I’m happy that as a big channel you aren’t lying to us and hyping it up to be the best ever when in reality it’s an ok game that’s missing a few things to make it better
Played for 2 hours today, my main problem is pacing. Most matches are over in 3-4 minutes. Had 1 match that lasted 7 minutes and that was my best match yet.
It's the opposite problem from 2k where I WANT to win with 1 finisher but it takes like 4, but here the problem is that getting the full momentum to actually hit one happens a bit too fast
Fair review. Personally I get can pass the average career mode, but to me what is inexcusable is the lack of match types: no cage matches, no backstage areas, no 3 vs 3 or anything beyond 2 vs 2, no multiple men ladder matches, no crowd fighting, no guest referee mode, a maximum of 4 people in the ring at once....it's so weak, I sure hope a lot of these will be added over time in updates and patches, otherwise no one is going to play it 6 months from now. 😕
These are my thoughts exactly, no excuse for the lack of match types like fuck these mini games and add more matches ..This game should be 29.99 at best and it pains me to say this cause I love Aew
💯 especially considering they didn’t have to work hard on moves. Most of the moves are retweaks of animations they put in older wwe games. Wtf were they doing for that long? Well at least the game is supposed to get better over time.
@@arcadeslum5882 Ulltra Pro Wresting's going to have more to offer than this, and it's a smaller team, and actually delivers on the promise of bringing back the AKI experience. Theres no excuse for this being so mediocre. Was hoping to have all the CAWs from the old AKI games. Plus was hoping to have PPV mode to book shows. But we got mini games. This is worth 30 bucks at best. And what's ups with not releasing demos. Square Enix and Sega release demos all the time.
I like the game I like how it doesn’t take itself too serious. I believe over time this game can get better if they put more effort thru updates in it. But would be better if it was a 29.99-39.99 game
They focused on the game engine to ensure it played well. Create a character and everything else took a backseat. I am fine with that. Playing well and being fun is the priority for the first game.
It's good fun does lack in some areas but hopefully it will be addressed and they will add a lot of things if it's not a yearly release it's a good starting point
You get different paths based on things such as personally type and losing and winning different so it makes sense to go through to get the different stories broken up by blocks (4A, 4B, etc)
I want a wrestling game that makes being champion mean something. Kinda like Raw 2 for Xbox original. That game let the champ pull up to every show with a suit and Limo. It wasn't much but it was something. Or maybe if the game kept track of how many times and how long of a reign u had
I'm playing on last gen so take this with a grain of salt but don't try to pause during a replay. My game has frozen twice doing this and I was forced to close out the game manually. This game is going to need serious support and quality of life patches moving forward. Somehow still enjoying it though 😅
I still feel the game is incomplete and missing that X factor it just feels so plain it feels as if you will play a couple of matches and then be bored of it
2K23 was the first wrestling game I bought since TNA Impact!. I’m not mad about the simulation style, but I was seriously impressed with all the different match types and features. Graphics are really good too. I’ll buy AEW when it goes on sale (€40 is the most I’d paid for this), but compared to 2K23 (which was only €10 more expensive on PS5) it’s way off in terms of quality and features.
It looks fun but for me not having a community creation really hurts the game and now after watching all your videos on the game I'm waiting for the price to drop!! Also dlc is a lot for this game and I think they should've given us more! This game will be a lot cheaper in a few months. Probably half the price if not less. I do love seeing another wrestling game and if I just had extra money I probably would've grabbed it early but I don't so I'll be waiting.
Is there no Hardys Announce Name or Entrance Scene? 😭 As with Creating them and having FTR with the DLC that's 2 more Tag Teams to use.. And there also needs to be a "Universe Mode" style mode ASAP as i only play Offline 😭
Probably the best review out there ... honest and not putting the gameplay like it's the best thing You give ur views on the game some pros and cons and I'd agree it's a average game 7 or 7.5 I should of waited til the price drop cuz it feels like a 40 dollar game Or should of waited til ur review cuz everyone overhype it
Turned out to be more WCW/nWo Revenge than No Mercy, but I’m glad I supported it. It’s also amazing how it turned out to be a perfect proxy for AEW itself: all the tools in place and endless potential, but somehow completely focused on the wrong crap in delivering the best possible product.
1) The THQ that made this was not the THQ that made No Mercy. That THQ went out of business in 2013, and then Nordic Games bought the rights to use the THQ game. 2) Yuke's has changed staff so many times over the years, that almost no-one who worked on their old wrestling titles is still with the company. 3) Yuke's have said that they didn't enjoy working on this game, but that they will support it for up to two years with DLC, to help out with the overspending that was rampant during this game's development. Not fixes, not improvements, just DLC. 4) Yuke's also said that they will not be making any further AEW games, and that if AEW wish to make more games in the future, it will have to be with another developer.
Apparently, Kenny Omega had too much say over the game and pissed off Yukes people working on it, making demands. One of the guys from Yukes has defected to Visual Concepts, who do the WWE games, after his horrible experience working on this game, and working with AEW and their demands. It wasn't a happy working relationship, apparently. WWE are far more hands-off when the games are produced, whereas Omega and others interfered in a lot of the production of the game. That's why Yukes are done with AEW after one game.
The thumbtacks and skateboard are AMAZING. Despite the limitations, they’re showing that they’re willing to do things that 2K would NEVER go for. I hope people support the game and they get to release a second one, or update it continuously.
they need to add a character creation like mass effect codes. that would be HUGE because people could upload created characters like cena and share them with a code.
This game is solid but the lack of modes and creations in the game makes this game pretty limited this game seems like something you would buy a few months or a year later where the prices are dropped and the game has more features.
I'm personally disappointed with the Creation suits as the lack of customization and the fact that some parts need to be bought out as if it was MYRise just tune me out. The game play is amazing and all but I imagine this experience would be similar to No Man Sky how at first the large fan base would be turned away until a period of updates appeared to fully improve the game.
Foundation game is definitely what this is. It’s fun, love playing it. Definitely gonna need more features if they want to keep this franchise flowing.
@@jadecox4956 Yes, a game that was released 8 years ago at the beginning of a console cycle. Yukes had a LOT of time with a lot of talented devs to polish this up to an extreme rate. 2K15 was a rushed publisher mess to push for next gen. Yukes should have released this game in a year or two were it could truly try to go toe to toe with the 2K series and impress the hell out of everyone, not just lame AEW shills. This is nothing short of Yukes fault, nobody elses. They promised a lot and delivered very little. They've lost their touch for now man so stop being a lame mark BTW I wasn't an f'ing moron and bought 2K15. I was still playing 2K14 probably until about 2016 or so... so 3 years after it released because I wasn't dumb enough to do what I just said. I'm sure a sucker like you would preorder the thing.
@@rn6312 So you start off by making an excuse as to why 2k15 (even though they were NOT transparent about its limitations) was bare bones, and then concluded with insulting those who purchased it. You sound like an emotional 12 year old so let me explain it clearer for you. When making purchases, you ought to know what you are putting your investments into. If people did not purchase 2k15 - 2k16, there may have never been a 2k23. No one is twisting your arm to make that purchase, but understand that's how investments work. And that is with yearly releases. AEW FF already announced it won't be a yearly released game and plans on updating the game for years to come. Functioning adults make the decision on whether the purchase is worth the investment or not. There were already reports going around stating that the game was over budget. WWE Allstars 2 is a game many people were clamouring for years after release, but never came to fruition. It didn't do well in sales, and thq went bankrupt. If that game sold as well WWE 12 did, who knows what we would have had today. The beauty in all of this is, you do not have to buy it, just like how you didn't buy 2k15. So no need to insult those who did. Hope you find peace. You seem like an angry individual
@@jadecox4956 Nah I just get annoyed with stupid people like yourself who make bad comparisons and then go off and try to justify a bad purchase. "Investing" on promises that haven't been fulfilled yet is a fools game. Enjoy your game mark... for as long as it lasts. IMHO you wasted your money at least until it is a better game. You should have bought Fire Pro if you wanted a great alternative to the 2K series that DID already fulfill its promises 100x over and is cheaper, especially on a Steam sale right now.
Craziest part of the wrestler’s that aren’t in the game is that their music is…I’m really hoping when it’s all said and done it makes sense and this is a game that will blow us away..if not fight forever 2 needs to hurry up 😂 and if they’re going to delay the game at least keep the game feeling up to date overall simply having a JAS shirt is not acceptable as up to date
Yeah gameplay is good, but the lack of everything else is kind of a killer to me. I'll need to see how the updates and stuff goes before getting it. Till then I'm contempt with 2k23. Also I feel the image from today is an additional Bray Wyatt character that'll be a free addition along with Uncle Howdy and hopefully The Fiend
@jamiechetwynd8151 I ge that, but still. I will say, the bugs and issues people are having doesn't shock me, Yukes have notoriously had buggy launches for years now.
@@LianaSunbursterYukes has always been a joke it’s just that everyone aged 15-25 love them because most of us were brainwashed into loving SVR & here comes the pain even though they’re not good wrestling games either.
The game is fun to play but I don’t get the lack of match types aswell cause not to include tornado tag or even a cage match feels lazy ..They better add a lot of content updates to fix this or it will be in the bargain bin in no time ..
That's what I'm worried about. If the average critical reception is 60% and the sales are mediocre, will the developers even make an effort of doing the updates as they promised?
I think if they had focused more on the things that matter like the campaign mode and different stipulations for matches the game would be much better, but no... let's focus on mini fucking games...
I'm seriously not surprised about how limited AEW's created a wrestler & Arena is. I was not expecting it to be anywhere near 2K. I see AEW's game as a graphically upgraded version of an N64 game. Limited like a MFer but fun AF!
Its not a bad game at all. but honestly WWE2K23 is much better. but its only been a day. and if they've committed to building on their foundation. itll be great in a while.
I don't think anyone can argue with your points. I agree 💯 There are aspects of this game that are so much fun, but others that are such a letdown; and at this point, being letdown as a wrestling game fan is all too familiar these days. However, I'm enjoying it as it's at least a decent alternative to the competition who has dominated over the last 20 years
I played for about 45 mins this morning on my switch. Adult responsibilities called. Did training to work out gameplay. It was fine, very familiar to the n64 games. It was fun. Reversals need to be just one button or have a prompt. Miro’s top rope heavy grapple move had no impact sound effect. Needs more pin animations. When the game told me how to do Miro’s finisher it said when opponent is face down. Nailed the signature and my opponent was on his back. Check controls, didn’t see an option for flipping him over. Did a string grapple with special and saw I could just do it from standing. But the game didn’t tell me that. I’m looking forward to playing more later today.
I had the same problem when trying to do the snap dragon suplex for Kenny’s signature as there was nothing telling me how to spin the the person around so their back was facing me.
If they add more matches (cage match, 2v2 ladder, backstage brawl ect.), polish up the gameplay, add more customization options for the CAW and more storylines for "Road to Elite", I think we have a banger of a game here! Until then, wait for sale
Thevgameplay alone is what holds up this titke for me and if they ate true to their word and the games sells well enough, the foundation for further expansion is exciting.
The game worked perfectly fine for me yesterday, today no matter what I try to do, the game constantly crashes. A friend of mine is having the same issue.
I think it could be server related. The stat tracking requires you be connected to the online server so it might be getting overloaded with all the new players. Hopefully it's something they're working on.
It sounds like each of the wrestlers voice themselves. Noticed this when I was playing Jeff Hardy vs Yuka Sakazaki with my wife. One thing I’ve wanted in the WWE games.
I do enjoy this game, but its super limited on match types. 2v2 option is literally just a traditional tag. Cant even turn off DQ. Reversals are inconsistant and the pin/sub method is awful. Hopefully in future updates they can build onto this game
Hopefully, they update the laggy buttons, give use some type of kick out system, cause mashing buttons, barely works. And I hate hate not having the right trigger for running pressing b sucks
Got the All Elite editions for my PS5 and Switch. Having a blast. Damn fun game. Hopefully they flesh out the Created wrestler parts and options and add more match types. Regardless what it lacks I'm enjoying TF out of it. 😎🙌
For me the gameplay is great, BUT… I just wish they didn’t make it so fast paced. I wish there was an option to slow it down. I also wish momentum would drop off more to really give it that back and forth feel. And I wish kick outs where more unpredictable. Like I’ve never seen a kick out after a finisher and wrestler on danger, it’s always game over. You always know when you’ve won or lost. Also I wish you could hide the momentum meter in options for doing COM vs COM matches so things come as a surprise when watching. It’s great but I’d just really like to see a few of these tweaks made.
I'm Just glad to have a wrestling game on switch that plays well the creation suite Is the biggest let down for me they have a feature to edit an In game wrestler but that's limited to... t shirt and the selection of t shirts Is so low, lower than the CAW options but It's Just fun, the gameplay really Is like the old N64 and PS2 era games and after years with WWE 2K It's nice to have a game like this Also worth mentioning they plan to update the game over years so new characters, arenas, mini games etc
My only complaints are the matches can be over in 3 minutes, the pin system of mashing every button. I never liked that pin system in the old svr games and I very much enjoy the current 2K pin system of mashing one button as there I know I'll have a chance at kicking out and then the creation suite was the biggest disappointment for me especially when knowing that it's Yukes behind the game.
Had Sting vanish into the ring in the middle of my tag team match with him. Turned my 2v2 into a handicapped match. Happened again with Matt Jackson, game is fun but not without its flaws. Hopefully they’ll fix it all.
This is good for the first game in the series… WWE games now have had decades of foundations to build on… however, my game now crashes every time I start a match😒
@@lawless130 Do you know how many times staff have come and gone fro Yuke's? Do you actually believe that there are really still people there who were working on their old, classic wrestling games?
This first game is no more than a Trial for THQ and AEW .. They will take the good and negative reviews and learn from them . Wishing THQ and AEW the best for years to come 🎉
@@MR.__G Meaning ProtoType , Sample , See How the sales go on there first Official Video game , a test run etc etc ... This will tell THQ and AEW how to make the NEXT game even better .
@@RicoChrisRage a prototype / test run shouldn’t be sold at full price. This isn’t the first wrestling game. They’ve been around for years & we have already been accustomed to certain things. Match type / variations, in depth creation mode, commentary, numerous game modes, community suite, full entrances have all been the norm for years. No excuse to develop a game for 3 years & included none of the above
@@RicoChrisRage It's essentially a early access game being charged at full price, not only that they charging DLC wrestlers who should have been in the game in first place. This game is a nostalgia cash grab by AEW and THQ.
@@TheDeviantProthey basically robbed them at plain sight ! This game isn’t worth more than 30 bucks. How did this game not even have a tornado tag option 😅😅 that’s been around since n64.
Same as you, the game play is good, fun game breath of fresh air something new, but it seems like its not complete, and if they can keep updating the game and adding things wel by next year this good be one hell of a game
I love the core gameplay, though it doesn't quite reach No Mercy. It's closer to the Def Jam games, in fact, which isn't a bad thing. The creation suite flat-out sucks, and it's made worse by the fact that you're pretty much required to go through Elite mode to make them usable. It's a horrible experience for those who like to create a lot of wrestlers. The lack of match types hurts, especially when exhibition mode is lacking matches that appear in Elite mode. The minigames are an okay diversion, I guess, but I wish the time spent on them had been used to make exhibition mode (which is the real meat of the game) into a more varied experience. I do love that the tag team AI is generally much better than WWE 2K, though. The difficulty leaves a lot to be desired; even on higher difficulty, matches rarely last longer than a few minutes. Those can be fun, but I definitely miss the longer, more epic matches I've been able to have in the WWE 2K games. Even No Mercy generally allowed for longer matches, because the momentum changes weren't quite so drastic. Button mashing to get out of a pin or submission definitely has a more desperate feel than something like a timing meter, but it also feels like whether you'll be successful is decided beforehand. Gone are the false finishes and last-second kickouts that can make wrestling games so fun. Overall it's a good game, but it's disappointing in some very baffling ways.
Is there a similar battle royal like there was in wcw nwo and no mercy? I really liked that when you could play 4 player and the player that got eliminated got to play the next entrance
It looks really fun to play. To me wrestling games peaked with Here Comes the Pain. So it's great to see it seem like that. I hope it does well and can get a sequel. Now they have the basic game in place, a sequel can build on it and add so much stuff. A mighty tree doesn't become so unless you support the seed. Buy this game now and it could turn into an amazing game series.
The reason it is titled “Fight Forever” is because the idea is to rather than update yearly. Let this one game break for a few years 2-4+ and constantly update it adding new features and modes think GTA for example how for the past 10,years they have been updating the game rather than going on to GTA 6.
@v3zzthegemini934 Constant updates would be awesome. Look what happened to No Mans Sky. If they can support it and add modes and match types, I'm all for it. It does require healthy sales though for the developers to maintain interest. They should probably make that clearer, though, with their marketing. They have some DLC coming, but they should always reinforce that with...there's more to come. Right now it's 3 packs and nothing announced for the future.
Are you joking? 2007 way better than here comes the pain. 2006, 2008, 2012 and 13. 2k14, 16 and 19 better than here comes the pain😂. That shit was fun for its time bur peek please 😅
Given that it’s a full price game in line with the cost of WWE 2K you have to judge it on those terms, and on those terms it is very poor. With updates I’m sure it could be better, but there’s no case to be made for this being worth what’s being asked for it.
It’s literally a $60 game when y’all be paying $100 for 2k that glitches every fucking year y’all complain to 2k a lot this is AEW first game they said it wasn’t gonna be much in it it’s supposed to be fun to play not taking seriously this Is THQ & Yukes Not 2k there’s gameplay is shit still to this day
@MOW3caya "literally a $60 game" then let's fucking judge it like that. Its unfinished and lacking content. Also, the "it's Yukes and THQ not 2k" is an awful excuse. Yukes have been making wrestling games for quite literally 2 decades, there is absolutely no excuse.

I think while I had fun with Fight Forever it does have allot of issues that stop it from being great & leave it being an ok game. Fight Forever is a great party game to play with friends & is very enjoyable but as a single player game it really lacks content & features to keep you engaged . Within an hour I played every match type availabl. Outside of exhibition matches the only other modes the game offers are mini games & road to elite. While the mini games are fun once I played them once I didn't feel the need to play them again. Road to Elite was hyped up to & with the lack of game modes I was hoping for a long in depth mode unfortunately the mode only lasts two hours. I played as Adam Page became world champion & then the game didn't acknowledge I was world champion until the end of the mode. Most video games when it comes to stories usually at minimum have an eight hour story at maximum can go up to 60 hours. WWE 2k23 two myrise stories had 30 hours of stories with John Cena showcase having five hours of content. I do think with how lackluster the content is & how basic the creations are id have to give the game a six out of ten. I think Fight Forever needed another game Mode like a GM Mode or a Universe Mode to offer more for players. This does feel like a foundation game. If your an AEW fan you should buy the game but if your someone new looking to get into wrestling games & you have to choose between Fight Forever or WWE 2K23. I'd recommend buying 2K23 as there more content & replay ability
It’s a pretty cool game being away from the simulation side like 2K and just having crazy fun with FF. I think it’s worth it if you just want to chill and have fun.
I like the game, it's enjoyable, and it's exactly what Kenny Omega said. Arcade style game. I love the gameplay, as it feels like WrestleMania 19, and Day of reckoning, and the feel of no mercy. This is Yuke's and THQnordic. Kenny Omega didn't want everything in the game, as he wants it to evolve as the games progresses and I totally understand his reasoning. Yes, there's a few minor issues, which will be fixed, and that's alright with me. Omega wants to bring back the arcade style of wrestling games, and he did just that. I'm not rating this at all, because I completely enjoyed this game, and it stood out for me. To end this all on a good note, now everyone has an alternative wrestling game if you don't always want to play WWE 2k. Overall, I love this game. Everything about this has potential
No offense to anyone but I don't feel like there's any reason to get this game. It's just way too limited and the roster is very outdated and small. The creation suite is very disappointing too. Even if the game is fun it just doesn't have much to offer.
Probably gonna wait for it to go on sale. I've played it at a friend's and the actual gameplay is fun, but the caw being so limited really hurts it for me because that's where I live in wrestling games. And the roster is very strange to me, like Yuka Sakazaki is in it (who honestly I don't even remember) but Jamie Hayter isn't, like what???
I love it, but the pin system is a disaster. Its literally impossible to kick out of a pin after a finisher, and if you are the one to pin, its impossible for your opponent to kick out. Im begging they fix this bs as soon as possible. I don’t understand how it can be so difficult for them to get such a basic thing right in a wrestling game…
For how long they worked on it its Wildly outdated and cheap. I thought they were updating it but apparently it was so rough that just making it playable took this long
@@gherreraj I know the game outlast. A game built from the ground up by a significantly smaller team of independent workers who turned a million dollar budget into 60 million profit. It has nothing to do with development time, it has everything to do with the developers
Gameplay is incredibly fun, they've built a great foundation... But certain match types missing is just unacceptable for 2023 at this price point. This game is severely lacking content, and THAT is what holds this back from being a great game. I love the art direction they've gone with, I've seen so many gripes with the graphics, but I personally like it... 2k already has the realism, this was a smart route to go with. If this game added more multi man match options to tag team, lights out, ladder ect.. Add in a cage match, tables match...toggle options such add no dq, elimination, submission/pins ect... And feature more of the roster in the shop that we can unlock with our aew dollars, plus dlc for Njpw/ROH/aaa, more creation tools, ect. There's so much they could do with the shop, new attires, I know aew had a street fighter action figure version of the elite... They could add something like that, where you get a special version of Omega as Akuma thats more powerful and with a new moveset that you have to unlock for like $2 million aew dollars. Make the shop worth grinding for. Add new arenas, championships, wrestlers you get to unlock and buy. There's so many possibilities. Especially if the game is a stand alone and not an yearly release. Though unlikely, a continous season mode (they could call it fight forever mode) it would make this game amazing. It just lacks content... Therefore it's a 6.5/10, it could be 8/10 with proper updates.
I think its a decent start for a new series. WCW Revenge and WM2000 were also "bare bones" games but we played the hell out of them. I hope they tighten the gameplay next year and add backstage and cage matches. Im gonna buy thiss because im starving for a wrestling game that isnt 2k garbage
Would have been so much easier to add match type options like iron man, elimination, 2 out of 3 falls than add those crappy mini games no one cares about. Im liking the game so far as i was excited about the gameplay but i feel its a scaled back 2k product with the game bugs and glitches yukes are known for. Hoping this get no man sky'd and within a year or 2 constant updates will fill this game with content 🙏
