My uncle Sean Meadows worked on the AEP boat for over a decade or two. He was training people before he passed from covid this last October. It was hard on all of us. I’m working at the power plant that his coal barges were brining coal to and from! I will carry on for him and both our families, and I even got my twic card so I could hop on the barges someday if I want! Rip uncle Sean Meadows!
Man that's one of the things I miss about Ohio we lived right off the bank a few miles from the sciotoville rail bridge in wheelersburg we'd see em every day I miss that low drone of the I used to sit at my bedroom window late at night and listen for that sound it was something to see when the water was up to almost over the bank the wake was something else too I live in South Carolina now and ain't no barges here we've been here since June of 87
man i hate doing doubles lol, cause we dont have mates or extra guys its jsut stern and lead, and it requires 3 people to do a double so one unlucky bastard gets woken up lol. I worked on the Monongahela River for a little bit (pittsburgh) and all those locks are 600 feet adnd they ALWAYS have us with a full tow (20 stumbos or 15 jumbos) anad all the locks are like pnly a few miles apart.
