Your friend is not jealous... He's correct. When you are an experienced camera man, you have a greater sensitivity to flaws. I own two AG-AF101 myself. I have them for 1 year and a half. Panasonic did advertise the camera as conceived for "stable" shooting, meaning that it's not too easy to operate handheld. Not impossible... But certainly not easy. Your friend immediately realized it: It's a camera ergonomics for using in tripod. I like my cameras... But I would choose differently nowadays.

Sorry, this review should not be taken seriously, you have simply reviewed the camera as a literal run & gun style camera without thinking about your shots or any shot design (apart from the couch interview which 'surprise' came out looking clean). This camera is fantastic and holds up against a lot of cameras today, there are dozens of positive reviews by pro-users (including my own company) that use this camera daily. I would recommend learning and understanding cameras before reviewing.

Hi, I was shooting with the AF101 in a film school shoot with a lens that went from f/4 to F5.6 (not constant). During the shooting the iris jumped to F/9, and the instructor said, "You must have bumped the dial." So I said, "How do you lock it down," and he said, "Just keep your fingers off it," which I did. But a few minutes later it was back up to f/6. Was I doing something wrong?

I disagree with William Ridenour. There are lots of videos on RU-vid explaining how great this camera is without giving a balanced criticism. I thought this was a great review even if it did lean towards negative aspects of the camera.

I think your friend might be secretly jealous. I have heard good reviews on this camera however it does look a little silly with a pancake lens, but it gives good shots so who cares

I believe that you are using a camera whch costs is around £4000 and a very cheap lens on the market (£200 to £500)... I'm sorry but I recommend you to buy a £3000 to £4000 and then you will get what you asked for !!! Try to put a cheap lens like that to the JVC and you will love the Panasonic :)

This video seems to be more about what this camera isn't rather than what it is. You said at the start you wanted to use it for interviews, and, at the end, it seemed to work fine for that purpose.. Yet, your analysis here is about everything else. Let's have some consistency here. The purpose you bought it for and its performance seems to match well. Your only disappointment is that your teacher did not fall in love with it---concentrating on what it's not and ignoring what it is. Again, let's have some consistency here!--after all, no camera is all things to all men and can easily be criticized. And your review was almost ALL about talking about what the camera is not. That's no review. What's really great about it? You don't really know because you've not taken enough time to really live w ith it and appreciate its virtues. Try that first--THEN point out its weaker points.

So, you're putting shitty old glass on a high tech camera camera.... And you're disappointed. I own a AF101 the image with decent glass is incredible.

The "best camera operator in holland" compares his broadcasting camera with AF100 which is a digital cinema camera??? lmao. The man who has done this review i'm afraid he has no idea about cameras and for the one who refers that he is a best camera operator in holland, i'm afraid to see the worst. lol
