I love that this guide is REACTIONARY to what they do. All the Brutal Yuffie guides say something like "they PROBABLY will do this" but then if they don't do that you're fricked. I can hit perfect parries and dodges pretty well, but it's just so difficult to practice Gilgamesh and Sephiroth since they can't be conveniently refought. A survivability build to have time to practice is exactly what I've been needing. Genuinely, thank you so much.

No BS dude... this is easily the best and most informative guide for this challenge. Your walkthrough does not try to make everything sound "so easy" and instead focuses on being detailed and "friendly". VERY elite! Favorite video I have seen on this challenge. :)

I FINALLY DID IT!!!! I've tried so many builds, and I still used my girls only brumal/firaga build bc I have that down, but holy eff, you showing the details of his attacks pushed me through first try, not one chain connected, and no octo, I managed to get my firaga chain going, and it was bye bye! I love you, man!

Idk why i never use the menu to slow down and think. Gilgamesh seems like the only one i have to study. Perfect block is hard to do under stress. This is actually a guide, appreciate that. The rest are just "go in blind and cheese it". Thanks for letting us know what to do, helps me feel better about tryin this again, but without a cheese.

Best guide I have seen for this game. You actually go through all the enemy attacks and what they do and how to deal with it. I ran through this challenge with brumal form initially but working on actually doing it properly this time around. This vid helps immensely!

Bro this guide is amazing. Wow. I've learned so much. This is Elden Ring level of difficulty here where we really need to study moves, learn to perfect block, and exploit the tiniest weakness.
@aethertruck

Well to be fair, only two of these bosses aren't easily challengable on their own. Gilgamesh is the lions share of knowledge check in the whole gauntlet and he's not very likely to wipe you without having a few minutes to practice him. Sephiroth is really the only Elden Ring type boss imo. He will wipe you in 3 mistakes. But at least his lethal attack gives you plenty of time to prepare. It's like 3 seconds for the crouching version and there's no variation. You can also dodge the crouching version but it's a lot harder than perfect block. Just make sure you bring precision defense focus materia. The extra frames of perfect block make all. the. difference.

@aethertruck Gilgamesh is pretty tough too, for me anyway. Yesterday was my 1st and only try at this challenge with a limit siphon build, walk in the park until Gilgamesh. The dude attacks non stop with so many different attacks it's hard to remember it all. Will try getting to Sephiroth this time, thanks for the tips!
@aethertruck
@aethertruck 2 месяца назад
@@GoldChocobo77 unfortunate for you, limit siphon doesn't get good til you get thre reward for beating this challenge lol. Remember that Gilgamesh only attacks your piloted character like 90% of the time. You might have more success building ATB, then switching to a different character for like 5 seconds before using limit siphon/other actions. Also be sure to pilot another character during limit breaks, and if you don't have subversion materia to get rid of Gilgamesh's buffs, you should consider it.

@@aethertruck yeah I died 💀 on Gilgamesh again. Ive noted over 20 different attacks!? Need a phD to beat this guy
@aethertruck
@aethertruck 2 месяца назад
@@GoldChocobo77 the stress free way to learn is to watch others. Don't be afraid to pause to reference something. Most of his attacks have a name. Just make sure to think about his swordplay abilities: shoddy means he's gonna stand still, sloppy means he's gonna dash at you. Roll behind him for sloppy, roll away for shoddy. And don't be afraid to block things with steadfast block materia. Blocking his attacks often builds more ATB than hitting him yourself.

Thanks to this guide i managed to beat this. The guide is really good if there was any problems it was usually because i was not following the guide properly or was too greedy. With this set up I was able to defeat seperoth in his second transformation into his wind phase(last element). You can make a lot of mistakes with this setup and still win. I also like this strat compared to the brumal form yuffie, I feel like I am properly leaning the game mechanics. Plus this strat also teaches you how to block properly. I think a lot of players like myself were just dodging for most normal game its not until you get to these tougher challenges which for you to learn perfect parries and blocks
@InfinitePenguin
@InfinitePenguin 4 месяца назад
I already beat this several times but I enjoy watching other strats and stuff. This one seems really good for players that don't want to rely on perfect parries or dodging etc, the damage you are taking kinda looks like you're playing on easy mode, everyone is so tanky with those long-lasting buffs! Definitely will recommend this strategy and video to friends. Good job :)
@aethertruck

I had recommended a simple suggestion of Aerith having magnify->barrier, magic efficiency->barrier, magic focus->barrier but it's still kinda hard for Aerith to generate ATB in the Seph fight. Barret being an ultra tanky ATB battery is just the help Aerith needed to be able to consistently reapply barriers without issue. I've seen eauvni solo this challenge with every character but he did it with high skill and high flair. I wonder how viable it would be to beat Sephiroth as solo Barret with a tanky build. Double vitality up, double spirit up, fortitude ring, barrier+magic efficiency for half cost barriers, Chakra (because of his massive HP pool) and idk what else. I might give that a try tonight. It's easy to give Aerith all the credit because of her OP buff potential but I'd like to quantify just how valuable an unkillable Barret is to the equation
@InfinitePenguin
@InfinitePenguin 4 месяца назад
@@aethertruck To be honest I'd usually cast manawall once at the start of a fight then kinda forget about it, never re-apply it. Having an extended manawall and regen on everyone looks really good and something I'd never really considered - always dismissed that accessory you used on Aerith. Also yeah I never used that ATB assist materia on Barrett, I kinda just slapped anything ATB related on Tifa and have her do everything but it looks super good on Barrett! Definitely learnt some stuff from your video!
@aethertruck
@aethertruck 4 месяца назад
@@InfinitePenguin Tifa generates by far the most ATB if you use her unfettered fury 3 uppercut cancel, which makes her the best ATB assist user. I consider that to be advanced though, and this is a beginner build. Not to mention the fact that controller characters get more aggro, and she's a melee character which opens her up to being more vulnerable than Barret, on top of lower health and defense. But ATB assist on Tifa is best for players who can use her well

Great video and guide. You explained so well with so many details. I had issues beating gilgamesh using this method though. For some reason relying on barret’s ATB assists was not working for me in that round. So I switched to a limit break method. But this guide was still so helpful. The barret ATB assist method is such a great idea. I used this method for all gold saucer advanced battles as well as all of the first 5 brutal challenges. Thanks!

"Accidental perfect parry" 😂 I can't even intentionally perfect parry.
@aethertruck
@aethertruck 2 месяца назад
You'll have all sorts of accidental perfect parry with precision defense focus materia. It makes a very difficult timing window like 3x larger. Much easier. Most people I see who have trouble with perfect block simply don't use that materia because they think it's a waste if they never parry. But not using that materia is the reason perfect blocking stays hard. I have trouble perfect blocking without it too.

This is a fantastic step by step guide but it really does need pointing out that Aethertruck has MAXXED weapons at level 9 and that makes a HUGE difference in damage output. That means he has finished every chapter on hard mode because a LOT of the folios are locked behind each chapter completion. Finishing FF7RB on Hard mode is fucking H A R D. I'm stuck at Rufus on Chpt. 11 and just want this bullshit to be over with already!
@aethertruck
@aethertruck Месяц назад
I did try to address this. Aerith is not equipped with Magic Up. Tifa is not equipped with Strength Up. Those 60 points of stat more than make up for the attack power gained from weapon level 9. I know STR Up is listed in Tifa's slots in the description, because that's what I recommend, but in the first 5 minutes of the video I show you I have that slot empty to compensate for weapon level 9. And considering she does the lion's share of the damage in these fights, particularly to Gilg and Seph, Barret's stats don't really matter. If your Tifa is weapon level 8 and uses my materia build, your Tifa is doing more damage than mine.
@zildog
@zildog Месяц назад
@@aethertruck I kinda glossed over that as I kinda knew what build you were going for but did notice the empty slots and wondered why that was. Thanks for explaining why. I’ll give this a shot with your method and see if I can’t finally get the Gotter after God knows how long… I’m at 430 hours now, granted about 100 of that is sightseeing and watching scenes all the way through again but damn, they made this one REALLY fucking hard.
@aethertruck
@aethertruck Месяц назад
@@zildog my first clear was a struggle too. I had many attempts fail at Odin and Gilg, but only 3 or so fails on Seph. That's how valuable perfect block is on Shadowy Chains. Almost nothing he does is threatening at all except Shadowy Chains, so if you really practice your answer for that, (and keep everyone topped up with prayer, magnify+regen and magnify+cure spells) the clear will definitely come.
@zildog

@aethertruck
@aethertruck Месяц назад
If you are making it to Sephiroth, don't change your build. The only thing you really need for Sephiroth is know how to perfect block shadowy chains. If you wanna safely optinoob, don't go full swing til you get your first perfect block in. Put down a ward, bait out shadowy chains and block it, focused thrust him one time immediately after the perfect block, then go to town. He uses shadowy chains roughly every 15 seconds so after blocking it one time, you can finish the setup no problem. Alternatively, you can cancel his shadowy chains with a swiftcast thundaga or firaga, if you cast immediately when he readies shadowy chains.

Do you have to have steadfast block and precision defense in order to block??
@aethertruck
@aethertruck 25 дней назад
@@mashooshoo1 You don't need it but you would be making a mistake to remove them. Steadfast block greatly reduces damage taken while blocking, and greatly increases ATB gained by blocking. Precision defense focus increases the timing window for perfect block, making it easier to do. Blocking in FF7R is very good. It isn't a waste of time. Blocking attacks especially with steadfast block can generate more ATB than attacking sometimes. I have these two materias on every character in almost all scenarios. @aethertruck
@aethertruck 4 месяца назад
You get triple AP once you beat the game. Best tip is to play on easy mode to grind AP because enemies have less health but wait til you beat the game. I leveled my materia using the Gongaga loop, takes me about 35 minutes to level magic focus from 4 stars to 5 stars in the chocobo armband with AP Up. (Chocobo armband is 3x AP, AP Up is 2x AP for a total of 6x AP, beating the game makes everything give 3x AP so thats 18x AP total)

@aethertruck

Not for the purposes of this build. The point is to be able to survive and recover from mistakes. Tifa already does great damage but without the defenses she's more at risk of dying if you make multiple mistakes, life dropping regen/ barrier. For example octo slash will kill her from full health if she does not have barrier or these defenses.

Why don’t you ever use radiant ward on Aerith? It makes her invincible when casting spells 🤔
@aethertruck
@aethertruck 4 месяца назад
In this build I'm not concerned at all about radiant ward because I've addressed survivability with manawall and regen. The ATB gain from radiant ward is useless because you only really gain a lot of ATB when controlling a character, and with this build I don't want to control her. She definitely gets a few free abilities every fight but they're generally better spent on damage. Radiant ward is fantastic if you spend a lot of time controlling Aerith but in this beginner build, the player should focus on controlling Barret because he's nearly unkillable so mistakes are not problematic, and he can generate loads of ATB for himself the girls with ATB assist. The computer does a fantastic job avoiding damage so since Tifa and Aerith are much more frail and difficult to use, I Iet the computer control them until I'm ready to use their tools

I tried reraise materia, but its not worth being rerived at such low health with such a high mp cost. I tried aerith's planet protection. But octoslash does the same damage. I've been trying to use satsuigaming's/valkyrie's party & build strategy, cos its the first one I learnt, and does get me to sephiroth. Maybe its time I learned how to use barrett.
@aethertruck
@aethertruck 3 месяца назад
@@88killerific Barret doesn't really require learning which is one reason I recommend him to beginners. That and he has the largest health pool which makes mistakes on him very forgiving. The rest of the fights will be slower because he has low damage but he just doesn't die very easily. If you do use him make sure to use ATB assist on him because his high ATB gain is a major advantage he has and ATB assist allows him to use that advantage to give free ATB to the party without needing to build ATB on them. Building ATB is risky because the character you pilot gets targeted most often, but giving ATB assist to Barret lets you mitigate that risk by only piloting the beefiest character. To stagger Sephiroth, you need to parry shadowy chains, and everyone needs precision defense focus. You get about 4% stagger for each parry, and every time you parry it you can use a skill like divekick or overpower to knock Sephiroth back and get a few seconds of free damage and stagger buildup. But parrying shadowy chains is the best opening you're gonna get so you need to try very hard to parry it every time. Once you drop him to half health, he'll enter a fire elemental phase and by giving everyone elemental->fire, they'll be immune to half of his attacks which gives everyone big openings.
