Ironically some of the "Pro Tools new features" are just borrowed from Steinberg, one of their biggest competitors. I made the switch to Nuendo and it's hilarious to see Avid touting technology from them.
Thanks MItch for stopping by the Avid booth! I’m excited to see more ARA apps being implemented inside PT! These features speed up workflow and productivity. Also, nice MIDI updates! +1 in hopes that hardware delay compensation will eventually be automatically calculated in a future update. Keep up the great work, Avid!
its been the authority on audio for years. it was never geared towards production. they are trying to bring more producers to pro tools and its necessary for them now.
It’s cool that they’re adding features, I just wish that they’d fix the current issues. For instance, in a project (not session) if you collaborate on a project and you add even a single marker, it deletes all other markers for every other person on the project… rendering using “projects” useless for post. This is one of many issues I wish they’d fix before adding more features.
If pro tools take the spectral layers from steinberg it s means that their are the best to unmix track or stems separator..so if you got cubase you are on point😅
that transcription is gonna be such a game changer! I was just thinking how much i want this in a DAW since it's already in davinci resolve and other video editors. I work with podcasts and RU-vidrs on top of music, this will save me so much time.
the price is the biggest issue with protools. $1,500 for a perpetual license. Studio one just went to $199 for new users and logic is $200. For me there isnt anything protools has to justify the price.
for some people subscription is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE / so I wouldn't recommend them to finally introduce the subscription ONLY option (they brought back the choice - thank heavens / but that's FOR NOW) / the community showed Avid and Waves that subscription ONLY is UNACCEPTABLE and people will simply leave them forever!
@@josueemmanuelleaguillonque9822Since we are dealing with legacy based software… to simply select multiple tracks and move one fader to move multiple faders would be nice or a simple quick link command like in Cubase.
@@josueemmanuelleaguillonque9822I’d say selecting multiple tracks and only moving one fader or a quick link command like what’s in Cubase would be nice!
Just got Studio One 7 pro. $20 a month for full access to all Studio One plugins, updates and upgrades. Protools Pro is $100 a month. Studio One 7 and other DAWs such as Cubase and Logic have the same features as the new ProTools for a fraction of the price. So why bother with Protools…?
because people think protools is better, its not, and more importantly: many studios use it, so they can "talk together" with their "projects". That saves time. And as many studios stupidly enough spend so much money in PT they are reluctant to change. And their client expect them to have it. For non-studio owners there is no reason to use it unless you have a lot of money or just like it. I think its ok. Super slow and resource hungry, so I will never use it in my little studio, but if you love it for what it is, and have the hardware to run it, its not the worst.
@@HR2635 I am a 63 yo music tech and producer. A little history of Protools…. Built by Digidesign in the late 80’ early 90’, Protools was meant to replace the film tape dubbers in its primary form. For that industry, it was a revolution, but in mine, music production, it meant disaster. In my studio we had a 24 track 2’’ Otari tape recorder with Dolby SR. That was the pinnacle of sound quality in the 90’ and early 2000. Protools sounded better than those film dubbers but was awful for our industry as it ran in 16bits 44,1… The converters were very bad and noisy and the system could only run on top of the line very expensive Mac. The system crashed at least 5 times a day with about 10 minutes of reboot process. In 1996 I worked with Protool in our film facilities. Had no choice as it was the only standard in those times and the audio files were encrypted … it took years before the system use .wav or .aiff format. It was awful, slow and unstable. There was a raging war between Apple and Digidesign as both companies were updating their OS without checking inter compatibility with each other. It was an international monopoly and dynasty in all big facilities that lasted about 20 too long years. I am very glad that this is over now. Cheers !
Omg! Are you kidding???? Spectron layers had been in Cubase for a while and I though Pro-tools was ahead of the game!🤐🤐🤐😙😙😙😙😙😙 I'm going back Cubase Fuck it!

ALL RIGHT!!! Pro Tools is finally getting features from other software that the other software already had without a Pro Tools endless money milking scam. I mean subscription. Look! It's also getting the ability to use the "lite versions' of that software which for just more money become the real version of the software. Oh but WAIT THERE'S MORE!!! For your endless payment to Avid you'll get.... wait for it... MIDI editing!!! OMG!!! And when will you get it? Well the guy from Avid doesn't want to commit to, say the next year, or ever really. But in the meantime if you really want all those features you could just get them in free and low cost DAWs and just get the free or low cost plugins. Just sayin
In the last years Pro Tools has lost a lot of what made it so unique! Avid tries to keep up by integrating 3rd party software, but the more stuff they put in, the more confusing and buggy it becomes! I also get the impression that this company no longer knows which user target they are trying to address. What I see here is practically a copy of Cubase / Nuendo and is ridiculous! This year is the first time I will not renewing my support plan for my Ultimate version! Far too expensive! Most of the additional things offered in these updates are not really needed by anyone!
tbh you don't need to upgrade every year, I'm still rocking 2022.6 - I'll get the upgrade maybe this year just so I don't fall too far behind but I'm not desperate for it
Can we get Windows support for Carbon?? Why waste development time on an interface that only works with less than half of your actual user base? What about the GUI scaling bugs? The past few months it feels like the only updates we've been paying for are just more bundled plugins being added in.
I heard Protools was the industry standard some years ago and downloaded the free version. Saw it was a monthly subscription. Uninstalled immediately 😂
Pro tools team has been hard at work. Bringing all the cut down versions of Steinberg software to a version of Pro Tools they don’t even know when it will be released lmao 😂 while Studio One 7 has mind blowing features which were just released. Why are there even videos still made on Pro Tools is beyond me. 20 years in the music production scene and I’ve not really seen any really upgrades to Pro Tools since version 9. 🤷♂️
Dear Pro Tools: why not add something that is useful to classical musicians, or any musicians who do not record to the grid: source-destination editing. The only DAWs that have this are Pyramix and Sequoia, both of which are really expensive and Windows only.
Genuinely, what would switch me to protools is one thing: copy logic’s midi editing. It’s the best and every other way is inferior, slow and infuriating.
pro tools blows. still trying to catch up? why every studio uses this shitass stuff is beyond me. hate that eco system and this is my living for 30 years. sooory not sooory.
I don’t like them trying to partner themselves back into relevancy . Just continue being the best mixing daw until your eventual demise . Get out of the way
This company is a dinosaur. The licensing whores are getting decimated. Kids don't use it either, so Ableton and the others will make Avid look like the boomer software it always has been; historically unreliable, behind on features, expensive. So long Avid. PS: The digidesign control surfaces make the new control pads look like dogshit. You are downgrading things for users and selling them as upgrades. Not bright...
