i felt the bit abt subjects- in secondary school i was in top set in maths and when i told my teachers i wasn't doing maths at a-level and instead was doing art and film studies they sounded disappointed as if i was wasting my potential even though i just know i'd be happier doing creative rather than academic subjects
me, an american who has very little knowledge of the uk school system: ah yes, edumacation (also this was a really pretty video good job miss film student)
i'm doing english lit, film studies and drama at college and i don't think i could've chosen better subjects!! the college i'm going to is one of the best in my region but the reason i want to go there is that they focus on the students and not their results. and your video really helped me!!
omg ive been binging these "sixth form whats in my bag?" videos out of pure anxiety before my first day lmao i know a handful of people at my college anyways so its gonna be fine but damn these videos make me calm.
Starting Sixth Form in September, very excited and I appreciate the tips! I’m taking Photography and double IT so I’ll be doing a lot of coursework. Got a new Laptop specifically for them so I should be sorted. Very exciting to be able to wear my own clothes, and it’ll be nice to just come home for free periods and stuff! Also very lucky all my friends are staying at our school’s Sixth Form, and the teachers I will have, have all taught me before! Can’t wait! :)
im starting college tomorrow and this is like one of the best advice videos ive seen on youtube ab startng college, thank youuu. im honestly terrified but excited and my social anxiety is like confused 😭
Have you done the EPQ, if you have can you make a video on advice for it? Ur so underrated thank you for the video I'm pretty anxious about sixthform since I missed a lot of year 10 and 11 due to covid and my own medical issues but this video calmed my nerves a bit❤
1. you're gorgeous 2. your outfit is *chefs kiss* 3. green tea yESSS 4. Thank you this is helpful ahhh and the video was not cringy, you're the cutest human i have ever come across
Thank you so much , I really needed this , to finalise my decision. I have this school I always wanted to go to and it’s kinda faraway too. My parents think it’s better for me to go my current schools sixth form but it’s not what I’ve ever wanted. I don’t want to spend 2 years at a school that I’ve never wanted to stay at. I want a new experience.people always try to make decisions for me but I know what I want.
I saw your video because of the RU-vid algorithm. I don't understand all the English, but I think there must be a reason why this video came up. I pressed like. I hope you are always happy.
This whole video is STUNNING.👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 I have just started my second year of A levels, everything is online and it is hard. Not because the subject is hard, I love my subjects. It is just because of the pandemic and not having space at home. But the future that I want for myself keeps me going. I 1000% agree with everything you said Ellie. I, especially need to try harder at making friends. I am so awkward and such an intovert (but I love people) and this coronavirus is not helping 🥲 I'm literally scared of people now🙃 Loving the content Ellie🧡
This was so calming and helpful, I’m staring sixth form in September and I’m absolutely stoked ! I’m going to a new school; i’ve been going to the same school for 14.5 years now (my entire education) and was ready to leave. The transitions in your video were so cool i subbed and also i made a hot chocolate half way thru cause u were drinking green tea haha yeah
@@Blueduby thankyou :) , first of all I’m in y11 atm so I have quite some time but I have chosen two sixth forms to apply to. what happened when u started ? What we’re people like In classes the first few days ? what did u do to prepare before hand to go into sixth form ?
@@HelloHello-fo9hl ofc :) - when I started it was quite weird (especially as I moved school) I obviously didn’t know anyone but this gave me the confidence to just be me and be more open. I was definitely more out there and didn’t shy away from meeting people. In class people are super quiet mostly, depends on the teacher, I find that people you sit next to/near are always kind and become good class friends/out of class friends. I’d just get to know whoever you are sat next to in each class so the lesson isn’t so boring at times. Before hand preparing I just looked at what I’d be studying, bought loads of clothes for sixth form and stationary (folders and plastic wallets are a must!) and that’s about it! I’m sure you’ll do great, don’t stress it yet though you still have ages kinda :))
I just found this channel and you're very helpful and interesting with your advice! :) I'm starting sixth form in September. Art is my joy and passion but I've picked more academic subjects (which I am also interested in) but I'm scared about the workload for art and I told myself I can always do it later or as a hobby. I always see myself doing art in the future but I don't know if its easy to pursue as I feel demotivated if I do it for too long. Any advice ? :c
This is such a great video, for some reason year 11's at my School have already started year 12, weird but, Love the advice you give! And a new sub keep up the content!
ive picked three subjects that i enjoy but they all contrast eachother so muchh. got no idea what i want to do in the future so im having BIG doubts :// i love this video though its actually been so reassuring
In some ways, that opens many more opportunities for careers in future for you :) dont worry about knowing what you want to do now, we are still young. Everything will fall into place x
I'm assuming college is kind of similar to what we have here before uni and i had the same experience of loving the new classes because they were all focused on things i actually enjoyed. And being nice to everyone is the best advice!
It's not easy to fashionably blend in in a 6th form though (haha) with all the younger peeps wearing blazers. But that's not me saying I'm not going out there. At this point I couldn't care for judgement.
I had my first day of College yesterday, had today off then going in Friday and continuing on Monday... honestly not as bad as I expected, wear whatever you want just be comfy 😂❤
Hey Ellie! I will be doing my A-levels as an independent student as your videos help me a lot. I intend to do the AQA exam board, do you know if I can just do the A-level exams or if I also have to do the AS exams in order to get my a-level certification?
i havent even done my gcses yet but im in sixth form this september and pissing myself 😭 i have really good grades so im fine getting in but i have So Bad social anxiety
My sixth form (attached to my old secondary school) has a “smart casual” dress code but you can’t wear leggings or T-shirt’s or jeans or jumpers or hoodies or trainers so idk what to do lol
