I wish the front zipper or the front opened differently so you could see the whole inside of the pocket. More like the top pocket on the Aer Gym Duffel 3. I feel like it'd be easier to pack. I personally like this bag as a carryon/personal item when flying for someone who likes to pack a few just in case sets of clothes when traveling when I'm using a checked bag.
I use this one for (a) small 3-5 day trips, (b) going to coffee shops, but also (c) for international flights but then alongside a 60L luggage (the Aer Fit comes with me in the cabin with laptop and a shirt and underwater in case luggage gets lost, which is about the same amount of clothing for gym). I’m generally very happy with this bag, but it seems to be a bit big for the coffee shop and a little bit small for the 4-day trip.
Do you think it would be comfortable to carry this as my "personal" bag on a flight and then another 35L backpack as my overhead/carry-on? In other words, if I strapped the overhead to my back and wore it like a backpack, would it be comfortable to carry the FitPack 3 by hand like a duffel bag? Is the handle comortable enough? I'm trying to avoid buying a large roller wheel suitcase, just not sure if two backpacks is a good alternative or if I'd be better off buying a large duffel bag as my overhead and then I could just wear the FitPack on my back.
I love every aspect of this backpack besides the tech compartment. I wish it was just one section without the tech compartment since I’m mainly looking for the gym back and won’t have a use for that.
Using this back as a semi regular EDC at the moment - I personally am fine with it but the lack of space can’t be emphasized enough. I have a laptop, one small charger, one pair of gym clothes, shoes, water bottle and one notebook. And you almost dont realize it until you use it every day that this really is kind of 80% full already just with that. Want to bring your own towel? It won’t fit well. Want big bulky headphones? Once the shoes are in best you can do it kinda fit it on top over the laptop. Have multiple tech stuff? Get something else. It’s great for me because all I need for my work is the computer and all I need for the gym is shoes and the change of clothes but can definitely see how it would be niche. I also always wonder if it would be better to have a regular EDC and then just shove the shoes in its own shoe bag to keep it separate from the rest of your things, but then you probably have more backpack functionality.
Yes! I had been waiting for this review! It was so good and I have three questions. 1. Could the duffle area of the bag work well to hold lunch and a tech pouch rather than gym clothes? 2. Does the backpack look silly when you are using both bottle holders? 3. Would this bag compare better with the Aer Day Pack 2 or the Aer Tech Pack 2?
Thanks so much Sarah! 1. Yes, but depends on the size of the said lunch box 2. Hell to the no 3. hmmmmm, not quite as confident with this q... maybe the day pack?
Got this bag, but after 2 weeks I decided to ditch it for the City Pack Pro instead. The lack of space after stuffing a pair of shoes in the shoe compartment meant that I had to squeeze in my other stuff like clothes, small items through the main and front compartments, which I didn't like. Pity as the bag looked damn good.
I’m a big fan of the channel! And I bought some backpacks because of your review! One thing I noticed about this one there is absolutely no B-Roll full body shots of Aaron wearing the backpack and walking with it lol
Hey dude thanks so much for the kind words! We try to get B-roll of me wearing every pack in the wild, but sometimes time is a bit tight and we can't always make it work 😬
@@LarryOteyza Yup! We've already got it in our possession, and the review is in line. But might take a bit of time - so many damn bags to review! (I guess this is a good problem to have though lol)
I would love to use this one alas I carry too much stuff :/ so I have to have a dedicated gym bag that I can just toss around without worrying about damaging my laptop, and another backpack for my work stuff/lunch. I’m currently using a Carhatt Legacy 24in Duffel bag (brown) and let me tell you it is PERFECT and sexy AF; I can fit a pair of shoes, a towel, change of clothes, toiletries bag, and more. It has a “rubberized” base so I can just toss it in then trunk after working out and forget about it.
@@Nomads.Nation yeah man. Thanks to your review I purchased the AER Dopp Kit and the Day Sling 2. I’m surprised how one can easily get into bags, with all these options and styles! (I get it ladies, I get it now!)
I bought this (via your link) in the X-Pack version (w/the orange interior). It doesn’t hold a lot, but I love it for my EDC! only question is, where do I attach my keys?
Great review! AFP 3 is definitely a lovely hybrid bag, it has a few things the modern dayfarer (the bag I own/use) doesn't have; love the duffel opening which is perfect to separate towels and maybe swimming gear, and the sternum strap. However it is on the small side for me especially since I would use the shoe compartment, and the tech access is hindered. BTW, the link to the Aer Duffel pack has to be updated, it currently takes you to the Tortuga backpack :)
Thanks for the heads up on the link dude! And yes, agreed that compared to the Modern Dayfarer each has its own set of pros and cons. But for me personally I'd go with the Dayfarer
@@Nomads.Nationwhy would you personally go with the Dayfarer? V2 is coming up next month and still unsure of whether getting it or the Aer Fit Pack 3 (I am 165cm/~5ft 5 in height and need a bag for work and gym every weekday)
@@unofficiallatinamericanist Dayfarer all around better bag, more quick access, better aestehtic. Our review on the Dayfarer V2 will be up in a week or so
@@Nomads.Nation Ok cool! Dayfarer V2 is like AUD80 more expensive for me because the shipping to Australia alone is about AUD77 but I really like the look and functionality of the V2 compared to Aer Fit Pack 3! Looking forward to seeing your review. You gave good points in your vid!
Great review! I've been watching a ton of your videos, very in-depth. Currently I jog about 10 min to the gym from my house and would like a comfortable but light backpack. I carry my 13" shoes, 2 tricep pulldown ropes, medium size towel and a camelbak water bottle. I'm 6' 4". Would that be pushing things too much or should I get the Duffel Pack 3 for the extra room? I don't want something massive while I'm jogging, but I have heard that the Duffel Pack's long design is good for taller folks. I do like that the Fit Pack 3 can stand on it's own, which is important for dropping it on the floor at the gym while working out--as I'd like to keep the bag with me while working out. Thanks! PS I've also seen that there is a "X-Pac" version for both the Duffel and Fit packs which give "YKK® AquaGuard® zippers for all major compartments"--so this would ensure the top tech compartment is waterproof.
Thanks Dave! Ah that’s a tough one - I think if you are jogging then lighter is better so I want to lean towards the Fit Pack but it’s not really something I have experience with. I’d love to hear your thoughts about whichever pack you get
@@Nomads.Nation Thanks for the recommendation! I'll pull the trigger on the Fit Pack X-Pac version. Keep up the awesome reviews, you're really enjoyable to listen to. I definitely think I'll pop back and have a look at the vids after I get it too and let you know how it works out! :)
Nice, but love my molle tactical backpack with webbing for carabiners and eyelids to protect all the zippers... bought at a general gear store and paid about $70... indestructible for some 10 years so far
@@Nomads.Nation yeah, when my pack is full, and not in the mood to repack, I can attach some shopping bags AND my all important water bottle to the carabiners. Don't even mind the looks for bags attached to my bag! Hands free all the way!!
Can’t cuz I haven’t reviewed either of those either brands, but from what I’ve heard Aer is just as durable and gives more value but is slightly less ‘premium’,
ahhh we decided to stop them for now. We think that if people watch the review they can make up their own minds (but we are getting a LOT of requests to bring them back lol)
@@Nomads.Nation Would you say the duffel pack 3 fits a lifting belt better? I know it has more volume, but it is also smaller in width than fit pack 3.
@@Skebaivis I’ve never used a lifting belt in my life lol so I can’t be very sure, but if it can fold then I think the duffel pack is a better bet as it has more volume
It’s definitely splurge! Bags are like anything else - you can get great value out of a Toyota, or spend some disposable income on a BMW. Ppl like to spend their money in different ways
