what lengths exactly? this wasnt a random city he attacked, it belongs to one of Rhaenyra's allies, so it makes sense from a strategic pov, aegon himself wanted to assault harrenhall just a few episodes back and the blacks/daemon wouldnt have any problem burning the riverlands if they were to reject him, so this reaction from aegon makes no sense, it just another case of the writers having no idea wtf they're doing
@@marius1445It was strategic, but it would have been more logical to just seize the castle. Sharp point was a very small city, and they didn’t really pose any threat to the greens. Aemond was both angry and scared due to not having a clear advantage as of now, and he needed something to take his frustrations out on. Sharp Point was likely one of the first things he saw flying back to King’s Landing, and that something was comprised of mostly innocent civilians living in the city.

@@silvertrees6421 didn't really want to spoil anything, in the books, Aegon takes Dragonstone while Rhaenyra is in King's Landing. She returns, unaware that he's taken the place, and he confronts her, and importantly, her son, Aegon the younger, with Sunfyre. He feeds her to Sunfyre, but lets her son live. After Aegon dies, heirless, Aegon the younger is next in line for the throne. He's wed to Aegon the elder's daughter, reuniting the house. Thing is, Aegon the younger, now Aegon III, remains scarred for life after the dance, especially from watching Sunfyre eat Rhaenyra alive, and is anything but a fan of dragons. He doesn't actively seek to see them killed or anything, as far as we know. He does, however, come to be known as "Aegon the Dragonbane" anyway, as they decline significantly under his rule. There's reason to believe a conspiracy was involved, but regardless, the King's lack of care for the dragons facilitated their decline, and ultimately deprives the house of the dragon of their titular dragons. The last of the dragons dies under his reign. So, Sunfyre's survival directly leads to the decline of Targaryen supremacy through the dragons, which is a major catalyst for the events of ASoIaF. Killing him off isn't a minor story change, it's a pivotal moment in the history of Westeros: A Targaryen regent, killed by a dragon. That's anything but insignificant.
Yeah Aegon is definitely the true underdog of the Dance of Dragons. He basically got written off by everyone, including his own faction. Spoiler: But at the end of the day it was Aegon rather than Aemond, Alicent or Otto who defeated Rhaenyra.
@@alanfulcher460 He outlasted Rhaenyra and was regarded as the legitimate King by subsequent rulers. Notably even Aegon the Younger styled himself as Aegon the Third, despite being Rhaenyra's son. And Aegon actually valued Aemond in a way. Sure he was a jerk to him, but he allowed him on his small council meetings and was almost heavily dependent on him and Vhagar. If Aemond really wanted the bullying to stop, he should’ve just punched Aegon in the face real hard. There is no justification to Aemond wanting his own brother dead.

So what you want about Larys. He made some good points. 1) Aegon wouldn't stand a chance agianst Rheanyra without Vhager- who wouldn't be rideable unless they just killed Aemond. 2) Rhaenyra/Aemond will likely get themselves killed, then Aegon can return to end the war. 3) Aegon fleeing would still leave him alive. I do However understand how Aegon feels he's got no life, especially without his castle/throne which he has been accustomed to/ grew up thinking were his birthright.
in books he at least had son something to come back to in show he had no point of fight and come back it is pointless and writers did it by erasing characters it make no sense for him to come back
Notice the simularity between Aegon and Otto here: Otto hanged Rhenyras loyalists during the coup in quite a public place in RK despite of them being honorable and innocent people, believing it won't be of much consequence if they succed in crowning Aegon and gaining most of Westeros and that it'll be easy to either dispose of Rhenyra or persuade her to submit, but was furious at Aegons summary collective punishment of the ratcatchers, due to how reckless, thoughtless and impulsive it was. Aegon, in his anger, dissatisfaction with Ottos strategies and short-sightedness, thought that there wouldn't be consequences since his faction could play it off as a grief-stricken father making mistakes out of grief and he was at a position where he was safe from the smallfolks retaliation. But now, he recognises Aemond as mad for commiting such a reckless atrocity for something so petty and provoking Rhenyra who now overmatches them severely. When he says, ,,What is the point of all of this", I think he believes that the war is lost and regrets it and his crowning, as they are about to be crushed despite their efforts and crimes and no matter what he does, he will be disgraced.
Good points my friend and so many people forget that Aegon never wanted to be King. Remember, he was the only one smirking when Viserys entered the throne room to reaffirm Luc as heir to Driftmark. He just wanted to drink and whore himself to an early grave. The only company he ever enjoyed and the only thing he ever truly loved was Sunfyre. Aegon is such tragic character, brilliantly portrayed in the show.

Aegon the Realm's Delight. Not gonna lie but that title should be reserved to Aegon V "Egg" Targaryen had his plan to make the Small Folks' lives better work.
Sunfyre is indeed alive or barely alive, but in Aegon's mind, Sunfyre died on Rook's Rest. Pretty sure Aegon would tear up once he reunited with his dragon is S3. I mean Sunfyre is the closest being to Aegon really compared to his relationships with his family
The shot of sharp point makes no sense according to the Westeros map. There should not be mountain on the right side of the screen. Should be the narrow sea
His suffering made him the most interesting character in the show imo. Showing a character at thier worst is what makes us root for them when they rise to power.
Aegon’s genitals getting mutilated in Rook’s Rest is consistent with the books tho. The show writers fucked up a lot of things but this isn’t one of them.
@mahirabrar9110 in the books they say that aegon still had desires he just couldn't get it up. You can't really have desires if you have nothing there.
why Aegon mock himself ? when this is his POV and why he lost his manhood when he have still job to do like making Maelor and alliance with Baratheons ,did writers forgot ?
Someone said that Sunfyre in the books went into hiding after the battle at Rook's Rest. Maybe something similar happened here and they're just not aware yet that he's alive?
personally I hope he isn't dead and even Aegon has been mislead. Don't know if we should be too hopeful for that, tho. It's always said that Aegon and Sunfyre have the deepest bond of all riders with their dragons. Aegon can be pretty dumb, but he should technically be able to feel it when Sunfyre is still there
Spoilers**** After the battle of Rooks rest, green army left Sunfyre at the castle with some men to defend him, some black loyalists got to know about this and they went on to finish Sunfyre, Sunfyre however burned them all, while in a dead state and then left the castle and hid in the forests, survived on eating animals. Realm thought that he was dead until Aegon 2 heard from some sailors that they saw a dragon battle from a far and in the shadows they saw Grey and Gold colour colliding, Aegon knew it was his dragon, he took his few loyalists he was with to the point of the battle and there he reunited with Sunfyre, it was very emotional in the books and let's hope it'll be the same in the show as well. Sunfyre IS NOT dead and his story is going according to the books only.
I hate what they did to Aemonds character in season 2. They made him a full fledged psychopath who has no self control or loyalty to anyone. Which is ironic because in season 1 his whole personality was built on duty and loyalty to his own 💀 In the books Aemond is loyal to team green until his end. Did the writers have him burn Aegon just for shock value and childhood teasing? The problem with shock value decisions is it cheapens characters and plot lines. Now how are they going to make him more human in the future considering how deranged he’s acted in season 2?
"Well then, when Rhaenyra descends on you with her seven dragons, and you without Vhagar, what then?" I was expecting something like "Larys. Friend. They dragged me back literally kicking and screaming to make me King. I didn't want this even before the Sausaging. Do you think I want it now? Let me tell you what's then. I stay here to greet Rhaenyra. She takes this damn crown. The war ends early. You guys can all flee to Essos or whatever."
I think he has some pity for Aegon- he himself is a cripple, and it’s rare to see someone genuinely worse off than he is, at least amongst the highborn. And on top of that, Larys is aware that he needs allies. Any blood family he has left hates him and nobody at court trusts him, for obvious reasons, and although he made a play to get into Aemond’s good graces at first, that backfired, and Larys realizes he needs to gtfo of dodge before Aemond hauls off and has him killed. Physically Aegon is frail, but obviously there are people that support his cause, and if it Aemond and Rhaenyra kill each other in the war, then Aegon can swoop in and take the throne, and Larys would be very generously rewarded with power, wealth, and influence, likely by being named Hand. And bc of Aegon’s frailty, it would fall to the Hand to essentially rule the country, just like Otto ruled when Viserys became increasingly ill. So it’s not so much that Larys cares about Aegon, but he does pity him, and he could be an important ally and vehicle to his own power.
3:54 I wonder why aegon wants himself to be called "The Realm's delight". Is that an indirect dig towards Rhaenyra? Since she too was called the realms delight in her teenage years. Guess he wants to usurp his sister's name as well😂
I read it more as a fairly dark, self-deprecating joke. He is despairing over his ruined penis and is obviously, feeling emasculated. 'The Realm's Delight' is a title he associates with women, via Rhaenyra, and so he's probably thinking someone along the lines of 'well, I guess we're both women now.' I don't think he literally wants that title at all.
That's some show only bullshit, plenty of Targaryens died to fire (Aegon the Uncrowned, Aerion Brightflame, Rhaenyra, everyone at Summerhall (Aegon V, Vaella, Duncan the Small). Also Viserys was killed by molten gold being poured on top of head, not by fire, pretty sure that would kill Daenerys too. Also keep in mind, the older a dragon gets, the bigger they get, the hotter their flames get (Balerion's flames were hot enough to fuse sand into glass, and they were hot enough to completely burn away quicksilver, another dragon) and the harder their scales get (Balerion's scales were so hard, scorpion bolts just bounced off of him).
Based off of Vhagar’s behaviour since Driftmark, her history and how she wanted to smoke TB’s entire squad of dragons despite the odds, Vhagar seems to be as bloodlusted as Aemond if not more.
Why do i think larys is the reason of the dragon pit storming haha Aegon has dead /cripled dragon whether sunfyre is alive or not it wouldnt change a thing that Rhaenyra has more dragons than Aegon so to deduct rhaenyras dragon to the equation larys made a way to get rid of the dragons in dragon pit
After finale TG do not exist anymore writers assassinated it with character assassination and relations assassination so now they have what they wanted dull TB and now they will have to make them villain just to make something interesting since greens will not be there to since the day
Aemond is superior to him and Rhaenyra’s bastards in every way. He’s better educated, he’s stronger, he’s faster, he’s taller, he’s a better swordsman, a better dragon rider, he even speaks Valeryion better
