That’s because the black version is older and was released without physical modifications for the North American market, except for the hose setup and the voltage requirements. I don’t think they ever intended on making anything available for the scent chamber, which is unfortunate.

It is actually a Sovene design from Kolektor. Electrolux AB of Sweden sold Lux International off in 2009. The Asia Pacific side went to Vorwerk who now sells their premium model vacuums in Japan, Australia, New Zealand and other places under the Lux brand name. In Europe some Swiss investors bought Lux International but by 2011 they were out of money and sold out to Eureka-Forbes of India. Where all the previous Lux International or Royal Lux vacuums were Swedish designs made in Sweden with traditional Electrolux Group motors, except the last run of D820s that came out of an Electrolux Group factory in Hungary with a Domel motor, this machine was a product of Lux new owners. They hired Kolektor, a company known for utility scale electrical equipment and automotive electrical components to build it. The power nozzle used by Aerus is made in China by the same company that makes Perfect and Clean Obsessed vacuums.

It is not Swiss. A little quick history. Lux International was a wholly owned subsidiary of the Swedish company Electrolux AB until 2009. In fact Lux AB pre-dated Electrolux. It's top sales person arranged for Lux AB to merge with this small vacuum producer Elektromechanska AB in 1919 to form Electrolux. That salesman, Axel Wenner-Gren would go on to become one of the wealthiest men in the world, kind of a pre-WWII Bill Gates as Electrolux AB grew into a global appliance manufacturer. Prior to 2009 all those beautiful and expensive Royal Lux vacuums sold around the world except in the US, models like the D730, Royal Lux D745, Royal Lux D795 or the Lux 1 Royal D820 were made in an Electrolux plant in Sweden. The one exception was a final run of D820s made in another Electrolux Group plant in Hungary probably looking to see if they could reduce costs before deciding to get out of that line of business completely. In 2009 the Electrolux Group of Sweden sold off Lux International in pieces. Their Asia Pacific operation was purchased by Vorwerk. All over Asia / Pacific you see Vorwerk vacuums sold with Lux branding. Total weirdness. My Lux Sora from Japan is really a Vorwerk Tiger 260. At the same time the vacuum the Europeans know as the Lux Intelligence is sold in Australia as the Sauber Intelligence right alongside the "Lux Sora" from Vorwerk! Meanwhile some Swiss investors bought the European operations of Lux International. But being separated from Electrolux they needed a new source of vacuums to sell and they ended up commissioning the Slovenian company Kolektor to make the Lux Intelligence series that we know here as the Aerus Guardian Platinum and that the Australians know as the Sauber Intelligence. Those Swiss investors didn't last long and by 2011 they sold out to Eureka-Forbes of India, the current owner. The vacuums are still made by Kolektor. The motors are from Domel of Slovenia. Nothing Swiss about them.

@@paco3343 I have a 2003 vintage Lux 1R D820 that says "Made in Sweden" on it. I have a D795 with a manufacture date of 2000 that also says "Made in Sweden". These are both Japan market models that are required to have a manufacturing date and country of origin on them.

I know that’s the only problem is they don’t tell you the prices of these vacuums for this one the cost from the store I go to is 1800 for the lux legacy it’s about 1500 or 1300. All depends on what state you live in as well.

You nailed it. They are nothing like the high quality Swedish made machines of the past. I have a D795 I will never part with. It's from Japan but says "Made in Sweden". I use it in the US with a 100 volt transformer. It has the circuit board upgrade and this mighty Domel motor with 567 air watts. A real bruiser!
