Yay! Thank you so much Liz. 🙏🏽 I’m scared to chop my Velour at the moment because it is looking perfect & compact and the rosettes are fully open. It’s funny how different climates can change how it looks. It was a Christmas gift from last year and is a medium sized shrub. I think I’ll wait until autumn. Such helpful information. Much appreciated. 😃

Im tempted to put what I believe is a little aeonium hawarthii (one 3inch wide rosette) outside to see if it starts enjoying our cooling weather. It's still pretty small, but I think I'll give it a try!

what a coincidence ! My aeonium garnet/arberoum(?) has just arrived this evening. I cut out some part and the old root(because it sent bareroot and the root has already died). Thank you for your video Liz. I've never water my succ cutting after I planted them,to afraid it may lead to root rot LOL. But i'll try your method for this aeonium😍
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK

Let it air dry for a few days then put in moist soil(not wet). Good luck.

I love aeoniums, but I don't have the space for them because they do grow basically into trees. I have three small pots of ionium kiwi that I think I can keep small enough and I'm actually propagating two black leaves that actually took. I'm not exactly sure of the identification I have to look on Google exactly what they are I think theyre zwartkoff. but I'm going to end up selling those when they get big enough because like I said I don't have room for them. And I can't plant them outside. I swear every single plant that you own is just gorgeous LOL I keep saying that but it's true! you are actually the one who inspired me to get back into rocks and crystals. I've been picking off Micah chunks and have huge containers full of large Micah chunks and small micah chunks and I have no clue what the heck I'm going to do with them but it keeps me busy LOL 🤣🤣🤣 I think I'll probably end up using it as decoration top dressing or something.

Aeonium loves mica...LOL Have you heard of Greenovia? Mini aeonium to die for if grown in the right condition. The cutest thing ever.
@janetac1738
@janetac1738 3 года назад
@@GrowingSucculentswithLizK I absolutely adore greenovias but I don't feel confident enough just yet to grow them. Everything I read and research about them says they're very hard to grow they're very finicky blah blah blah. I'm still learning a lot and I still tend to fuss over them all the time which can be detrimental LOL I think because everything is in the house right now I hover over my succulents but anyway that's besides the point LOL maybe when I feel a little more confident in my abilities I will think about getting some of those. I should actually start with a cheaper finicky plant and if I can keep it alive then I'll look into the greenovia 🤣🤣 Believe it or not I actually just lost a small fried Ives to root rot. FRED IVES! The one plant that will grow in anything anywhere anytime and I killed one LOL but other than that I've been doing really good.

Hi Liz, its me again. I've just gotten my first black rose succulent and love it. I'm wanting to know what type of lighting it prefers? I have other succulents under grow lights and some are outside. But not sure about this little guy. I also noticed that some of the bottom leaves are falling off but I expect thats just natural. Hope you can tell me. Love that wood!! wish i had some!!Thanks
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK 2 года назад
Black Rose I find prefers full sun and little water on a very gritty soil mix. Most newly acquired succulents will go through stress due to the change in environment. Giving them Seaweed solution seems to help ease the stress.

Thanks for your video I was searching for Aeonium Velour transplanting recommendations, so is it true that cactus well draining soil is not recommended due to their need to have a little more moisture can I use a good quality container potting soil.
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK 3 года назад
Aeonium will suffer in cactus mix. A good premium potting mix will do.

I brought a Cante from Bunnings for $9.95, but it is purple/grey/blue with pink edge! Will it go white like yours or maybe it’s not a Cante at all, same shape leaves?
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK 11 месяцев назад
They tend to be pink when young and will get whiter as the farina gets thicker when they mature.

Liz I have a propagating question for you I have what I think is a bluebird or a desmatiana subsessilis maybe, I'm not 100% sure on the ID but I'm trying to propagate the leaves I've actually been trying for about eight months and nothing, no results whatsoever. Now, you know I am the propagating Queen this time what I did different is I laid them on their side because I had so many leaves but even so when I laid them flat they didn't grow either. I even used rooting hormone and I hate using rooting hormone on leaf propagations. Am I doing something wrong or is this particular plant not propagatable by leaf?
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK
@GrowingSucculentswithLizK 3 года назад
Blue bird I find are quite difficult but desmetiana subsessilis is quite easy. Had the DS just laying on air till the roots came out then put on soil. No watering or misting until the roots come out or they will rot.
@janetac1738
@janetac1738 3 года назад
@@GrowingSucculentswithLizK it has to be bluebird then. I bought it from a big box store on a whim and it was pretty big, pretty tall, and all the leaves were turned downward except on the very top and they were very very stiff leaves. It was hard for me to plant it the way it was because it was so tall I couldn't get anyway anyway LOL I'm babbling again but what I should have done was cut the root ball and I didn't so it ended up rotting . The whole plant was a disaster from the day I brought it home. I'm not going to give up though I'm just going to leave them in that tray until something happens lol

@@nicoledowling8407 Best time to grow them. They go dormant in summer or when it's really hot. They root faster in soil than in water. ATM, they can be planted in the garden to make them root up fast or plant them in a deep pot using a rich premium potting mix with added fertilizer and perlite or pumice. They love water so water once a week or if the soil dries up.
