I have this handguard. I haven’t shot it yet, but I love holding it for sure. Also, he’s correct about the mounting mechanism. It took me a bit to figure out how to mount the handguard, but now that I have it down, it really is amazing.
So I just completed my build using the Atlas S-One handguard I think it's absolutely phenomenal super lightweight the only drawback if there is one, is the fact that if you want to change out your dust cover you have to completely remove the hand guard the gas block and gas tube and then the barrel nut to do so. Not a deal-breaker whatsoever if you're building it from scratch but if you're buying a complete upper then it's going to take a little work ! If you're interested I posted my video to my channel on that recent build ! Thanks for a great video have a great day !
ATLAS S-ONE Handguards are designed to match seamlessly with there M4E1 Threaded Upper Receivers. Additionally, they are compatible with any Mil-Spec AR-15 upper receivers as well. However, they may not be compatible with billet upper receivers due to indexing tabs.
I recently put one of these on my long-range .308 upper and I like it a lot. The removal of most of the upper rail allows plenty of space for the front of a large scope as well as making the handguard lighter and slimmer.
I put one on a 458 SOCOM build. I love it. It fits my hand great and looks good. I thought it would look to skeletonish but it doesn't. There's really no need for the rail all along the top. It feels great, and looks good. My quad-rail style hand guard gun looks primitive by comparison and weigh waaaaay to much.
I bought the 9" version recently, and it is AMAZING. I previously had a 15" quad rail, 'cause I got sucked into the "tacti-cool" bullshit, but realized about 90% or more of the rails weren't in use, and made my rifle UNLOADED heavier than my 12ga Mossberg 500 with a 28" barrel feel lighter LOADED with 6 slugs and 6 more in the side saddle. I don't know about you, but if your 5.56 weighs more than your pump action 12ga, you're doing something wrong. Upon replacing the handguard to the S-One, I was amazed at how light my rifle became. Even with a 3-slot rail attachment and bipod on it, and a 16" heavy profile barrel, my rifle is now light enough that I could shoot it one-handed like a pistol WITHOUT using a pistol brace. I will note that while I think the 9" looks great, the carbine length gas system obstructs the foremost bottom MLok slot, requiring you to scoot back one slot to attach a bipod or other rail accessory. This isn't an issue for me, as my bipod's mount is staggered, allowing the pivot point to be directly under the gas block and front sight rail, so it's all good. I haven't gotten over to the range yet, so I can't comment on heat absorption and dispersal of the handguard when rapid firing.
Dnt for get the 16.6" for the 18 in spr builds. Adjustable aero gasblock...and the beautiful enhanced buffer tube h1. I like tactical shotgun stocks for sbr builds. Lower recoil / allows to use ur ar like a carbine too.
Bruh...preach! You can't and it's probably two slots too short. Modlite makes a button. Then, you can put offset irons at the rear of the rail where it meets the receiver. Your BUIS sight radius will be short, but that's the workaround.
Still waiting for my fid, but ordered an m4e1 complete upper with this rail. It fits the hand so much nicer, but I'm wondering how warm my hand is going to get
I bought the 9 inch fir a 10.5 pistol build. I love how light and thin the hand guard is but it didn't look right on my pistol with a blast forward device, there was to much bulk hanging out in front. So I ended up buying a 10 inch rail and will use the Atlas on a .9mm build.
Pretty much anything marked as "low profile." Most adjustable gas blocks work too. Hard to find anything that's not already in the low profile arena these days unless it's a full on FSB. - Thanks for the question.
Sorry Greg.. Completely dropped the ball on this one. No idea how I didn't notice it. David is correct, that is the 15" HG with the Odin Works .223 Wylde stainless barrel and the Seekins ATC Comp. Links Below: HG: rifle.life/ar15-15-atlas-s-one-m-lok-handguard-anodized-black.html Barrel: rifle.life/223-wylde-barrel-16-1-mid-length.html Comp: rifle.life/ar-atc-compensator-1-2x28-sts.html
If my barrel's overall length with integrated muzzle brake is 16", should I get a 12.5 inch Atlas S-One or 15"? I don't want the barrel ports to expell gas under the tip of the handguard.
Does anyone know if the S-One handguard will fit a BCM MK2 upper receiver? The BCM MK2 is modified from the mil-spec, reinforced in the area where the barrel attaches, so I worry that handguard might not mate correctly.
Yes, you should be fine. Really just depends on the red dot/magnifier combo you choose to go with. BUIS would be tough since it's "very directional" but I like using Magpul's MBUS and mounting it backwards. You could also get something like Knight's offset sights and mount in-between the red dot and magnifier as it uses a lot less real estate. Much pricier, though.
Nice , but all this slender handguard stuff, not good for more than a few mags. If you train and shoot with slender Handguard you need to wear gloves, and your Hands are still going to burn. Just a trend driven by the industry. They will be going back to bigger in a few years,But these are nice hand guards if you’re just gonna be a plinker and that’s fine.
