Paul Crowley, heading into his third season as head coach, has already made a significant impact at CNU, leading the football program to impressive achievements. Under his leadership, the Captains have compiled a 14-7 (.667) overall record and a dominant 10-2 (.833) record in the NJAC. Last year, Crowley guided the team back to the NCAA Division III Tournament for the first time since 2014 and clinched CNU's first-ever NJAC Championship.
In 2023, Crowley's squad finished with a 7-4 overall record, highlighted by a 5-1 mark in the NJAC, earning him and his coaching staff the NJAC Co-Coaching Staff of the Year award. His inaugural 2022 team also showed prowess with a 7-3 record, securing a second-place finish in the NJAC. Crowley, named CNU's Head Football Coach in December 2021, brings a wealth of coaching experience spanning over fifteen seasons, including stints as recruiting coordinator and mentoring quarterbacks.
Crowley's teams have been propelled by standout players like Matt Dzierski, the 2022 NJAC Offensive Player of the Year, and Gunner White, the 2023 NJAC Offensive Player of the Year. Under his guidance, CNU's offense has flourished, averaging nearly 25 points per game in 2022 and nearly 28 points per game in 2023. Defensively, the Captains have shown remarkable improvement, leading the NJAC in 2023 by allowing just 15.9 points per game.
A former standout offensive lineman for CNU, Crowley's coaching career includes notable achievements such as leading the Captains to top passing seasons and producing multiple All-NJAC players. He returned to CNU after coaching at William and Mary, where he mentored running backs. Originally from Virginia Beach, Paul now resides in Toano, VA, with his wife Tayler Stanley-Crowley and their son, Jack Stanley Crowley.
