I saw Jon Anderson singing with a youth choir in State College, Pa, a few years ago and he was fine. The youngsters were having the time of their life living out on a small scale the rock star dream. Jon was touring with young musical talent and showing them the ropes. It was a fun night and all on stage including Jon were great.

The problem with your assessment is that you have not been to a show and your opinion is one based on ignorance which is fine but your really should be upfront and say I’ve not been to a show but know all about it.

Indeed, IMHO Jon and Chris were Yes. I first saw yes for Tales tour and seen them countless times all the way through the 90’s. His work with Vangelis is some of my favorite, he’s done a few solo bangers, never tires of trying new things. So happy to see him reenergized with a new band and creating nearly 60 years on.❤

I was blessed to see Jon and the Geeks on the 21st. It was great to see and hear him. They did a wonderful job with the classic YES music and I really like the new tunes. They have the flavor of mid 70s, and 80s Yes. Jon did a great job but you can hear he has shaved an octive off certain passages, but he can still hold it together and has not lost the vocal feelings nor inflections he brings to YES music. I have not been a fan of the last several YES albums and sad to say, I think Andersons new work with the Geeks will out shine the current Yes lineup. Steve, you need to rethink some things! Yes I think if the money is right, Aerosmith will do a tribute tour. The money will attract them, or they'll sell their body of work like Queen did and continue to relax along with Steven. Bottom line, we have wonderful bodies of work to enjoy until we too move onto that higher plane.✌

I see posts from a majority of people who don’t go to shows who are passing options on like flatulence after a few gassy hotdogs with beans and onions. Steven Tyler blew his voice out from probably not taking care of it properly over the decades. He is great but you still got to protect the pipes. I saw Randy Bachman of BTO and Guess WHo and he was in great shape vocally. Mick Jagger at 81 races around the stage which, again, people who don’t go to shows pass opinions out their backside without actually seeing shows. How do I know? I actually got off my butt and went to see Randy Bachman and The Rolling Stones this past year! Experience is a great teacher!

Back in the 90's when I was taking guitar lessons my instructor had another student who met Steven Tyler, Brad Whitford, Tom Hamilton and Joey Kramer in a restaurant. The other student was with his parents. They approached Steven and the boys to ask for autographs when they thought it was a good time to do that. The student told my instructor that they were so cool and just as nice as they could be. Steven, Brad, Tom and Joey all went out to the parking lot with the student and his family and had some pictures taken with them. He let our instructor borrow one of the pictures to show the other students. My older brother had the Toys in the Attic album way back in the 70's. I hate to see a great classic live band like Aerosmith hang it up but I admire and respect them for this decision. Thanks Michael. Great video!!

Grew up in Boston and saw them many times back in the 70s including their first concert at the old Boston Garden venue where there was unreserved seating with a first come first, first to get a seat where I stood in a wall to wall crowd on the floor of the venue rocking to the band. One of the greatest American musical exports (well until 1986 in my opinion). Shall cherish the memories of seeing them here in the U.K and, as you say, we still have the music and DVDs. Hope they don't think of a return but the way the music industry is working these days i am convinced that 'a form' of Aerosmith may well continue. Apparently there are rumours that Black Sabbath maybe thinking of a one-off concert. Hope that doesn't happen as surely with Ozzy's and Bill Wards health issues it is very unlikely that this will enhance the band's reputation.

I know the drummer should have an * beside his name for some recent issues, but all and all no rock band or for that matter and band as far as I know, as kept all original members for so long. All of my musical heroes aren't in their prime anymore, and it's sad to see the deterioration. Who quit, who retired, who died, who's sick, who's not getting along with other band members, etc. I feel so awful for Steven, because I'm sure this isn't how he planned to bow out from such a successful career. It'll be a sad day indeed when the book finally closes on all the classic rock bands of yesteryear, and the last of them finally shuffles off this mortal coil. You see what's coming up through the ranks, and you realize they can't hold a candle to the bands that came before them. What new bands out there can write and perform songs with the same attitude and intensity as Aerosmith, AC/DC, Yes, Van Halen, etc.? You've got a snowball's chance in hell of that happening!

Rush went out the best way with no announcement but a this could be our last time touring and a year later Neil Peart got brain cancer and passed a few years later. Pink Floyd also retired in a similar fashion. David Gilmour had started a new family with wife Polly Samson and went on to have four children with her and in 2001 closed the door on any Pink Floyd tours or albums while promoting Echoes The Best of Pink Floyd on the BBC. In 2006 reiterated the band was finished and wanted to focus on family and his solo work. In 2008, Rick Wright’s passing officially ended the band. The Endless River was finished to honor Rick and the one off charity single was done to honor the people of Ukraine.

Freddie Mercury didn’t scream live nor sing the high parts live. Those were reserved for Roger Taylor and occasionally Brian May. John Deacon occasionally sang backing vocals like on Killer Queen (low anytime), Somebody to Love (Earls Court and Houston 1977 you hear John’s thick English accent singing the low “find me somebody to love find” “somebody, somebody” sections). In the Lap of the Gods…Revisited, We Will Rock You (slow version Houston 1977 and all 1977/78 versions) and We Are The Champions (low end on live versions on the News Of The World and Jazz Tours). Only time Freddie would do high notes live was the trippy section of Get Down Make Love from 1979-82 (the 1982 versions segued into Brian May’s guitar solo spot) and the 1985/86 versions of Impromptu although he did a tiny bit in 1984 but not as much as 1985 versions which were a jam that would end and segue into “It’s a Hard Life” which Roger would scream “ONE TWO THREE FOUR” as the last drawn out C Minor 7th from Impromptu played by Spike Edney on the Yamaha CP-70 Electric Grand Piano would sustain.

@@terrencereardon6374 That's why they like working with Adam Lambert. He does sing all the high parts live. Many fans like to call Freddie one of the world's greatest tenors. Freddie said that his voice was a baritone. Some baritones do have very good high notes.

Aerosmith has the goo sense to retire before they be come tiring, unlike others..... How ever, I must differ with the notion that "Rock is dead". There are some bright spots, bands such as The Warning out of Mexico or Love Bites or Asterism, both out of Japan, or The Sixters out of Ukraine who not only show a mastery of their art at young ages but sound just as good live as in the studio, no, my friend there are still keeping the torch lit.

The twilight of Aerosmith's rock & roll was 40 years ago (I don't consider much of their pop albums rock & roll). there is plenty of great modern rock & roll music out there still.

I went to see Aerosmith in the late 70's in Virginia. Me and a couple friends went. They were an hour late after the opening act. The crowd was getting ugly and antsy. Then they came strolling out with the roadies holding flashlights to get them to their marks. And the drum kit got knocked over, Perry just fell on the floor laughing hysterically, they were wasted. So it was 20 more minutes before they came out again for a second try. They started, completely out of tune, Tyler could hardly stand up, he was in a different universe than the band. We left almost immediately because the audience was throwing things and screaming. The papers the next day said it turned into a proper melee' . I'd of liked to seen them in their prime. I enjoyed their albums, they must have been amazing when they played straight. I'm glad they're still breathing, they are one of the groups that I'd of bet on having a tragedy. I'm always happy when people go out on top, these older guys out on tours make me sad mostly. Especially when I see people like McCartney being completely shameless and singing terribly. But hey, it's their lives.
