Such great tips! And I have to say that it's nice seeing someone who doesn't speak Swedish not mocking the names of the IKEA products.. You try to pronounce it and you leave it at that. Many people mock the names, that we use åäö but you don't, very respectful thank you for that! :)
Turbonilla: I don't think anyone wants to be mean about it but it's like people trying to speak Chinese and just saying ping-pong-dong or some other stupid stuff.. I seen so many videos of people making puns at ikea with the names. Wouldn't it be more fun and cool to maybe Google the words? See what the meaning of them is instead of just making puns.. We are proud of our language and moste of the IKEA names are beautiful words or they have meaning to them 😊😊 many of people in the US have family from here and they especially should be more graceful towards our language :) :)
I really like how you speak. You are so clear and concise and the content rolls along fast. Thank you! That was a lot of content in a short video. Plus, Ikea with a toddler is painful, so if I know what I’m looking for based on your ideas that’s helpful!!
I’m new to your channel, but am loving everything you create. I appreciate that you are giving us real information with your designer insight. It’s clear you have a good eye for design, but can communicate your ideas in a way a consumer can understand. In short, I feel like you are giving us design consultation for free. Thank you!
Don't throw out your hangers! Many places, including your dry cleaner, will take them! Some examples: Goodwill/Salvation Army, Shelters, etc. Also, just found your channel. I'm OBSESSED. Thank you for such great info!
Our minor league baseball team has a booster club and each year the new players need hangars. Many of them are arriving with hardly any personal possessions.
@@jellybean1528 I had so much that I took some to the hotel I stayed (and forgot them there on purpose) because they only had 3 hangers in the wardrobe.
I am a new subscriber who has worked at IKEA for 29 years. I can’t stop watching your videos. It’s interesting to see your opinion on our range. I love how passionate you are about design while still encouraging others to do what they like.
Does seem kind of dd to feel affirmed if someone mentions something you have from IKEA in their videos. My husband and I were at the opening of the first IKEA in Philadelphia in the mid-1980s. Hell I guess we were trendy and we didn't even know it. Ha ha
Nick, I'm a new subscriber and LOVE your channel! I feel like I'm in a really beautiful yet highly practical interior design school. I'm so thankful that you are sharing your knowledge and that I found you. 👍🏻💗
PS: I LOVE and appreciate so much that you have broken down the video so I can scroll between sections (not sure what that's called but I hope that makes sense)
Alseda was my cat's favorite scratching post, or pouf, or whatever, that I ever bought her. It lasted a surprisingly long time under her regular attacks. I was cleaning up bits of it every day for about 3 years!
I have the velvet cushion covers and love them! I love them more than my itchy Pottery Barn cushion covers. They’re so soft, great quality and so affordable.
Me too they are made of cotton which I prefer over polyester. It will be amazing if they will have them in a bigger selection of colors like different shades of grey and braun 😍
I loved the plant ladder so much I took a picture and ran down to the local Hardware store, got similar wood and called friends with tools and got the same look of the Ikea ladder only its 7 feet tall. I love shopping there even if I don't end up getting anything! The ideas are fabulous, affordable and you get a great walking workout, I wish they would start selling their *small homes* there too!
I own the matte black cutlery from IKEA and I LOVE them! I was worried about the colour chipping or leaking in the dishwasher, but they held up for the 8 months I’ve owned them, Highly recommend!
Wow! Great video to highlight some of the more designer-type items at IKEA! I really appreciated this video because IKEA is sooo big with soooo many items, it’s oftentimes overwhelming. I also appreciated the price comparisons for those of us who are on a limited budget. Thank you 😘
Glad it was helpful! Yeah it is totally overwhelming which is why people so often stick to the big hits like malm and besta. Which are great, but sometimes you want different!
Great job Nick Lewis!! I agree with your opinions and style ideas and really appreciate your honest but sensitive way of conveying your thoughts!! kudos to you.
Another vegan option for the Rens is the ALMTJÄRN. I'm using this in white as my tree skirt right now. For some reason they don't mark it as one of their "green" products, however, rug pile is made of 90% recycled water bottles. It is amazingly soft! After Christmas, the bath matts will become rugs next to the bed. Having that wonderfully soft texture when getting out of bed is just lovely. The ALMTJÄRN has a lux look and feel for a bath matt. ;-) It's around $17.
Omg I love the chair comparison you made wiith DWR! I didn’t even realize ikea had such similar chair! I sometimes source from Ikea (depending on the clients budget) so I Loved this video!
Greetings from Finland! You make such good videos, happy I found your channel ☺️ so nice that you featured many items that I have at home from ikea 😂 they really do look high end! I have a big white sheep skin on my buskbo armchair, works so well 👍
I am so into IKEA and i cant wait to go there when its allowed again :) Click & collect has definitely not the same good vibes like going through the isles upstairs and downstairs, taking a Snack inbetween, getting inspired on details, buying completely different things than expected and suddenly u spend the whole day at IKEA ^^ and then there is putting together the puzzle. My favourite part of these days^^
Here for this video! Resigning my entire bedroom and home ☺️ I find it’s really amazing to compare prices and work in some thrifted things with more mainstream stuff like ikea and target to make it look more chic!
This is awesome! As a busy mom of 5 that literally has no time to shop and with our ikea over an hour away I love this content. You got a new sub here!
Great video. I would also add the Vilborg curtains. We have used the beige ones in multiple rooms in multiple homes and I can't quit them. They always look far more expensive than they are, and now they've expanded their color range.
This is so great!! You’re so right these funds don’t scream “ikea” at all. (And you are everyone when you’re like “I have no idea how to say that” ain’t it the truth!)
I love the rattan chair and plant stands!! 😍 (I had seen the chair, but I had not seen those plant stands). They're lovely. I'll definitely look out for those next time I'm at IKEA. The magazine rack could be used to hold firewood. I think it would look nice. Also, thanks for putting the measurements in metric. Muchly appreciated! 😊👍
I'm new to your channel but I have learned so much already. I've heard of IKEA but I had no idea that they had so many products! Like you, I love things that do double duty and the IKEA things are serious solutions. Thank you for the information!
just found your channel! thanks so much for making interior design more accessible/less pretentious :) always happy to see affordable options for furnishing my college house!
The rattan pendant is gorgeous, and I know they are super fashionable right now, but to me they just scream "dusting nightmare" so I will admire them anywhere not in my own home. Great video, Nick
Hi Nick, discovered your channel recently and I love your content! As part of a recent basement/family room renovation, we furnished the space in a light/warm Scandi style. The Snidad and Lauters found their way home with us from a recent Ikea trip and they’re great pieces to add to the Scandi vibe in the space. Your other product recommendations are also great! I also think the Ikea PS metal cabinet can add a great style element at a really nice price point and is a durable piece with simple lines that can fit many styles.
Also, a note on the Alseda: these things make the BEST cat furniture you could find for this price point. My dad and stepmom got two of these for their house full of cats (they do foster and rescue) and they have held up as cat beds/ the primary scratching posts for well over a year now with no sign of damage at all, as far as I can tell. The cats all love these things, and between this slightly unbelievable fiber rope they're covered in that seems impervious to cat attacks and the sturdy wireframe, I don't think I've ever in my life been more impressed with a $30 Ikea thing. And unlike other cat furniture, these look good and can be used by people, too. I swear I don't work for Ikea or anything, I'm just honestly so blown away that they've held up so freaking well against so much wear and tear even though they were so cheap. When my stepmom got them we were joking like "well, even if they only hold up a few months maybe we can find a use for the frame or make new covers for them." So worth the money, especially if you have cats.
I’m using the bumerang hangers in different colours for me and my teens - it means it’s easier to return laundry to the right room bc it’s colour coded in white, black, neutral wood.
New subscriber. I love my wood hangers from IKEA! Also a great buy and useful are the protectors that help Keep the dust at bay. I use them over my coats and special items.
I would love some tips on how to find that at IKEA that fits grand millennial/timeless/classic but also with a little flare of craftsman/traditional/farmhouse. I want a very warm and soft/cozy space that looks upscale
Superb taste . 👌🏼 When lockdown ends , I’m off to the shops . In the meantime, I’ll travel through the internet . These ideas are totally wonderful. ❤️
10:02 - Bumerang Wood Clothes Hangers 11:06 - Rens Sheepskin Throw 12:28 - Satsumas Mid-Century Planters are those that I considered purchasing too! It's a pity that these items don't fit my current place, but Maybe I will do it later in my new home. 02:55 - Buskbo Rattan Chair, Plant Stands and Magazine Rack looks interesting too!
I am obsesseddd with your channel omg! Your tips are great and I love all your suggestions for rattan furniture or accent pieces, I just wonder: is there a thing like too much rattan?
Thanks for the recommendation of Alseda. Just got one for myself. It really fits in my living room space and style!!! Saw this in IKEA store before but didn’t paid enough attention and it went off my radar. Now that I moved, and it really fits my living room style!
This is so great, thank you! I'd love to know more about texturising a space; a how to would be really helpful. Loving your channel, thank you for sharing your knowledge with us :) Currenlty redecorating so this is all so great!
You’ve got me.. the mention of bringing life into your space.. I said those words today and spent the majority of the rest of today Googling plant stands.. and your spot on they are triple the price at least and not even that nice unless you want to spend £200 .. Really love the perspective and options of just having a normal house with zero plan or thought gone into it , that just wants to bring a bit of outdooors in.. x
You're so kind! You can just say they are dupes of something more expensive to not feel like you're a traitor!!! Lol I get it. Totally. Love your content. TFS.
I love these! If you could put the name of the product on the corner of the picture like you did with the IKEA photo credit it would be helpful when screenshooting products for purchase. (Sorry for the run on sentence lol)
