cold air falls hot air rises, i see a cold floor since its not plumbed into the bunk ac ducts. the tripacs i have seen installed cut into the factory ducts and drivers still complain they cant hang meat and its hot

I have that set up, and when it's really hot out, it's not comfortable in the truck. I can't imagine them blowing on the floor. That's going to be miserable.

Once you close the bunk how does the air return back to the unit to re-circulate? You should allow for a transfer grille as your fan is probably working overtime to counter the pressure drop which equals more power usage.

Alot of beds do not seal very good at all so I'm wouldnt be worried about return air. Some have holes all to use as a return air.

Shouldn’t there be alternator upgrade for this system ? Ur probably going to burn out a standard factory one awful quick, u could offset that with some solar panels to give u more run time too

HA e you looked into these batteries? Ionic Lithium 12V Group 31 | 3000 CA | LiFePO4 Heavy Duty Diesel Starter Battery. Wonder what battery is better, This one has a built in jump start as well.

I’d be careful using those ionic lithium batteries. I want to go full lithium in my truck but I’m scared to because of the nature of lithiums. You can’t charge them if the temp drops below freezing. So I checked the data sheet for ionic batteries, they won’t charge if the temp drops below 24 degrees F. Even if you heat these, most won’t charge below 0 F. For my set-up, I decided to do was put my battery bank inside the cab. Since this is my first time doing this, I left my original AGM batteries intact and use the lithium’s to power a potable AC unit in a separate circuit in case my experiments doesn’t work. I’m watching the temps of these batteries. The real test will be this winter. If I have no issues, I’ll probably just remove the 4 AGM batteries in the back (I have a total of 8 AGM batteries, 4 in the box in front and 4 in a box in back). I wont go full lithium because i don’t trust lithiums in the cold. The important thing to remember is that these types of lithium batteries have severe limitations and you should be aware of them. Using them as your main battery bank is very dangerous unless you ONLY operate in the warmer states and as you have seen. These states still experience cold spells. Imagine using your batteries overnight and you deplete them and when you wake up, it’s really cold and your batteries won’t charge. Just keep that in mind as you try to embrace this technology.

Guess it’s bettter to have a compact power generator added to the frame rail on a underbody toolbox and now day there is a super small room ac unit you can put on your window.. and forget about all that work just to see if it works or not

We have starting lithium batteries that have the feature build in to them that when batteries are at 10%, it will go to sleep and save the battery for starting the truck

The unit has a auto cutoff feature which you can set a voltage and the unit will automatically shut off when the voltage drops below

Will, that system really work with a 60 inch standup sleeper. Seems like it might be low on BTUs, but I’m an amateur. When it’s 90° outside that’s when I need it.

It won’t. My experience. I have about 560 AH (which is equivalent to 5.5 of these 100AH batteries you see in his set-up) I got a portable AC unit that pulls about 8000 BTU (comparable to his setup). The unit I have is the new efficiency units with 2 exhaust hoses. This setup keeps me comfortable but doesn’t really cool the cab (the interior temp was around 75 when outside temp was in the 90’s, no shade, parked in an asphalt parking lot). The real issue is that if I stand up, the temp is in the mid 80’s. As you know hot air rises and cold air falls. The real problem is that these truck have little insulation so 8000 BTU is not enough to overcome the heat radiating from the roof. So I setup where the cool air is blowing at the ground won’t be very effective. It looks nice, but I doubt you will satisfied in a hot summer day in the south or even in the north.

Also can you do 2 of the starting batteries and use two of your LifePO starting batteries together without doing any kind of change? Thought about adding them in my truck but do not need to add all 4 at this time.

NO, Lithium should to be completely separate charged by a DC-DC charger or solar. Unless they're specifically designed to drop in to a car/truck

So these lithium batteries can be charged direct from alternator but lithium house banks need a DC to DC charger? Makes no sense. Both these batteries and the Lightning volt take a 100amp charge.

There is no lithium battery under the bed. This setup uses Lifepo4 starting batteries located in the same location as truck batteries. The only component under the bed is the compressor of the AC unit and the Espar heating system. Even if a Lifepo4 battery was under the bunk, Lifepo4 batteries are not the batteries that are catching on fire you see, read, and/or hear about on the news. In fact, Lifepo4’s are the very same batteries used in RV’s across the world. How many RV’s have you seen, read about, or heard about burning down due to Ligepo4 batteries catching on fire?
