in my craft building. Thank you again, and God bless you.
Same here, especially if the question(s) have literally been answered, but loads of the exact questions still come through. I stopped many groups on fb because of this , and asking for the SVGS files that they have no rights to. Even the person who had the SVG that purchased it themselves or googled it, were not following the terms of personal use only, and not to share said image and would upload these images to the fb groups so people could grab em. Iam no where an expert crafter. I’m a long haul newbie still(due to son’s health had to stop for about couple years) even when I first started out, I made sure I went to RU-vid and watched videos that had my questions answered. I thought everyone knew about copyright infringement and not to sell copyrighted material 🤦♀️ but I saw that quickly and was dumbfounded many didn’t care.
