@@blackmagic5613 You definitely don't need a following. There are many ways to make money affiliate marketing, but a niche affiliate website is the gold standard. You can also do affiliate marketing on RU-vid or other social media platforms too (you don't need a following to start either).

Excellent video Greg. I also have a college degree and was going to go for a masters and that's when I had to sit down and break things down. Like you I am not discouraging anyone from going to college but it boils down to what you are expecting to gain from attending college. I realized that getting a masters in my field (Criminal Justice) would not allow me to live the kind of lifestyle I envision for myself and my family nor would working for someone else. This motivated me to start my fist business which was a trucking business and ever since, it's just been a matter of what business fits better into my vision for me and my family. This is my advice to anyone who desires to go to college, don't go to college with a mindset of coming out to find a good job rather go in with the mindset of coming out to create one. Keep up the awesome work Greg.

Greg, I found your channel about 3 days ago and your enthusiasm has motivated me SO much that I've already created 20 shirt designs, and an Instagram to go with it. This video is AMAZING. I find it sad that so many people are pushed into college because it's the societal norm when a lot of the students have no idea why they're even going in the first place. You're doing a great thing on here.

Love you videos. I am a father of 2, military vet and fellow entrepreneur. You mention in most the affiliate marketing videos about not making money the 1st year, $1000 the second and up till it plateaus. Why a year? What is so magical about the second year and third year? Especially if you never touching it again? Thanks for explaining this more in depth or hey it may make a good video. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for the comment and excellent question. The short answer is, it takes time for Google to find your articles, test them in rankings, see what they want to rank it for best, then get them ranked properly. This on average takes about 35 weeks from the time you publish the article. With that said, I say a year because it's a modest prediction and better to have the long run mindset than short term :) I hope that helps!

Awesome thanks for the reply. So I see we making 30 quality posts and mostly reviews and from the ranking you will earn more each year. Is the main source of money that is increasing each year from ads or the products? I ask this because let’s say rock climbing shoes. After 2 years those shoes may not be relevant any more yet you state the funds increase each year from the site. So trying to figure out how does the site income increase each year a lot even though each year the review and said product is also a year older. Thanks

Great question! Ad revenue will definitely increase with views over the years, however it's the overall increase in affiliate sales that you will notice the biggest income increase from. With that said, if you have a product that is more "evergreen" then you can never go wrong because it will stay relevant over the years. Even with something like rock climbing shoes for example, over the years, they are still so niche specific that shoes form years ago will still be relevant (unlike everyday Nike's for example). I hope that helps, and remember the biggest thing is being niche specific so that the specific products you recommend are relevant because you have the most information on them and it fits the customers needs exactly (as opposed to them just going on Amazon and looking for the 'latest and greatest' and taking the risk).

Greg , you quickly became one of my favorite online marketing yt channels out there , sooo glad world have a guy like you , i cannot tell you how I am motivated , ive been watching affiliate marketing litteraly now for about 4 months , and learning and saving everything on yt, because my laptop is not working and it cannot be fixed , i have another one from my dads but its his laptop and it's from company that he works for, so I did not wanted to start anything on it because i knew i will depend on when he wants to be on his laptop , so i found a really good paying summer job this summer , and I am planning buying a laptop and spend 50% of money on affiliate marketing. Right now i will keep watching affiliate marketing videos and take knowledge as much as I can before i buy my laptop , it is better to learn and not just sit if i cannot do anything now , right ? 👍😛 btw. I'm 17/18 years old and really this became my opsession , i decided long time ago i wont be going to college because of affiliate marketing , I just want to show my parents i can do something on my own, and you give me hope to do that! Imagine if you kept the pace of affiliate marketing from this video: by the time you are 22 years old you will be nearing $500,000 per year in profit.. Not too shabby :) Most people will just be graduating college with debt and trying to find a job..You'll be hiring them lol..

Greg, well done explaining the ROI models between the 2 different investments. I even believe your model is just slightly on the conservative side....i.e. Your model could be scaled by even the sole proprietor hiring under contract 1 true industry professional/xpert. My personal background is 35 years in high tech. I wish the service model infrastructure were already in place (to do 30 yrs ago what you are teaching us to do today. Today's ROI scalable business models in both Print on Demand and Affiliate marketing is truly impressive. I just hope and pray that some of us taking your course right now can be, at a minimum, graduate with. B- grade. Even passing the 4 year investment with a B would lead to a relatively comfortable semi-retirement model after 4-5 years. I just hope that this agreed to ROI model is taken with a Dose of Reality and balance. Only a minor % of your students might pass with an A or B grade, resulting in a realistic ROI model IMHO. Thank you for your scalable investment in this curriculum we are all aspiring to graduate with today. So we can soon branch out into the new brave free markets. Regards

You are spot on Dan.. For many people they won't have the means to outsource to grow faster (in the beginning at least), or the instinct to do so later on to scale further. However, by doing so you can really, and I mean really, increase the numbers :)

Remember everybody, the best time to plant a tree is 20 years ago, the second best time is today! I do have a question though. I've just started my first affiliate website on Wix by tomorrow I'll have my 30 articles up and posted (with adsense soon to follow thanks to this video), my question is, assuming my content is decent, how long do you think it takes before I'm no longer operating at a loss? In other words, will I break the $20/mo that it costs to run within a month or will I need to stick with it longer?

@jp b I actually think I've got a pretty good answer for both of those. When I'm writing an article I always subdivide it first. I'll kind of plan out the different parts of the article and give them subheadings before I start writing. Then instead of one 600-word article, it's more like 6 100-word pieces that are a lot more manageable. And you can tweak the numbers for whatever your goal is but you can just divide the total words by the number of sections you've got and make sure each section hits its individual word count.

@jp b I started on Wix and I think it was important to build my "I can really do this" confidence. But since then I've moved to Wordpress on Siteground because it's way cheaper, especially for multiple sites. While I'm still waiting for things to take off I didn't want to be spending too much.

I totally agree! It's just a long term play that's hard to see the benefit unless someone with experience doing it shares their experience. With that said, I linked 2 videos in the description (1 for WIX and 1 for WordPress), and both of them go over how to find a niche in the beginning :) Quite frankly, the niche is good to look into but I've had success with websites that say they are supposed to be super competitive and saturated, so I would use the research as reference but don't let it scare you from starting a site. The best thing you can do is just get a site going (in any niche) and get 30 posts on it, you will thank yourself in a year :) I hope that helps!

I not only listen and love your videos, I pause and do exactly as you teach. One of your videos took 10 hours to get through at the end of which I had an affiliate marketing wix website in the affiliate marketing training niche with 30 article/video posts and I have since added 4 more video/article pages. No sales, no commissions but, it's there forever, shame about not being able to add adsense.

Probably one of your most eye-opening informational topics you've ever shared with us in my opinion. But I do have questions how does this very per type of niche or items you choose as an affiliate website. Also do you have a video on how to incorporate AdSense into a niche website I know you did the one on shoes do you have any other step by step videos on something different? Thanks Greg.

Thanks Markess! It's definitely eye opening to see the long term numbers laid out like this. The niche and products do not heavily have an effect on the revenue of the site. Further, having more expensive products typically means less purchases, and less expensive products means more purchases. When everything is said and done, sites with low ticket products can easily do the same amount of revenue as sites with high (or higher) ticket products. I like to have a combination of both. Sometimes the niche doesn't really have any high ticket products that make senses promoting, so some sites are all lower ticket Amazon products. Other times, you're able to find a few higher ticket products to mix into the site. It's all just about getting a lot of posts and a lot of sites out there, then it all generally brings in substantial income over time :) In regards to adsense, I don't actually have a tutorial on that yet! For WIX, it's as easy as just adding the adsense app from the app market and filling out the info there, but I can certainly add an adsense video to my video list!

Hi Greg, absolutely loving your content! You have really inspired me to dip my toe into the world of affiliate marketing and PoD. My question though is - you say in the 1st year that the site will make $0, but is it truly $0 for the entirety of this 1st year? You mention that sites typically will reach peak traffic at about 35 weeks, so that seems contradictory to me. I'd be pretty ecstatic if I even managed to earn enough each month to offset the Wix monthly subscription. Surely that would be possible in the first couple of months or so?

I believe he meant that each individual post will hit peak traffic at 35 weeks, not the site itself. So if 35 weeks is 9 months let's say, then the post you made 9 months ago should be hitting peak traffic. The post you wrote 7 months ago should hit peak traffic in 2 more months.

Compared to academic research papers, writing blog posts is a breeze!

Awesome video again Greg. I have O direct experience but wouldn't the sites begin to see declining traffic after a point as the content becomes stale and products reviewed become dated? Just seems logical that there is a point of diminishing returns. At what point would you discontinue a site and shut it down? Thanks!

Great question! To my surprise, and probably yours too, they can last for a looooong time (talking decades). I've seen sites from Income School that they have had up, and not touched, for years and they are still bringing in these numbers consistently. Google needs good content to show in search, so if you are the one creating this good content, Google will show it!

Hey thanks for the comment and the support! I get swamped with Q's on all communication channels lol... I stick solely to the comments to respond to keep it efficient. My advise is, if the niche looks somewhat good on the metrics, and you have somewhat of a passion or interest for the topic, go for it :) I've had success with niches that were not even supposed to do good on paper, so I really think it's hard to go wrong on the niche if you put in all the work. I hope that helps :)

I have two courses on Udemy, which will also get you 1-on-1 reviews of your sites, but the majority of the information is already on my RU-vid channel. With that said, I definitely prefer Wix because it is so easy to create and the SEO is so easy and effective!

Hi Greg, I've watched a ton of other videos about affiliate marketing in 2021 and they're saying that blogs are dead and that the only way to succeed is by doing RU-vid videos about the products. Is there any truth to this? Thanks!

Hey thanks for asking because that's a great question. In short, no it is 100% not dead. It's alive and well. Google is getting really good at showing only the good content, so people who are posting really bad content are the ones not seeing success. Spending time creating well written content is well worth the time around the start of 2022. I hope that helps!

It's seems that adding new content to your websites, such as new products when they first come out with reviews and lists including those new products, would only increase these numbers. I can understand why getting to 30 posts would be a priority, so that you could move on to a new site & new niche, but it seems like it would be it would be minimal effort to add some new content to an existing site to keep the content fresh. From your experience, would it be more beneficial to focus on creating new sites or adding some fresh content to the sites you've already built?

I agree with you 100% on this. You can always keep popping back in and adding a new article here and there. The reason I recommend the 30 and then move on is to get the bigger picture across. The main advantage to multiple sites (30+ articles each) is the pure diversification of income streams :)

I know that this is a very hypothetical question, but if you were to lets say have 100 blog posts that you wanted to write, in general would it be better to have those all on one big site that is monetizing with better ads and more rankings being driven to that one domain, or would it be better to stick to the roughly 30 per site and build out like 3 sites, maybe with 35, 35, 30? I know there is a lot of variability in this question it will obviously matter a lot what niche and how profitable they are, but assuming all are roughly in the same niche, how would you structure your sites? I am very new and looking at how I want to structure my efforts in the coming months. P.S. The reason I am going to try my hand at Affiliate marketing is because of you Greg, I have loved your videos and want to go the next step from just knowing what you are teaching to practicing it. Hi. I have been binge watching your videos all week. Yes, I have been hitting those like buttons :-) Have you personally had long term success with your own affiliate niche websites past the first year? Right now I have been thrifting and selling on ebay and Poshmark and those businesses are very labor intensive and are certainly not passive. I really like the idea of investing into long-term profitable (eventually passive) businesses. My husband and I have 6 kids and we are really struggling to support our every day needs. I am willing to do the work. I just want to know if you personally have earned $3,000+ per month from one of your own websites. It's hard to know who to trust online. You seem like an honest guy. Also, one more question: how long do these posts generally take to write? My college essays took 4+ hours to write each one. Thank you in advance for answering my questions, Naomi

Yes these sites are profitable ($3,000/mo+) but it's definitely a long term play. 2 years+ is when you will see these kind of numbers, however if you can create multiple sites within that 2 years, you are setting you future up nicely. It usually takes me a full day, or 2, to write 1 post. I aim for quality though and if research needs to be done, it adds time. Minimum of 1000 words and up to 3000 words if possible. Great question. I've done it both ways and not all websites will work as well as others. I've wasted a lot of time and money on a 600+ article website that did not succeed. I wish I had diversified into 20 different niches to see which ones really took off. Hope that helps give some context 👍

Do you feel that it is a bad idea to have an affiliate site that is also linked to your POD, and youtube channel like what you suggested in your $700 (or was it $100?) /day video?

Okay Greg, this sounds absolutely amazing indeed. I have very basic knowledge about affiliated marketing, but my assumption is that your main income will be through Google ads, and ads in general, right? So, doesn't your income depend on the traffic your website gets? I mean, if your website doesn't get any visitors, you won't have that $100 per month after the first year, right? Or am I missing something?

Paulie77 thanks for commenting and I’m glad you asked! The majority of the income actually comes from affiliate offers. You can sign up to be an affiliate for any company and basically any product, then in your articles on your website you can recommend these products with your affiliate link, and then you get a commission when someone buys it. The Google ads will definitely generate income, but is not of the majority of the income. I recommend checking out the links in the description, as they will walk you through a lot about affiliate marketing and will give you everything you need to understand and get started!

I feel like I'm missing something... I understand the cost of Wix per month, but what about the cost of domains? You have to have a separate domain for each affiliate website, no??

No worries :) The cost of the wix plan per month includes the domain for the first year (wix gives you the domain for free the first year). Then year 2 and on you pay for the domain separately, and it cost about $15 per year (just over $1 per month). Each new site needs it's own plan and own domain. I hope that makes sense!

Yes they are pretty modest and definitely realistic. I’ve far exceeded these on some. As for relevance today, yes making an affiliate website is still relevant but harder than it was years ago because ChatGPT written articles are competing in Google ranks. Video coming out about that specifically in the next couple weeks (just finishing it up now actually). 2024+ affiliate marketing is going to be all about videos. I made a video about this recently “best business for 2024” that goes into a bit more detail. Earnings for these are way higher too. Hope that helps!

Great question! The main difference is the ongoing work. Affiliate sites are set it and forget it (once you make 30 posts on the site, you move on and don't have to touch it ever again). RU-vid channel is a full time job, recording, editing, uploading, and answering comments everyday for the 4 years :)

Exactly! That would be a nightmare to manage all of them! You're right, once you get the 30 posts published on them, all you have to do is make sure you are paying your hosting fee and domain fee every year to keep them live :)

Great question! I recommend 1000+ words per post. This is not required, however it seems to get the content ranked on Google better than shorter posts. I hope that helps!

Thanks! Yes you are comfortable with WP then you can save a ton with the unlimited bluehost plan :) Either way, the sites will pay for themselves in time but WP comes with the lower upfront/ongoing cost.

Great question! Actually yes but it's terrifying in the first few months when you aren't earning anything! Just know that it will take on average 35 weeks (8-9 months) to start bringing in substantial traffic. I think the hardest part is just getting 30 posts out there, my instinct is that this is where most people fail. I hope that helps!

Somethings not quite adding-up. The stuff you write in year one should be outdated by year two and year three. I wouldn't think those old articles would be usable any longer on year two and year three. I would think that instead, you would have to write new articles each year to replace the old articles from the previous year(s) as many products are refreshed on a yearly basis and thus would require new articles written for them.

I like this , and actually with Bluehost if your Are using Wordpress you create unlimited Websites with 7$ A month , Now the real Question is how much time do you need to make 1K a month , and how much advertisment and ads , and is 1K minimum if you write Goooooooddd content or you can make more or even less and how much hard work you need to put in it ? is it like write 30 articles and forget about them cause i see a lot of bloggers making 6 figgures and am like is it lies or no Thank you Gregg for the videos keep it up

Thanks for asking! I haven't personally used it before, but just briefly looking into it, it looks like an commerce theme? I might be wrong, but if it is, it will take a bit of customizing on your end.. Any theme will work, it's just a matter of getting it to look good, and function intuitively for the user. I think you could make it work if you've got some experience with WordPress :)

Hi Greg! I just want to say how much I love your videos and how you explain how affiliate marketing works. You make it look it is possible! I have question for you. So you are saying that it takes 30 blogs for google to recognize my website as a complete website. And it takes about 35 weeks for my blogs start showing up in google search. You are saying that we will not earn any money for at least a year. I am totally fine with that; however, my concern is that amazon affiliate marketing program requires you to make at least 3 sales in the first 6 months. So what is your advice on that? How can I make at least 3 sales in the first 6 months. I have made a website earlier this year and posted almost 30 blogs but I haven't applied for amazon affiliate program yet until I bring more traffic to my website so I can make sales so I dont' get disqualified from the program. I would really appreciate if you could respond because this 6 months rule by amazon really concerns me. Keep up to good work!
