I already 😢 miss this intro with Punk gts at the end. Also I miss the collision commercials with Punk saying "king is back baby" and "tell me when I'm telling lies"
You would have thought it would cost a king's ransom to use an Elton John song. But, Elton and Khan's father each own a soccer team in England in the same league. So, I am fairly certain that a friendly arrangement was made to allow them to use it.
true... the fact that is sang by the great Elton John gives the thing seriousness. I remember that on a legendary promo by DX, they put a track of the same style sang by McMahon. If the bathroom wasn't close, I would have pissed my pants from laughing
Not the version from Nickelback, or the version from Kid Rock......THE OG, HONEST TO GOD VERISON FROM ELTON JOHN. Never thought I'd see the day EJ opens up a wrestling show, but here we are.
"Saturday night's alright for fighting!" and then they show CM Punk diving into the crowd at the same time. They knew exactly what they were doing with this lol
I noticed they showed the people that were gonna be on the show first like Punk, FTR, Joe, BCG, Outcasts, Skye Blue, Willow, Miro, Andrade, Buddy, Wardlow, Luchasarus etc so i wonder if they'll change it up every week with whoever is being advertised to wrestle that week Edit: I was right!
I'm trying to keep my hopes in check, because aside from showing Orange Cassidy in the intro, this show was fucking awesome and serious. It's like a separate promo, and I hope it stays this way. They knowingly showed us Punk winking at a guy in a Cornette Face t shirt, and I couldn't be more hyped.
Also bin ich sehr 50/50 was das Intro betrifft.
I think that the energy and the lyrics of the song are a good match for a professional wrestling show. Elton John is also known for being a somewhat campy, tongue-in-cheek performer, which also makes the song a good fit for pro-wrestling. I think that metal music fits somewhat better for specific wrestlers, for example when CM Punk used "This Fire Burns" by Killswitch Engage many years ago. "Saturday Night's Alright For Fighting" leaves room on the program for music to be more or less intense, based on the performers being featured. It also calls back to the 70s and 80s when many wrestling territories would use pop music, and helps Collision stand out when compared to the WWE where they use original compositions not normally heard outside of their programming.
This was the biggest vanity project that I've ever seen in wrestling, it was designed by and for cm junk, by cm junk. If they didn't he would have taken his ball and gone home. He opened with an "I, Me" speech showing it was all about him, then booked himself into the main event with spoon fed jobbers, where the result was never in question. Then another hysterical insincere virtue signalling rant to close the show. I don't even know what I was watching, it was complete rubbish, not wrestling.
