Good stuff! But when would I need to use this maneuver? Evasion? Getting on someone's tail?

This isn't a combat manuever CRS :-) If you were training in real life to be a military pilot or commercial pilot this is one of several maneuvers you would need to demonstrate proficiency in as part of that training. It's about showing proper control and energy management of your aircraft.

These aerobatic vids are great. No Hammerhead vid though?! I used to love practising them back when I first discovered IL2 back in 2003. It would be great to get your instruction on them.

Yeah I haven't done the hammerhead as the aerobatic videos havent been a huge priority as I never thought they were very popular other than the barrel roll video. I've definitely used the hammerhead more than once in MP. There are some situations where it just perfect to use!

Would you consider doing a video on merge tactics. ?

I have a video covering the lead turn which is often one of the best things to do at the merge. A lot of people try and shoot initially instead of trying to gain position for a better shot later. The tactics of what you choose to do can depend on the situation and airplane matchup so it's hard to make a useful video this way somtimes. I prefer to cover more general concepts to apply however you want rather than cover an exact situation. Do you have any examples of what you want to see?

After rewatching this video again I have a serious question because of IL-2. A lot of VVS(Russian) pilots seem to always do this maneuver it put me in a tricky situation I either win in these dogfights because I teammate who is coming to support me or the other way around. If I have no teammate near I would usually win by having a higher energy advantage and flying a maneuverable more german plane like the Bf-109 F4. If I'm flying a G series 109 or 190 it is harder for me. Someone several happens and I have no choice to pray and flee. Do you have any advice to counter this maneuver?

This is more of a proficiency maneuver than a combat maneuver. I'd have to see a track of what you're describing to fully understand it.
