It's been a blessing for me, literally life changing as far as my social media content goes. It use to take me 8 hours to upload a RU-vid video, now it's around 7-10 minutes. Love it! Glad my video encouraged you to try it out.

That was a great video. I live in the country and have terrible internet service. I had satellite internet for a while, but it was totally useless for anything but browsing the internet. Currently, I'm using a cellular service something like the one you tested. It works much better than the satellite internet did. I'm hoping to get normal internet service someday, but until then, this will have to do. Looking forward to the follow-up video! Thanks, Brock!

Heya Brock, I hear your struggle with the rural internet, same issues out here but you are getting even better a signal than we are! I can't believe how much content you upload for having that speed bottleneck.. your kids must not be pleased if they are gamers! Sign into the router and you should see what signal strength you are getting... use that number to position your antenna, you will have a lot better results than using the speed test. Have a look at a cell booster to work with your new setup and you will really see a nice bonus. I use wilson amplifiers, good USA company, was able to get from a -98DB signal to high 40's! Good Luck!

When we got our property, the only option was hotspot or pay 400$ to trench a hardline that was 10mbps max. We have had starlink for over a year now and absolutely love it. Just have to remember that it's new technology and satellite based, so sometimes it does have issues, but with launches almost every week, it's getting better all the time.

Good info for rural internet showing multiple options. Critically important for rural economic development yet info is sparse, e.g. providers not well known and 5g coverage is spotty in rural areas compared to more densely populated areas (tower placement).

Wow Brock that is GREAT! I'm on Spectrum internet, and while my download speeds are tickling 100 Mbps my upload is consistently around 11 Mbps. Really torques me off that they throttle my upload speeds like that given what I pay for service. If you are getting 15 Mbps uploads consistently throughout the day I may have to look into wireless internet. I'm in rural Northwest Ohio and only one wireless service has 5G available and even then, it is spotty where I am at. And of course it is a different service (AT&T) than what I have had for 20 years (Verizon)... lol. Really interested to hear how well streaming and stuff goes with multiple users. Good job Brock - thanks for sharing! 🤠

Your old service is 3 times faster than what I've had for the past ten years. I had Wild Blue for a few years, but it would shut down any time it clouded up or stormed and wasn't very fast. A neighbor had a Hughs net and it was just as bad. Now I have broadband from a local co op with this kind of service: 1.41Mbps download, .48 Mbps upload. I believe I had better service 20 years ago with dial up!

I've had a few hotspots over the years and they always end up stop working after a few hours so I need to restart them or reconnect to them every now and then. but last time I got one was probably 5 years ago how is it these days? are they still that bad? I don't understand how hard it can be to make s router that works all the time not stop working as soon as you walk to the store and back having to; forget network and reconnect to the router again

Good info, Brock. I have Starlink, but am always hoping to find a less expensive option. Do you know if the unlimited data plans include throttling of speeds after you reach a threshold amount of data? Starlink just introduced this throttling after you reach 1Tb of downloaded data in a month. A Terabyte of data sounds like a lot, but you would be surprised how quickly you can run through that with just 2 or 3 folks streaming video regularly...
@foonus406
@foonus406 Год назад
Right, most of the providers claim "Unlimited" but that's only for a certain amount of data, after that your speed gets cut to a fraction of the original but technically you still have unlimited access... you can pay an high per /GB fee to get that speed back, they have no shame. Others will have in the TOS agreement that they reserve the right to throttle heavy use traffic during "peak usage hours" so take that into consideration as well.

Hi Brock! It seems like only yesterday that we were in Kentucky. Am I understanding you correctly and that you need the antenna, and the router, and it’s cellular service with a Sim card just for the antenna and router? Great video by the way.
@RockhillfarmYT
@RockhillfarmYT Год назад
Yes sir, nice to hear from you. You are basically right. You do not need the antenna necessarily but it’s going to improve your speed. You definitely need a router that excepts a Sim card which you can actually get from the cellular providers or you can buy it third-party from a company like I’m using. What they tell me is that their routers are a lot higher quality as far as putting signal out to cover your whole house. For me without the external antenna the service I was getting was not good enough I’m still gonna do some more testing. Thanks for watching

If I already have Verizon mobile unlimited plan. Do I have to pay Verizon or a third party an additional fee for this device to work or am I able to simply buy the hardware and jump off my current mobile plan. Further info..I currently have "unlimited cell data but I believe I only have 25G of hot spot data. Also to use my phone as a hot spot I lose a lot of the functionality of my phone i.e. when it is providing internet to TV I cant use some of my streaming apps which is the while point. I've been just using the Samsung dex function via usbc to hdmi cable but a true internet work be such a blessing. Hopefully you can provide me with some helpful info

@RockhillfarmYT
@RockhillfarmYT Год назад
You are going straight to the carrier and buying the service. You will pay whatever the service provider charges. With AT&T for a truly unlimited plan I think it’s $70 T-Mobile might be $40 You are still buying the service from them The point of the video is that I wasn’t aware that that service existed in a truly unlimited format With a Wi-Fi grade router. I use AT&T, so I went into the store and asked them about the options. They sell you a little box or put it on your plan as a lease or whatever. it’s not going to provide any better service than just using your phone as a hotspot. In my case what I needed was a roof antenna leading to a router that will actually broadcast that signal across the whole house
@JeffG-nk6gv
@JeffG-nk6gv Год назад
@@RockhillfarmYT that makes total sense. I think the part that I was missing is that what AT&T or others might give you may not give a great LTE signal at your location and also may not provide decent wifi signal around your home. I am digging in to this because we are moving to a rural location in about 60 days and I need to figure out what will actually work. I think I am going to have to buy into more than one and see what works. Thanks for the information!

I pretty much live in the woods, abd currently use an At&t hotspot. At&t is the only provider that works here. But i noticed for you with the hospot, you were still getting 30+ mbps download. I get 3 Mbps! 3. 5 mbps on a good day. Which makes me feel if i went through the hassle of ordering all this, installing an external antenna and running wire into the house, just to still get 5 or 6 mbps, just dont know
