Aestheticism and Decadence in The Picture of Dorian Gray 

In this lecture, Professor Nick Groom (University of Exeter) explores the presentation of art in Oscar Wilde's Picture of Dorian Gray, focusing in particular on: (i) the cultural movement of Aestheticism; (ii) the idea of being 'poisoned' by a book; (iii) the presentation of the Shakespearean actress Sibyl Vane; and (iv) and the picture of Dorian Gray itself.
