Very nice and certainly helpful to amateurs like myself who’d like to start out. I’ll be referring to your helpful videos in the near future but for now I’ll enjoy the wildlife.

I have the Neewer gimbal which is exactly the same as yours, just a rebrand I think. I can attest its well worth the money, its very sturdy and has a smooth action. A bubble level in the base would have been nice though to help with leveling the tripod, I dont know why they put that bubble level on the side..

Nice sharp shots of the rabbit. With these long heavy lenses you do get a frustrating droop after framing sometimes. Which makes it awkward to use on a conventional head. This one make things a lot easier it seems.

Yes, the gimbal is better for a heavy rig, there are a lot of options out there, I would go for a mid-priced one now, unless money is no object :-) BB

How does it work for shorter lenses like 200-300mm without a lens tripod mounting?

Unfortunately, my backyard wouldn't make much justice to the use of a Gimbal Head. There's only the old neighbor cat, the magpies stealing off his kibble every once in a while and the occasional hedgehog hanging around in the flower beds to film =s That said apart, it's nice the technological advancement has made this kind of equipment so cheap! It's only the price of a good restaurant dinner.

I was going to say the same, strap is no good in this case.

Hi would this b ok for Nikon Coolpix p1000
@MyBackyardBirding
@MyBackyardBirding 4 года назад
Point and shoot cameras like my SX70 and Coolpix cameras are generally pretty light weight to use a gimbal with but it might work with heavier p1000 not sure.

as far as it doesnt break - and i dont break the 10k gear it would work i think
@estoylisto
@estoylisto 3 года назад
for a 10K gear 300$ isn't an issue ... but for a hobbyist with limited budget it makes a difference ... In my case the combination of the D7500 and the Tamron 150-600 G2 cost me around 1300$ so additional 300$ for rarely used gimbal doesn't worth it ... Also the G2 weight is way less than those extremely expensive gear (600mm f4 or 400 f2.8)

What is the brand? The link don't work anymore

That one is no more. There are a lot of gimbals on amazon - I can't speak for the other cheap ones as I didn't test them. Up to a certain point the more you spend the better the gimbal it just depends on how much you want to spend. BB

You've mounted the camera on it the wrong way round. You can't rest your left hand on the lens barrel for proper long lens technique.

My left eye is my aiming and filming eye - have never used the right eye
@jasondashney
@jasondashney 4 года назад
You might want to take a read at Rich's comment again. He was not referring to your eye but your hand. If you mount the gimbal on the other side of your camera it will be out of the way so you can rest your left hand on top of it to help with balance. Watch anybody use a gimbal, it will almost always be mounted on the other side.

@@jasondashney I don't know the gentleman, but if he is left handed, then for him, it is set the right way. Of course, whichever way he chooses to use his gear...is right for him.
@jasondashney
@jasondashney 4 года назад
@@OldPirateECU Every camera on the market has the shutter button on the right hand side which means unless you have a physical limitation you have to use your left hand for the barrel rings like zoom and focus. Until someone makes a left handed shutter camera, it will always mean you should mount the gimbal on the right hand side.
@OldPirateECU
@OldPirateECU 4 года назад
@@jasondashney I appreciate your opinion, but I personally prefer having it on the left side even though I am right handed. I can reach the barrel, focus, and zoom just fine even with it over there plus my left hand can turn the knobs, pull and push via the handle while my right hand is on the shutter. You may also wish to view the Wimberley company's video comparing their Side Kick gimbal version their full gimbal. Mr. Wimberley sets it up on the left side just like this gentleman does as he does for the sidekick too. I suspect the only right side, is the side the owner prefers. If Mr. Wimberley uses his on the left, and he makes the benchmark of all gimbals, then who am I to say that anyone is wrong?

Waste of money, after a few weeks or months it will have so much play, it will be useless, been there. Now bought a real one 10 times the price. Why risk your camera and lens?
