Hey Kaki. This one really hit home. I have a friend who we (my husband and I) have always had occasions revolving around wine with her and her husband. It’s been really uncomfortable when we get together because I no longer like to drink and she still does. So my strategy is to set up scenarios where we can’t drink. We live 2 hours apart, so I arrange shopping trips to our midway point. That way we have to drive and can’t drink at lunch. I don’t think she’s on to me yet….

What a weird way to deal with a “friend.” Why can’t you just be honest with her? Aren’t friends supposed to support us and listen to our concerns? If you can’t be honest with her, is she really your friend?

It is hard dealing with people sometimes when you have changed and they have not. Good luck on continuing your journey the way that is healthiest for you!
