wish CIG would limit player movement speed on cities and space stations to a simple jog, that way people would stop running around bumping into you all the time. Players are the most immersion break to this game
The more likely lore: War loving humanity came in contact with the JIAN, who were immediately appalled at the crude uncivilized behavior of humans and quickly began erecting a defensive shield around their area of space to prevent human contact. The UPE became instantly immersed in their traditional paranoia which assigns enemy status to any intelligent life over which they don't have total control. As per their standard traditional practice dating back to the days of the 21st Century US Pentagon, they deviously simulated an attack by another alien species with whom they had made more recent contact, the TAVARAN. The UPE needed an alien enemy to convince humanity of the need to impoverish themselves funding the construction of military spacecraft and an interstellar attack fleet. After both the Jian and the Tavaran began referring to UPE space as "Klingon Controlled Territory", the head warmongers at UPE HQ began foaming at the mouth and received treatment for rabies. Never-the-less, the push for a more powerful interstellar war fleet was pursued with even greater passion.
