SM already changed the date of their Japan concert so the Chinese fans are back to supporting Aespa so this whole boycott thing isn't gonna continue :)
We don’t know if aespa members don’t want to hold a concert at that day I think for example ningning tho (the Chinese member) wouldn’t want to perform on that date. I mean it’s up to sm if they wanna respect some countries and they could postpone it but like it’s not rlly aespas fault if they don’t want to hold it and their company just won’t let them.
@@kpop.luvx.143no one is blaming Aespa. They are boycotting for Ningning. If Ningning will perform in that day then omg I just can't imagine the amount of hate she will get from Chinese Netizens (I'm talking about Netizens not Ningning Chinese fans).
@@btsismyoxyjin6577 yeah but they’ll boycott aespa bc of ningning for something they can’t decide it’s really up to sm if they want one of their most popular groups to get hated like that
I remember a similar occurrence where 2022 Asian Artist Awards in Japan was set on 13th December, another important memorial date in China. Seventeen Chinese members didn't participate and same with the other Chinese kpop idols like Kep1er's Xiaoting, Pentagon's Yanan, and G-idle members. If HYBE/Pledis, Wakeone and Cube can consider the sensitivity of this then so should SMTOWN.
The Marco Polo Bridge incident, was a battle during July 1937 in the district of Beijing between China's National Revolutionary Army and the Imperial Japanese Army. The Marco Polo Bridge incident is generally regarded as the start of the Second Sino-Japanese War, and the Pacific theatre of World War II.
for the info, the album is already boycotted before the release of the date of concert because SM is exploiting the whole group (winter has to consist on performing after having surgery and karina's clothes are almost tore apart several times)and hiding, maltreating foreign members(ningning's post on ins were deleted by the company and she doesnt have the right to post what she likes, the comapany refuse to promote her even forced her to go back to korea during the Versace fanmeeting in beijing, tiktok videos managed by SM almost even forget about her existence, gigi was unfairly treated during the commercial photos etc...) so all bars in china get angry and decided not to preorder any albums even 1 month before the decision of concerts.
I am pretty sure they thought the 7th of July was a perfect date to have in Japan because its Tanabata day, a day coming from a cute legend. SM people tends to not think too much and do their search throughly. As for the venues, it would be interesting to see if the other bigger venues were available or not. It often happens with SM, them being late with the booking and being left with the smallest venues. The only thing to do is to sold out those venues immediately with the hope they will make a second date due to the popularity of the event. A boycott is never they way to be heard with SM
They heard the calls of the fans this time I mean i didn't expect Sm to do that but they surprisingly changed the date and added another show due to overwhelming demand .......
@Cora0930 well I am surprised they changed the date too. But they definitely got two dates instead of one, not because of the overwhelming demand, but because the capacity of the hall for the new date (Hall B of Marine Messe at Fukuoka) was only 6000 people (instead of 15 000 people with the first date in the Hall A of Marine Messe in Fukuoka) It was only normal for them to make it two dates so most people who already bought their tickets would be able to go to the concert... That's still 3000 possible people who won't be able to attend it at the end. That's the thing with changing the dates like that, they can't guarantee to find a venue at a later date in the same city. Booking a venue is mostly done months or years in advance. Here I think they first thought of seeing if there was a possible alternative first and securing that second venue (Hall B at the same place instead of hall B) before announcing everything (actually I saw they put that information the 22nd) and starting to refund everyone who got their tickets already (it was sold out...) And I am pretty sure, if they couldn't find some kind of replacement, they would have keep the date. As their world tour is already scheduled for them to be in some regions of the world at certain dates. July and a part of August was for their Japanese tour so it made the change possible.
Tbh this might be one of the only times Chinese netizens make sense, the day is really disrespectful. Also having NingNing perform on that day in Japan is a slap in the face of her Chinese fanbase. I get it they really should change the dates.
For those brushing it off, we are literally talking about a day of MOURNING of horrific events which happened not long ago. I 100% agree with the Chinese fans on this.
Bro they have like 5 mourning days If they didnt I would understand this. And also 7/7 is Tanabata day in Japan wich is a happy little celebration, I don't think they meant anything bad by this
Not really since Afghanistan didn't attack the US. Other way around, and I'm pretty sure ut was Iraq that got invaded and bombed because of """9/11""" which is also bs cuz all they wanted was to steal oil and Gold.
bc if she does perform, she will get national negative attention (think tzuyu flag level controversy). They would rather boycott the group now to try and force SM to change than have her/group potentially banned from ever performing in the country in the future (that's how bad this can get if this does blow up). Is this the best way course of action? probably not. But is it the most effective way as a large portion of sales come from china? yes, money talks. For reference, a little over 1mil of the 2mil album sales in their first week was from china.
I am actually impressed they seem like they are going to follow through. Chinese bars contribute to a lot of albums sales so missing them will actually hurt Aespas profits and make SM listen (hopefully)
Switch dates to July 8th or later. They can just delay it for a few days without changing much when it comes to event planning. Also aren't there bigger venues in Macao or Hong Kong? I'm questioning their tour organizers and event planning.
Sm wi definitely do something china and Chinese fans are so important and powerful when it comes to the company incomes one oft he reasons sm is still standing strong is because of their large fan base in therw
Boycotting is done to show companies that you don’t like something. If you will give them money anyway what insensitive would they have to change their behaviour.
I don't think the date is disrespectful, I wouldn't complain if a western artist had a concert on a remembrance day, in fact I don't think people even consider avoiding it. The tiny venues is more of an issue tho, especially such a popular group performing such a populous country
if you aren't chinese, you have absolutely NO RIGHT to be speaking out on this topic. japan has never apologized for its war crimes towards china and korea, and to this day they're still trying to cover it up. because of everything the japanese did to china, that day is extremley important. if it weren't held in japan on july 7th, cfans wouldnt be as angry. get it right... japanese were not tortured by their own occupation in china do you even know what our ancestors went thuogh? I dont recall american babies being raped to death or thousands of women being used as comfort women, kids being abducted, women constantly raped, thousands and millions of people being starved because of an imperial family. And which after all of this, still no apology has been given to everything our ancestors endured.

I get their issue with the date and the size of the arena, but it's kinda contradictory too. Like don't perform here on a certain date or no one will show up, but also hire a bigger performance space and sell us more tickets because so many of us want to show up lol
Imagine you're like "What? How could you do that?We wont accept this" meanwhile the people involved are like "What's he yapping about?"(i mean idk but whats it feels like)

I don’t think some of you understand, if ningning performs that day her career in china is over. Aespa will lose a bunch of sells etc because a huge part of their fanbase are Chinese.
Apparently the issue with the date is very serious, I’ve seen some ppl say that even Ningning could get bad consequences if she performs since she’s chinese

Yes, you can be Chinese, but you are also ignorant. You being Chinese doesn't automatically change history and make others be ignorant like you. Would be lovely to be this blissfully ignorant but that day exists because the history happened. Educate yourself and stop disrespecting your country.
why would a korean company have checked for a chinese day of mourning while touring in japan? preforming is ningnings job. its not like shes out clubbing and celebrating.
when a Korean company relies on half their sales to come from china, yeah they should maybe consider important dates to the Chinese market. For ref, 1.1m sales of the total 2m sales came from china for their My World album in the first two weeks. They get more sales from china than any other country (even more than domestically). idk maybe don't tick off the people who will give you the most money? That's part of SM's job.
PR is only hard to fathom if you’re like 12. There are whole dedicated teams for checking this, if said Korean company wants to target and maintain a good image with a Chinese market they have to be aware of these things.
These issues are both valid but idk if a boycott is warranted, the girls don’t make these decisions so they don’t deserve the hate they are getting for it but I do think they should probably change both
Yes, SM is the one who made the mistake, but why boycotting the girls??? Like that is just too petty. After all they are not the one who making decision for this.
because thats the only way sm will take action, if the album sales are boycotted, this means less revenue for the company and SM just like every other company out there is just a giant money making factory and all they care about is the money. Thats the only way they'll listen
Do you really think SM would let that happen? SM is literally making winter do schedule after her operation. She should have been resting but SM made her straight go back to do brand deals and schedule. So no sm would definitely make Ningning perform. Also when an member is missing they need to adjust everything to make it work with three members so it’s not so easy for her not to perform on that day
@@lanasaveslifesbut she doesn’t have to. Aespa members have missed concerts plenty times / and fanmeet , if they do still have the concert the least they can do is pull Ningning out
@@rosie5816 still sm is not that type of company who would let her miss a concert because of the date. Fr… nobody would get this upset over a concert on 9/11, which was way more recent. Bad things happen everyday. There’s not a single day on the calendar that’s not an anniversary of something terrible. I feel bad for NingNing, though. SM is really doing her dirty
These “fans” are full of crap, i found a performance of an artist by the name of Jer lau (who is from Hong Kong) on July 7th pre pandemic. Hong Kong was surrendered to Japanese occupation after 18 DAYS of fighting them off during said war. I used google translate of the Chinese comments it seems like everyone is happy to be there. The only event or acknowledgment that the Chinese government makes in July is to celebrate the founding of the communist party. I have found a Chinese military article. So the Chinese fans are not upset at the girls themselves, but at the company? Cus they set the dates and venues for the group. But then again, have fan groups constantly bxxching about thing is probably annoying, especially in light with what happened to Karina.
The only fans boycotting are Chinese fans. Sales might be lower but they will still probably chart high and sell well in country’s like Korea and Japan

so basically what you're saying is that nobody other than koreans should care for kpop? you could also turn back to your own country's music in that case?
Imagine having brain worms to the point that you complain the arena size doesn’t reflect their popularity and the way to address it is to…..boycott them?
Although I partially agree with what you are saying, the world has turned to consumerism long time ago so most people "don't care" as long as it doesn't directly affect their lives personally. It's unfortunate but it's how it is now. The other thing is that , for the most part, the general opinion of the vast majority of people regarding the middle-east, is that they have been at "war" ( and people see what is going on as war ) with each other and jews for centuries over either religion or politics or whatever reasons ( not saying they are right here ) so people have grown to be desensitized to it. Other thing is that because Jews are involved people automatically think of WW2 and Mr H and people think if they do or say anything against Jews they are automatically labeled as antisemitic. Last but not least, regarding kpop idols unfortunately they have contracts (which are owned by their label, not them ) with the brands and they have to honor said contract. It's a total sh*t show to say the least.
Um yes tf they are, have you seen their sales? They have the highest albums sales for a 4th gen gg and the second highest gg in general. They are the top1 and top5 highest 1st sold girl group. Aespa is def big asfk
