I have one of these and a bunch of Compacts and Tristars, from the Compact Model 1 through the last production run of CS models. A Tristar will outlive this vacuum by decades. This was the first Lux International vacuum made after the Electrolux Group sold off their Lux International subsidiary. As a result this is not a good Swedish made Lux like its predecessors. It was designed and manufactured under contract by Kolektor of Slovenia. The plastics are thin and can be brittle, especially the underside and the bottom of the bag chamber. No letting the toddler ride on top like you could with a Tristar or an older Electrolux. Still a beautiful object, but be careful using it.
Great review. These are originally European Lux Intelligence. We never got this big powernozzle. Instead of it we have the PB1 powernozzle. In the Australia this is Sauber/LUX excellence. In there they sell it with the optional Sebo ET-1 powernozzle. Definitely one of my dream vacuums. There is video in the youtube called "Sauber/LUX excellence new vacuum cleaner" It is combined with the Sebo ET-1 pn.
Yes I aware of the history, thanks for sharing though. A friend of mine bought a sauber to use here with an adapter. It would pair nicely with a sebo head
I wanted to thank You again for the weekend that you filmed this series on your entire Aerus/Electrolux collection. Yours is the most fully comprehensive album of Aerus machines on YT. Haven’t seen you in about half a year since your BMW vid. Hoping that all is well.
Some aspects are better, some worse. Just me, and I am a bit of a Philistine in the vacuum world, but I find Miele hoses and attachments to be awful. I don't really like any European vacuum hose. They kink easily where a heavy wire reinforced hose typical of traditional American vacuums never kink. Miele hoses seem to be simultaneously stiff (they can be a wrestling match on occasion) yet easy to kink. Their attachments are cruel joke, especially their ridiculous cupcake sized dusting brush. It's useless. Miele has a better made canister body by far, and they are easier to service and repair. There are some German videos where the tech has a Miele apart on the bench with the motor torn down in about five minutes, and that is taking his time yakking and showing what to do. It takes a wee bit more than five minutes to get a Guardian Platinum apart! Both use motors sourced from Domel but the motor Miele uses has more power and is rebuildable while the motor used by Aerus has less power and cannot be rebuilt. The fan is retained by a pressed on, non-removable, cap. I have a lot of area rugs on top of laminate flooring and find the old Electrolux USA style power nozzle works better on area rugs than the more aggressive Wessel-Werk power nozzles that come with some Miele's. I have never had a complaint with Electrolux USA power nozzles but I grew up on old 1980s Kenmores that didn't have articulated swivel necks (that can be fragile and break, but I digress ..... ) so that style of neck feels normal to me.
I think that they need a quieter motor for the powernozzle, a telescopic wand in this class is de riguerue and I'm surprised that they missed that and a clip on the combination tool's elbow that would allow parking it upright on the machine.
So I had the opportunity to buy one of these from an older women, she used it less than 5 times and needed a lightweight upright. Her grand daughter was selling it for 250$ for her because she couldn’t find the receipt... I was going to buy it and allegedly the grandmother found the receipt and returned it.... in less than a day. I was so pissed. Called her a liar lol. Because my “local” aerus dealer said there’s a 3 day return. I’ve gotten over it but still super bummed
Abcrokid I live on a boarder of two states. Idk the laws, but I’ve always experienced 30 day returns for most companies. But must be because it’s a vacuum.
Abcrokid this guy seems like an aggressive owner. I’ve never been there because when we have talked on the phone, he hasn’t been pleasant. He wants you to come in to hook you. I’ll never go there.
same here buddy it's weird but I've loved vacuums since i was first walking and of course no one else likes them its just a vacuum cleaner to everyone else but there not to me lol
I'd also like to see Aerus bring out HEPA bags across the board but I doubt we'll see that happen. It's sad to say but I don't see Aerus being around too much longer unless they make some big changes in the company's structure. So many dealers have closed near me, it's hard to find one that's even open anymore. Last time I walked into one the store was basically empty and the dude didn't have any shampoo or Floor Pro brushes and acted like I was bothering his alone time. They're asking way too much for this machine with the features that it's lacking compared to Miele, Sebo, or even Kenmore. The last dealer I talked to about it said around $1300 was what he could sell one to me for, but of course it starts higher than that.
These come with motors made by Domel. They are a lot better than the VM3 or Johnson Electric motors found in other modern Aerus products. They have more power than any of the old two stage motors found in Renns, Epics or Guardians.
I saw your video, congrats. Hopefully the circuit board problem was a already addressed with yours. Mine happened after like two hours of total use. Thank god I got it at the dealer because the repair would have been $$$
Abcrokid I got mine pre owned. So I hope so too lol. The woman made it sound like she had it for at least a couple years. The power head was also replaced in November, they stopped using it a month last because the moved to a Bi-level. So far it's everything I had hoped my tristar would have been. I see what you're saying about the shrill sound. Reminds me of a cheap food processor or a ninja master prep.
@@applianceman6009 I have a simplicity cinch canister and it’s made in China but it’s still decent just looking for a power head to go with it, the power heads are really expensive
I have my Grandma's vintage Hoover Spirit Canister from 1981 which made in USA. It still runs strong at 40 years old, but it needs a power head. The power heads for it are very hard to find.
Ok, I'll be the Philistine and say no and maybe. Aside from the covers and headlight the modern Tristar power nozzle is the same as the Lux part and clean the same for me. Same motor, belt and brush roll. Now compared to Miele it would depend on which Miele power nozzle you are comparing to. One with a Wessel Werk nozzle might clean better, older Miele nozzles not so much (the pn with my Silver Moon is mediocre IMHO), but keep in mind Miels have more power than these do.
Ah I didn't catch that. By the way, Alex of Performance Reviews just ran a particle test on the TriStar today and it didn't do well. m.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4mG11CrMIiQ.html
I have an Aerus Guardian Platinum...i have wood floors with one big area rug and porcelain tile...the brush for the narr floors is horrible...i have to use a swifter on my floors because the brush doesn't set on the floor right to pick up the dust...i have always had electrolux...but I am truly sick of this one
Hard to find style p vacuum bags and hepa filter in any regular store. Looking on line is a pain and the cost for bags too high. Bags are not as simple as going to walmart, basically you have to deal with special store or order on line. Floor brush/rug brush is terrible.
