Comparing different complete uppers from Aero Precision. All are 16" complete uppers chambered in 556 NATO, all are M-LOK, all are made from 7075 aluminum.
The top one in your video is called the "Enhanced" rail. It is 1.72 in diameter. That is to tuck a suppressor under it, or to keep your hands farther away from the barrel heat. The other two are 1.52 diameter, the normal size of most rails. I run the "Enhanced" rail for my rifles. I completely custom built an M4E1 in .450 bushmaster. The bigger rail keeps my hand farther away from the huge barrel. Nice video. Comparing them next to each other in the screen really helps people see the difference.
Question, you think there is a gas block size difference required between the slim handguard and enhanced hg? I have the slim and have a .750 gas block. It's free floating but I think it doesn't have clearance to compensate for barrel whip. What u think? Thanks
I just finished a wicked 12.5" build using the S-One, and I really like it, very light and comfortable. Total build weight is 4lbs even, and that's with a TA31 acog, RMR, sling, and loaded mag.
Glad I watched this video! I have a pressure pad on top of the rail and I didn’t think about having no rail on top of the s one because that’s what I was eyeing…might change my rail now.
Great comparison video. Aero should have you do all their videos. Theirs do not help much any plus they showcase black parts on a dark background and the guy showcasing them is wearing a black shirt. 😏😵💫 The top one in your vid is aero proprietary i believe so you have to get their hand guards from them for those enhanced non-threaded uppers. It’s cool and looks and works well for hot barrels but too unwieldy for matches shooting fast for me. Plus if i want to change the hand guard i have to get from aero only. I just bought a kodiak brown kit with m4e1 threaded upper and the slim handguard on the bottom of your video frame. My wife and i shoot competition and this smaller one fits her small hands better plus even though my hands are large i like being able to wrap my hand around it when moving and shooting fast. Might make a 22lr and a pcc setup also for steel challenge and other non 3 gun run and gun matches. Do matches for proficiency. Anything else is just playing around. Being able to shoot for speed and accuracy under pressure is gold!
Can’t wait to to test my Aero upper setup. I also chose the slick upper receiver with no forward assist and the versatility of the Atlas R-One handguard
I guess it’s different for .308, the Aero slick R-One comes with no forward assist was cheaper than with a forward assist. I’ve used the forward assist in real a couple of times so for my needs I find it useful. Either way you can’t go wrong with Aero.
Just got the Atlas S-One 18" M4E1 in FDE complete upper to finish my new build. Absolutely perfect with the SL Radian charge handle and Fail Zero nickel boron BCG. Matching this to my Aero M4E1 lower with a LaRue Tactical MBT-2S Straight Bow Trigger. Just waiting on a TRYBE Optics 3-18x50mm HIPO Rifle Scope and my mid budget distance AR is good to go.
Very well put together presentation on Three excellent choices Aero precision has always produced great products now if I could only extract Daniel defense, Haley strategic, unity and GBRS out of my pocket Id be abled to diversify my platform portfolio 🤔
Definitely a Great choice👍 now a days it's so easy to get caught up on what's popular or Branding of the products themselves but the down side is cost because money is always a factor but when everything is stripped away what does matters is performance, reliability, durability, functionality, and will this system stand the test of time? I do at times get caught up in product hype but AERO continues to sell their products without having to try because the best promotion is word of mouth. I've never heard anything bad about AERO products and personally AERO lower parts kits have always been my go to regarding builds and regarding their uppers they've performed great.
I have an Enhanced (fat), Quantum (sort of the "S" version of Enhanced) and S-Atlas (slim). I love them for what they are good at doing. The fat ones allow you to tuck a silencer inside the handgaurd while the Atlas is light and feels great in your hand.
excellent video, AERO has many different versions and I'm trying to understand them all, I hope maybe you also did their lowers ?? I,ll check, if not maybe you can make one, I believe its the m4e1 that use's the flared magwell?
I only have the m4e1 style lower. They also have a different lower. The only difference I saw was the trigger guard piece. On the m4e1 it is part of the aluminum lower on the gen2 model you have to install the trigger guard piece from the lower parts kit.
I got my first Aero product in M5. Love the 308 16 inch just for plinking. I do want a 12.5 308 but they been out for a long time. Anywhere else I can get an Atlas R 1 in 308/12.5 barrel ? Also do a video of a M5. We need more 308 Aero Videos.
Somebody likes Radian Charging Handles & Wilson Combat Iron Sights.. I own several Aero builds in the Enhanced Upper/Rail, 2-3 W/ Atlas R1 rail, & 1 W/ Atlas S1 rail which I like the least. I bought the S1 rail to try it out & the S1 isn’t for me. One thing I would change on the Aero rails with full rail on top are the little holes on top, because when I had a few extra sets of sights that mount down into the rail not across the rail the front sights won’t mount on these rails. I noticed your S1 rail build has no forward assist. How do you like it? I have a couple Thunder Ranch Aero build sets w/o the FA. I’m neither for or against FA, so I liked the no FA uppers. I’m just curious how other people feel about no forward assist. Very nice builds. It’s good to see someone do a video like this explaining what the differences are! Thank you for this video, very very informative for people who don’t know & are looking at buying 1, or 2 or 3.. Keep ‘em coming Good Sir!
I tried the plastic magpul sights but the Wilson Combat are so much nicer and Amazon had them for a good deal 🤝 you don't need the fwd assist imo and it costs more to not have the upper come with it lol 😂
i looked on the Aero website b/c they are having a sale if you buy the complete upper you get the BCG and CH free. They only had the R one handguard in 15", all the 12" were out of stock.
@@t.m9341 The Atlas series ones are the normal 1.52 diameter size. They will fit many barrel nuts. If one won't fit your barrel nut, Aero sells just the barrel nuts for not much money. Most likely the Atlas will fit your barrel nut.
