I left the British Army 50 years ago in 1969.and every time I see the lads there I feel that I should be there with them. Almost as if I'm letting them down because I'm not there. In my heart I will always be there. God bless them all.
Your never letting anyone down your still making us proud in what you did. We have to pass down the generations at point and the military will forever be family wether your still serving or not. We’re here to carry in making you all proud. Thank you for your service I appreciate it and I will be taking on your part very soon in the army
I get that 100%. ALL Ex Armed forces are extremely special people that should never be forgotten! We all sign an Oath of allegiance for life!! Much Love my friend.
Having spent some considerable time with the Chinook Force I can honestly say that was some phenomenal airmanship. The medical team obviously did everything they could and still do for the people that need them so desperately, total respect to every single man and women who so valiantly serve our country. Thanks for sharing this excellent video, sad as it is. RIP, Lest We Forget. I know I never will.
I served 23 years in the Infantry, getting out in Dec 2013 and am proud of all the British forces especially those who come running to save life. Without their expertises many would have not made it. And as for the people of Wooton Bassett, god bless you for the respect shown to the fallen.
First off... the entire crew of the Chinook are completely "Badass!" I cried from the moment they took off to the moment they touched down and off loaded their wounded compatriot! Then again I cried at the amazing show of love and respect by the citizenry lining the streets to show respect "too the fallen". Awesome video... amazing. My go and wipe my eyes now, I'm a wreck!
I served with the MERT Team in the summer of 2008 and helped with the casualties in the back of the chinook just a horrific experience. I have total respect for the medics and doctors in combat. I'll never forget are loss. Are service men and women fought brave as hell over there RIP to the fallen
@@gringotom242 everyone does there job mate you me etc etc we don't take credit just get the job done no one can fault the troops just the ones who send us keep safe bro
Thank you for flying these Missons, as a ex infantry soldier its amazing to see how much you do behind the seen. This was my war. Lost friends and a family member in Afghanistan. It doesn't matter if it was a right war or not. Some of the best of my generation paid the ultimate sacrifice, or now live with mental wounds or physical wounds. The going down of the sun we will remember them. We will remember them.
Panderichthys rhombolepis it’s almost on the level of disrespect like dafuq some mad emoji shit 😂 stay blessed bab if you haven’t subscribe to my channel for better content that this emoji spitting idiot 😂
These pilots are angels. Can you imagine the feeling of being in deep trouble alone in the desert and seeing that someone has sent a helicopter to save you.
@@sonnyxn619 We just abandoned the country to the taliban, wasting trillions of dollars and thousands of soldiers' lives. All for the Military Industrial Complex. Now China is just swooping in to take the minerals anyway.
Had the pleasure to spend a proportion of my training working under the crewman in this video....an absolute fucking dude! Great bloke and a top instructor
Tell you what them helicopter pilots are angels..They do a brilliant job and they have saved a lot of soldiers lives...So Well done lads .good luck and keep safe..R.I.P chris gray
I am humbled by people like those partaking in the video. I´ve had the pleasure of seeing them lift of with one of my wounded brothers - He made it, barely! Surdenly thanks to the speed an agillety of the aircrew. Thank you all.
I was 20/21 when I was over there in 2010/11. The private also has the same name of my step father. What a video to watch. I haven't even finished watching it all at the time of writing this. I see the top comment though. :( I've always told everyone that the medevac pilots/crew are at the VERY TOP of the totem.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.
May God bless my brothers and sisters across the pond. Someday we hopefully will stop getting ourselves into these difficult situations. The fact we can count on you to stand shoulder to shoulder with us....means everything. Come to Tennessee and drinks on me. Godspeed
If you want to see the British Forces at there best watch this video Im proud to have served although I did not see combat I was just a TA solider in the 80s and 90s
It's been 12 years since my first Afghan tour and I thought I was over things. That Wootton Basset segment brought a lot of memories back though and tears to my eyes. Massive respect to the RAF pilots and people of Wootton Bassett
I sincerely thank every fallen and serving British soldier you have done us proud and soon I will be following in your footsteps and I hope to do you proud
All these chaps are heroes, but I'll still remember how utterly devastated his mum was years later when she was interviewed and the impact of his family. Rip Chris - you did all that was asked of you
This pulled my heartstrings hard, couldn’t help shedding some tears seeing our lads coming home like that. So glad we’re finally pulling out of that hellhole but I don’t want their fight to have been for nothing.. seeing how the taliban are on the counter offensive already makes me sick. Salute to all the heroes who’ve served in any war, we wouldn’t be here living as we do without you.
Tomorrow is Remembrance Sunday. It shouldn't be a thing for our soldiers to give up their life so we can have better one. Our soldiers are second to none on the battlefields, the dedication and skill of the two pilots in this video is immense, some how they flew a chinook like it was a fighter jet. Lest we forget.
I am nearly 60yrs old. Watching these brave young men and women brings me near to tears. The troops that show such professionalism and such a dedication to each other deserve nothing but the greatest of RESPECT. THEY ARE TRUE HEROES. Bless them all.🏴😶
Soldiers deserve respect. The reasons for being wherever they are can be questioned, but they go when ordered and put it all on the line. RIP brave lad.
WOW watching this in 2020.. 13 years after his death. i used to serve. respect for those who died. respect for those what they went through... i salute you brothers.. rest in peace..
Respect to all who have served and still serving , There Bravery is second to none...... The British Armed Forces is small in numbers, but Bravery , Determination, Courage, initiative ,loyalty cannot be counted no matter how many zero’s you add on.
Every single person who has, currently does, or will be serving with any armed force couldn't make me prouder. But these guys make me prouder to be British than anything else 🇬🇧🇬🇧
Thankyou to all personnel absent and present for the sacrifice you make so my children, wife and I can live the life we do in peace and security. We are truly grateful and will never forget. ❤️🇬🇧💪
If anyone is interested in seeing the ground side of this. Watch Ross Kemp in Afghanistan its on one of the episodes in the first series. Available on dailymotion.
Totally respect the people from Wootton Bassett, 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧 salute you all and a big thanks 🤝 RIP TO ALL OUR BRAVE MEN AND WOMEN WHO HAVE MADE THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE, HERO'S LEST WE FORGET
My heart is with every soldiers family that had died they served our country’s well and took their lives for us children and adults to have a happy lairs lest we forget I will never forget them ❤️
Is this video the one for the poor lad Chris Gray? I think it is so it didn't have a happy ending, R.I.P Chris, the MERT crews and the American Pedro crews were phenomenally brave to fly into these extremely dangerous situations but.... the lads on the ground are in the poop almost every day.🇬🇧🇺🇸✌✌
no, they are not allowed in front line roles such as infantry, royal marine or RAF Regiment, but they serve on the frontline in roles such as medics, IED/bomb diffusers, helicopter medic crew, pilots etc...
RIP Chris gray. The circumstances of this soldiers death were in a BBC series called out War. This was filmed coincidentally at the same time by a different film crew.
Well what can we say rip chris as a ex squadie well done the crabs and fucking well done to the boys snd girls of hm forces you are worth your weight in gold as for the good british public thank you dont ever let anyone tell you differant you make us feel proud to be british thank you
And the saddest thing of all is we left the battlefield and not having achieved anything in 20 years of bitter fighting. BTW, I think the British and Canadians are better in supporting communication with locals then then gung-ho US-troops... This is the end of a tragedy, the next there is going to start all over again - RIP comrades in arms, you will never be forgotten - peace is only for the dead and the kind of heart - We didn't find either there...
Chinook flying back alone is not really unprotected. It still has 2 side MGs and a rear mounted MG. It’s not meant to be a gunship but it can defend itself if need be.
Sad thing is I've grown up watching all the herse's coming through bassist wounding why they were doing it it was only till I joined the ATC I understood why.
Here we are in 2021, the reality of the conflict in Afghanistan coming to an end, a result and ending that we predicted when our soldiers first went there. So many young men and women have given their lives over the past two decades, such a waist. But, if we able to give them a second chance in life, they’d do it all again, because they were with the best mates and camaraderie that one could ever wish for in life. A friendship that still kindles after death, RIP
Title needs renaming as the RAF was flying the cow. Pilot officer was in the co seat so fresh out of training? Good bit of footage I had a tear in my eye. I was once based down at RAF Lyneham before I moved to Leaming and I was in Thetre with the nimrod crew that set alight and crashed after a2a refuelling. All crew lost inc SAS and SBS personnel. I was talking to one of the special forces guys the night before. Wars and conflicts are a terrible place to experience you feel too detached when a civi.
