Season 1 set him up to be a rapist fool with mommy AND daddy issues. Season 2 aegon is just kinda funny and the shepherd scene was cute. He was trying to be a good king lol

Aegon has become one of my favorite characters. He’s very much a gray character, has good qualities and bad. Believable. The actor playing him is doing great

I love love love the way Tom Glynn Carney plays Aegon II. In every scene his eyes convey Aegon’s insecurities and fears of being King. You can always see how Aegon is really unsure, and wishing he wasn’t sitting on the Iron Throne.
Aegon: "Yeah we'll give you some money" *Otto scuttles over* Aegon: "We actually have to be nice to poor people if they're gonna fight a war with us" *Otto scuttles back*

I think Aemond seriously considered the idea of starting a new life with his big brother in those fleeting moments but even so, his hands were tied by duty.

@@sirfijoe450Rhaenrya is the heir. I honestly do not believe she would have even considered executing Aegon or Aemond. Aegon would have been free to live his party lifestyle and she likely would have installed Aemond on the war council to allow him to be a valiant knight and plan war which he would have been great at. So long as they swear loyalty and show it, I HIGHLY doubt she’d want to hurt them.

Poor Aegon. He never wanted to be king and Alicent basically forced it on him, calls him useless, then forfeits his life so she can skinny dip in the woods.
Honestly aegon isn’t even an evil person a psychopath. Just was poorly raised and spoiled. I mean I’ve read some parts of the book and I think he gets more cruel because of his injury. But before that he actually wasn’t a bad king
nah he's awful. it's just that Joffrey Baratheon lowered the bar so far down into the abyss as to what makes an acceptable king that people see Aegon II and be like "ahh he's not so bad..." this is how Americans got into the presidential fiasco they are in today.
I love the idea that Alicent REALLY thinks because she said Viserys' last wish was to make Aegon his heir, that's why they made him king. As if Otto hadn't been conspiring to put Aegon on the throne since the day he was born😅
Because the writers are top notch character butchers at this point Alicent is just a written in character with imposter syndrome, Helaena doesn't care that her child was decapitated in front of her and Aemond who has made it a point to be dutiful and loyal to his family tried to murder his brother and king and let's not forget Rhaenyra the saint who can do no wrong. These character choices are all wrong and make absolutely no sense in changing them from actions in the books. I loved s1 and some of the first 4 episodes of s2 but afterwards it's just a mess thats getting harder and harder to watch as these changes are made why they made Aegon a rapist makes absolutely NO difference in the context of the story, team black would still hate him but they just have to really push this Patriarchy bs too so I don't know.

Aegon liked his family. Gosh dang it man. Though I dont believe things would have changed because the Aemond incident was bound to happen. Once that happened then Aegon was completely against the blacks.
I actually like the sheep scene a lot because even when Otto said no aegon tried to bargain it for the guy. It show that aegon feels bad for telling him yes and then having to say no.
1:15 I love Viserys (but not as a father) but this might be legit the only good thing he did as father to his last four kids...making sure to correct Aegon before he could go full-Joffrey with that whole 'you dare put hands on me!' Still could've done a lot more to be a decent father but at least he gets one point.
When Rhaenrya sits on the throne: immediately gets cut and bleeds When Aegon lounges around on the throne all day like a lad: no cuts to be found. I’m sorry Blacksisters but the throne chooses the true heir.
Season 2 didn't make me like Aegon more or less but it did feel like more of a real character. With flaws and traits alike, he feels like a real person.
How devastating is it to see that Aegon, Haelena and the rest of Rhaenyra's children were really close, bonded and had no hatred for each other. Funny how the adults and when I say the adults I meant the hightowers, manipulated them into thinking Rhaenyra would want them dead.
@@vizalloteafilter but Daemon wouldn't have a problem with them if they weren't next in line for the throne, it was all Otto's fault for trying to manipulate things inside the council that made Aegon as heir possible. Now that Aegon is king, Otto regretted everything the moment he mentioned Viserys.
allicent was very toxic with aegon making him fear rhaenerya when rhaenerya didnt see him as a threat at all as long as he didnt try to take her throne.
3:46 All of these people calling Aegon a good father always seem to forget about this scene. His kids have been born. Here he is ready and willing to abandon them.
Let's not forget he is running away from the duties of being a king. Being forced to usurp the throne. And we know how badly this turned out for him. Even as far as his mother agreeing to his public execution. When the bar is so low for parents in westeros, when Viserys never even acknowledging his other kids and Alicent hitting and psychologically terrorizing Aegon since he was a child only to agree to have him publicly executed in the end, i would say Aegon trying to be a good dad to him makes him better than his uncle or father. And his mother too.
@@fayedunaway8 Running away from the duties of kingship and abandoning your kids aren't mutually exclusive. His preferred choice was to run. Let's also not forget Aegon has other "bastard" children in Kingslanding he pretends don't exist? We don't get a whole lot of information regarding Viserys and five year old Aegon (same age as Aegon's son when he dies) interactions so there's really no room to speculate and how good a father Viserys was when comparing him to Aegon's treatment of his five year old. We know Aegon raped one of his maids and enjoyed watching orphans fight so maybe it isn't much of a mystery as to why Viserys didn't like him. Better father than Viserys? Doubt it. A good father? Absolutely not.
If only her mother wouldn't be such an ass towards him and would actually look at him as her son and not the fruits of her sacrifices. Casualty of bad parenting.
6:15 Honestly, I’m not sure she does. Where the heck was she when he was a mess after his son’s death? Why isn’t she nursing him back to health in stead of Larys? Why is she giving him up to Rhaenyra at the end of S2? Somehow that spider Larys has been a better mother to Aegon than Alicent has.
Aegon would have never been touched by Rhaenyra if she ruled. Family met power for the Targaryens. Especially more Targaryens more close to full blood.
i love this show, i just hate how they play the reigns of castamere in house of the dragon. it should only we played in game of thrones as that song was written about tywin lanister and his victory over another house. and i hate that im such a fan that i know that 🤣
Calm down it’s not that deep. That song is generally associated with the Lannisters for the general audience, using it isn’t a big deal to create the atmosphere.

If you are aware of game of thrones and the history of the song it takes you out of the scene. So yeah…kinda a big deal when you are trying to create an immersive world
