This just goes to show that live singing does affect stage presence, they are 10x better here than all of their stages. Hopefully they'll get to do more lives like this for their next comeback
I usually just casually listen to their music but wow, Ningning blew me away with her stage presence, Giselle was so stable, Karina really proved herself as an all rounder, and Winter’s high notes sounded just like the studio version
90% of the high notes are lip synced + they cant sing unless they stop dancing and just start modelling + crowd are obviously bored. Sm failed hard to make a new blackpink.
Coachella really needs to invite AESPA again😤 They were so damn ready by talent back then but now they’re so damn more experienced and could eat the entire stage atp. The live vocals r literally crazyy

Winter's vocals are SO stable! I lovedd herr singing the most of the four! AND ningning's and karina's STAGE PRESENCE are absolutely eye-catching and Giselle's rap is so addictive! Overall, for a group who doesn't sing live often AND are still rookies in the industry, this was SOOO GOOD!!!!!

@@inwasteland i really don't think so though? i used to be a blink in the early days but stopped after ktl era. lisa has always been consistently the most popular internationally since debut, and jennie in korea mostly after solo. jisoo has constantly been 4th and rose 3rd, but jisoo has surpassed rose's popularity in the recent years
im so proud of these girls. it seems like not a lot of people are satisfied with their performance, but for a group who debuted in front of cameras with barely any experience with a live stage and audience, they did really really well. damn, imagine how nervous they were lol. they might not be the "best" but they definitely arent lacking, and im really excited for what they have in store for us in the future. well done girls!
You can see how much being able to perform live changes their stage presence. These girls went to SM to become performers and show off their talent. I’m happy they finally got to do that.
Some people complaining abt their vocals being breathy/shaky are the same people that hate on them for not singing live. I think the girls did well and i wld consider their singing quite stable considering they had to do some hard choreos. Well done girls. I hope to see them sing live more

It’s not just the choreo, the songs are freaking high pitched, even Giselle’s and Karina’s parts. I’ve seen covers of Black Mamba and Savage and it’s a darn struggle. These songs are hard to sing.
As a Sone, I'm supporting aespa too. Snsd must be proud of them. These girls don't deserve the hate. They are one of the most talented 4th gens out there. They are the overachieving rookie group. Believe me, they are just starting, they will continue to improve talent-wise
Giselle is so stable like especially in her rap part in Savage that fabulous. Her stage presence is also shining same for NingNing. They really stand out during Coachella.
Absolutely love how Winter sounds exactly the same as their studio version and even better. But right here she gave much more life to it. Her voice is golden ❤️

I’m not shocked they sang live because I’m pretty sure it’s a requirement for Coachella but I’m also sure this is their first live performance. They did pretty good and if they sing live next comeback they will become more experienced!

The only live we've seen from them are their encores, radio shows and the special performances from the entertainment shows they've gone, but we haven't ever really seen perform live.

Ningning's years of training in SM Rookies really paid off in this Coachella performance. They may be a 1-year old group but Ningning as the main vocal really shined and carried the whole thing along with Giselle's confidence. Specially proud with Karina and Winter as well. There's a lot of room for improvement but they still delivered. Kudos!

TBH guys NINGNING killed so much... her live singing I really great like he had been doing live singing for a long time... her VOICE stands out too much and I don't have a hard time listening on her voice because of the POWERFUL VOCALS she has..... she really proved why she is the MAIN VOCALIST of AESPA.

I KNEW IT! I KNEW SOON THEY WOULD HAVE SUNG LIVE! And they slayed like they never did! I've always thought that they didn't have a lot of stage presence, but here they were absolutely perfect! They handled such a big stage being just four! Especially Giselle and NingNing, they looked so hyped and excited! With this performance they proved everyone they are perfect, I just hope they will start singing live in Korea too🥺
I’m super duper glad they did, not because i personally ever doubted or have problem with the way they have been performing. But those pressed people are really getting rude comparing and making fun of them. So funny everyone who probably cant even dance for shit on a stage in front of their classmates talks about vocal techniques, technical stuff in performing, stage presence etc like they are simon cowell just because they like kpop.

Agree but I also feel like that one the reason why both Giselle and NingNing is giving their all out, I mean the confidence and hype is there is because they've been singing infront of a crowd before, Ningning being a contestant in one of China's biggest talent show and Giselle being a choir member. I guess that also helps lessen their stage fright.

I've been into kpop for over 10 years, so I'd like to support any kpop group making it to Coachella... but I don't see any stage presence here. It was pretty boring tbh.
This is way better than any of their other stages when they were lipsyncing. The more practice they'll get the better they'll become. Live vocals don't have to be 100% perfect, but it does bring so much more energy and presence to the stage.
This is probably the first time I can actually hear them sing live. They're great, don't know what sm's problem is or whoever blasts their backtrack on full volume all the time.

Omg there vocals sound so good. I’m so in love with Winter & Ningning powerful vocals !! Giselle vocal color is really good. Karina sound good. People need stop complaining about vocals . I don't get why people are surprised about their live vocals: they are SM, OF COURSE THEY CAN SING LIVE. What I'm actually shocked is that they opened with aenergy. I don't hate the song, but not exactly the best to pump up the audience. SM can make breathtaking concerts, so I really don't understand.

Bro, the majority of comments ARE hating on them (and they especially where at the time). This was NOT a good live performance. A lot of the vocals where strained or shaky (and there was some uncomfortable shouting) and they were definitely not ready for this performance (which I blame entirely on SM). There where good moments but they sound really awkward during a lot of it and don’t know how to handle the crowd at all. Stop deluding yourself please. Also the backtrack was used clumsily in some places but that’s the least of the problems here.
They said it "every day we get better" I think now they are the best 4th gen gg they have stable voice and amazing performances an example of a perfect kpop girl group for me. This performance when they debuted and they ate.
The reason why they look bored in their stages is because theyre tired of lypsyncing. People are just used to watching artists faking facial expressions while lypsyncing to pre recorded vocals
Interesting. I thought Karina and Winter would be the stand outs. But after watching this, I feel like Ning Ning and Giselle really stood out and embodied the “American” vibe: It’s not about being perfect or the best, it’s about having charisma and being raw. It’s strange watching their performances without the typical K-pop production and fast cuts. You really see who stand outs. Karina and winter are amazing always of course, but somethings seemed a bit off or lower energy than usual. Maybe they were just nervous. But also, they were really singing live, so maybe we’re just not used to them conserving their energy and not dancing as full out. Great performance overall though and proud of them!
Thats what I've been wanting to say. I mean, yes Winter is stable but she danced and sang almost perfect like its her main objective which made her performance boring. And you are very right, Ningning and Giselle has the charisma, maybe gigi just needs to work a little abt her stage presence. Anyways, this is just a beginning. Im still rooting for the girls.

It’s like, if they don’t sing along perfectly with the backing track, it’s going to appear like they’re just lip-synching. I know on Korean television, it’s all about being “perfect” and singing every line. But it would be nice to hear them change it up a bit and have more fun with the song when they sing live. Even Beyoncé doesn’t sing every single word of each verse. I saw a little bit of it with this Coachella performance, and I definitely would like to see them have more fun on stage!!

I'm just amazed at Winter, how she holds herself and feels like being in control and calm throughout the performance with her almost perfect singing most of the time just like the studio version. Karina also the same, the way she did the adlibs for the last song, and the perfect intro to Next Level, she's really the all rounder. Ningning and Giselle did great too! Hope they'll be able to perform for live audience more
Yes I was actually doubting if Winter sang live or it's just the back track. Because most of the time, her voice sounds like the studio version, she's really an amazing vocalist, her voice is so clean, stable and beautiful. It's all thanks to her vocals that I stanned aespa btw

As a blink and a fan of aespa, it hurts to see many people fighting over who was better. Obviously the crowd is more quiet because these r rookies we talking abt. Honestly the fact this is their first time in front of a big crowd and their singing LIVE. Props to the girls. Edit: I think people are confused on why i think the reason for the crowd being quiet is because they are rookies. First of yes, aespa is considered rookies still in the Kpop industry because they only just debuted about a year ago. Second they are rookies when it comes to international stuff, SM hasn't really made their mission to push aespa internationally so this leading to the crowd maybe not knowing them. And third, if people were really bored at the music(which still could be), wouldn't they just leave instead of recording or whatever. So to compare, Blackpink having 3 years in the industry and international push=loud crowd, aespa having 1 year in the industry and no international push=quieter crowd. Facts are facts.

The girls did not prove me wrong. From the beginning people said they had no stage presence and can’t hype up a crowd but I knew all of that wasn’t true. They sang live and proved that they just as good as any other group. This was their first time and they did amazing. Love you Aespa

honestly it did seem like they were struggling a little. there’s so many high notes even though they sound good it will strain there voices eventually so i’m glad
GISELLE is so good when she is singing live I was really surprised even her dance improved and her stage presence don't get me started with ningning she carried the stage she must be tired
Their live voices are even better than the studio versions bcs you can hear them raw and i like that ✋ specially karinas voice! Like it gives more oomf and it's deeper.

I came back to see how well aespa ( a four/five gen kpop group ) did in coechella with their vocals and we can see the deference between HYBE and SM training 😂 And I don't agree with people who criticize their live vocals because they did very well specially that their song are quite difficult as they have some effects on the recorded version so being able to reproduce live their songs is very good and they stable in their high notes ...
Concluded most kpop stan really has high standard towards aespa. When their faves lipsync (latest kfest)- nobody critized but when it comes to aespa, itʼs a different matter. They suddenly become coaches for pointing out details, even with this coachella perf where the girls slayed so much. Taking it positively, aespa is really a force to reckoned with- that everybody gets mad for.
