Every time I shop for denim, I'm like "Is it me? Am I the problem?". The stores never have a variety of sizes. I had the absolutely worst experience at AE last week. I don't mind sizing up to accommodate my waist and tailoring. The length, inseam and the opening at the bottom are starting to be such a problem for me.
This is the story of my life with denim! I’m 4”11 w/ a big butt and a smile 😂 gap cheeky straight have been a saving grace for me and Abercrombie for certain fits. I have to be in a great mood to shop for denim.
We are curvaceous creatures and rarely fit a particular size without issue! Shopping for denim is exactly as you express: make sure you're full, hydrated and have the energy for the journey because it will be taxing😏🤷🏾♀
Love this!!.. I haven't shopped for jeans in a minute. There was a moment when ALL jeans were distressed - and I wanted plain jeans. YES the frustration is real!
Got lots of junk in my trunk and I’m always reaching for my Levi Classic Straight pair of jeans I got from Kohls for ~ $40. I love them so much that when I gained pandemic weight, I bought the same pair in 1 size up. Can’t do the denim struggle.
I worked at GAP for years so there Demin I 😍 but since I don’t have a Local Gap I still wear my old jeans or Old Navy and a brand at TJMAXX (1822) jeans are soft those are my favorite
Thanks for sharing your experience!!! Buying jeans was not a favorite chore of mine until I tried Abercrombie’s Curve Love brand and Good American. The jeans fit me well and are good quality.
I loved watching this video because I have the hardest time finding jeans, and it felt like you went to go try on clothes for me! I only have 2 pairs of jeans and both are vintage Levi's. Those are the only ones that fit!
As much as I love shopping it’s frustrating when I have a specific idea in mind… because the affordable options in store are no bueno. &&& I have a butt! Thanks for reminding me I’m not alone
As a designer jean lover, I actually recommend Lee jeans (the more premium versions). While not the "it" jean, their washes and fits are good. I would give the Riders style a try. Very Levi's 501. They run around $108, but often have sales. More room in the hip/thigh than Levi's.
Thanks for sharing this! As a 14/16 short torso, small waist, thick thigh, badonk-a-donk havin’ sista…I just can’t with denim right now. Last fall/winter I searched and returned and searched… this fall/winter… I’m not. I’m doing sweater dresses or something😑🥰
Very relatable I tried over ten pairs of jeans in gap the other day and it was so hard to find something I like. Finally left with some skinny jeans which was a shock but like you my body is in a weird place and I just needed to replace the pair I ordered online that sucked
I absolutely loved this video and your synopsis…I bought 1 pair of jeans from Target last year and have worn them down to the ground. Usually I do well at American Eagle though.🍪
Nordstrom Rack and Bloomingdale's always have high-end jeans at great prices. I personally love Joe Jeans, and there was a now-defunct brand called Saltworks that I loved. They have the perfect hip-waist ratio for stronger bodies. ☺
LOVE LOVE LOVED this vlog! It made me feel less alone with my denim shopping experience. these sizings TRASH. these washes UHUN. Struggle is real. I STILL haven’t found a good pair of jeans... 🙄
Oh and I was an American Eagle girl downnn for a while. However, there’s never any good ones in the stores near me now. Also, I’m just not a fan of rolling the dice every time I shop online for a pair of jeans.
For those of you who can't find your size in person or aren't afraid to shop online, Levi's still sells high quality denim. They may retail at $75+, but there are regular sales that make them affordable
Thanks for this video. Your video makes me realise that I wasn’t the only one struggling to find a jean. The balloon Jean aren’t for you, you make me laugh 😂 I like the dress and the Jean that you bought. I’m still on the hut for a straight mid rise jean classic wash with an affordable budget 😊
you are so fun to shop with... I kinda have the same ethos when Im shopping.. Like if you are going through this much internal struggle you dont want it that bad. I want to try on a barrel jean and you out here killin dreams (not really lol). Jeans are such a personal style touch. Bodies be bodying. I enjoy your content! tyyyy
Hi Carol , I’m a viewer and never comment, but when you tried on those horseshoe jeans, I almost dropped my coffee😂😂😂. I am not a fan of that style of jean but you made them funny.!
Aargghh I just went through the same denim shopping frustration recently. It's so hard to get the right fit, wash, length, style combo. It took me two countries (was travelling at the time) and countless hours before I finally found what I was looking for.
Queen cookie, you look so good! You're like glowing in these streets! And quiet as is kept, I would have bought every pair of jeans at American eagle if I was your size, you're definitely doing something right in the gym ma'am!!!! 😊
I totally feel you on this one. As for me, imagine shopping for a size 4 waist with a size 10 hip/butt area. It's super challenging and I alwayssssss end up taiyoring them regardless .
Loved this video and your experience shopping at these stores are all too common! I went from a size 8 to a 16/18 gradually and now I am in my grown woman body and to be so honest and frank when I enter stores nowadays I don't even try on pants or jeans because I already know I'm going to have the same depressing experience of nothing fitting my curves or my waist and just like you stated tailoring will end up costing the same as more high end pants/jeans. I've been shopping out my own closet at home but now I'm in between sizes as well and need a classic pair of jeans as well while I'm working on slimming down again. 🙏🏾
I used to really love J.Crew and Madewell for jeans - haven't been lately but still have a pair of old reliables from them in my closet. Levi's current styles are also pretty good, and I've found that I don't have to get them tailored at the waist because they have a little more stretch. Their shorts which were nice and structured - try them for jeans!
I agree that denim shopping can be so hard! I’ve had to narrow down the brands that work for me. Hudson jeans and Aritzia have been good choices for me.
I love your channel fellow Virgo! I have the same problem!! I'm very particular when it comes to my denim as well. I'm short with long legs and a short torso, a bit of booty, and thin about a size 25/26. I feel your pain and frustration. Thanks for the laughs!!☺☺☺
I found my favorite jeans at Zara they are the perfect fit, my favorite style (high waisted wide leg), and the perfect price. I love the jeans so much that I purchased them in every shade of denim black, grey, black stone washed, white, light denim, dark denim, and mid-wash ❤ As always great video!
I'm pretty standard size too and I have struggled with finding size and fit consistency with jeans across various brands (from affordable to high end). The only place that I have most success with is Topshop, which is surprising, but they have served me for years at this point.
Yes, I'm having this same issue, I am on the look out for loose, comfortable light-wash jeans. with a long seam. I just had to purge so many jeans since ya girl got thicker in the thighs and boot-tay by working out I can't fit my favorites...LOL I would love it if you could expand on this journey with an updated video because this cookie needs help.. 😉😊
I love the vlogs! Congrats on your new place in the Boogie Down! Guuuuurrrrl, the struggle to find jeans that fit comfortably AND that is flattering is real. Fortunately, I have a variety of thrift, vintage, and designer consignment places where I live and have found my go-to jeans (men's Levis) and lucked out on finding not-too-expensive vintage Levis. I don't buy jeans from those stores for the same reasons you mentioned.
I stopped at a store called Dry Goods for a pair of denim I absolutely love. They had other styles there too, I got the 90s fit with one slit at the knee because I didn't want a ton of cuts and rips through the leg like they had at American eagle. They were only $70
Hello Carolyn, I enjoyed the vlog and this was so educational for me! I have such a love hate relationship with jeans! I especially as an apple shaped plus sized baddie! 😜 I hate the barrel jeans they don’t make sense to me! And I’m over the excessive distressing too! Thanks for taking us along! Seeing Christian was a delight! He did pick great jeans for you. Side note that dress in that color was perfection! TFS 😊❤
Girllllll! I’m Hollering., I literally have tears 😮coming out my eyes when you tried on the barrel jeans., “ You like what is this? Why do y’all like these jeans??? Now that was funny, 😆 I don’t like them either
I felt crazy in those jeans! If they had a lot more length then I could lean with it rock wit it but those!! I looked like a I watching out for a flood!
Hello Carolyn, very informative video - thought it was just me as a "fluffy" woman 🤣. The major difference is most of us of a bigger size (14/16, curvy) can't always shop designer jeans because of their limited sizing. Anyho, I watched a documentary about the beautiful Sade and immediately I thought of you. Have you been told you look like Sade? Definitely a beautiful resemblance. Have a great week.
Hi Queen Cookie, I absolutely hate denim shopping. I'm a petite woman with a slight fupa situation, but it's so hard finding anything that is lower in cost for my body type. Yes it's frustrating.
You slayed the gray dress!! Those loafers looked so cute on you-it took me back to junior high with your socks on because that was what was up!!! You know I’m a boomer talking about junior high lol😂 of course it depends on what kind of denim and how you want to look in it but for me i have a certain price point for denim and I buy denim at J Jill…..
After the pandemic, I had to get rid of so many jeans and I bought a couple new pairs but I’ve misplaced a pair since then. So now I have to denim shop all over again. Denim shopping is always my least favorite along with bra shopping smh
I really enjoyed this. I feel like I was literally face-timing you and talking. Had me saying “oh yeh girl I see” when you were calling out the fit. What fits my thickness is Target 🤷🏽♀️
Girl, so I had to pause at this part where you're trying on jeans at AE. Now I must say every single pair looked good to me!!!! I'm a bit nervous to go jean shopping because if they don't work for you then I can only imagine what I'll have to deal with 😂😂😂😂😂 But seriously all that training and exercising is paying off like we see you girly!!!!
I love everything about your channel and appreciate your frustration for the rest of us who are not so straight bodied. One question, I often check out the Levi’s store for a classic style jean and will try both men and women’s where there are multiple inseam options. Any reason why Levi’s wasn’t a consideration?
Hey!! I have denim issues as well. I am tall and slim, with very little curves. So either everything cropped is super cropped on me or not long enough if it doesn’t come in tall. Balloon style looks horrible on me - gives diaper butt. Gotta watch the baggy too. I come out of Zara’s dressing room wanting to fight. Have to face that their jeans aren’t for me. Mother, GAP (mostly men’s), AE and Agolde work for me.
Buy Levi's...trust NYC has a Levi store. My ATL Levi store also does alterations (on any brand). Also Good American is all the rage with the curvy girls( good waist hip ratio but priced over a hundred) Or buy vintage denim from Goodwill, Salvation Army type thrift stores @ $10 or less , then have them altered. Or buy from mens store or dept store that do alterations. Good luck! Like the dress. Go back for the skirt.😂
As a curvy woman jeans are my least favorite thing to shop for. I’m 5’7 which makes it even harder because I like wearing heels with my denim. I look on eBay and Poshmark for the brands I like because it’s slim pickings in store.
I always struggled with finding jeans even at a size 24. I grew up on bloomies so I’m still holding on to seven, citizens and Paige like Noah on the arch. I do like Levi’s and Abercrombie if I’m considering affordable brand. Hm if I’m interested in heavily searching and upsetting myself
I hate jean shopping but picked up a pair of white denim high rise jeans on sale at Ann Taylor Loft final sale. I took a chance on the sizing and it was fine. Antropologie and Free People may be good places to look, but boy... I gave up waring jeans after college because the struggle is REAL. My last best pair were men's bought at the GAP. I thrifted everything after that and called it a day, the prices on jean are outrageous and I just can't bring myself to do it.
Carolyn I loved the jeans from the 2nd Zara the 1st pair those look really good on you I loved the length I’m the girl that jeans that above or at my ankle they don’t look good on me I feel like I’m wearing high waters even though it’s supposed to look like that 😂
Oh my girl, thank you for the shopping trip;MADE MY DAY!!You know what.....I've been living in Toronto for ages, but when I think of how I used to be teased, mocked and bullied about being too skinny and having an ass that doesn't meet Caribbean standards,...I could just bawl, because of how stupid I was,and how I was allowing society to influence/change my mindset about ME!!I HATE BIG ASS....I NEVER HAVE,AND I NEVER WILL!!Lady nothing is wrong with your ass,You're petite......why,oh why, would you want your ass the size of USA?I don't like fitting clothing on in store,my signature jeans;wide leg(the wider, the better).More like old Woodstock hippy jeans....nothing grabbing my olive garden and a wedgie concert, because that suites my frame;tall and slim.I find myself loving H&M jeans, lots of wide leg,and I buy bigger to get the length I need....or else everything is short.....sometimes male selection!H&M👖👖👖👖💙💙💙💙❤
🙃The many opinions in Aritzia with those communal mirrors...somedays I just can't. Wish someone would invent a blow-up mirror for my purse just for Aritzia trips. Love that gray dress on you! Christian was trying to help justify the horseshoe pants but he seemed a bit loss for words...😂😂 😂 Loved this shopping VLOG!
American Eagle is the place to go for jeans at a good price. I’ve been wearing American Eagle jeans since high school and I must say the quality is 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾. Abercrombie has nice jeans as well.
