The footage follows a squad of British soldiers on foot patrol through irrigated farmland who quickly, soon after leaving their combat outpost, run into a firefight with Taliban insurgents.
Never noticed him carrying all 3 but fuck me a sniper rifle and a minimi has to be like some kind of god feat thats wild he was light on other gear but still surprised they made a pack mule out of a sniper, I think tbh when he was deemed ineffective and they realised they had to bug out they threw the empty? jav onto him. Still impressive as fuck
@@simonlee498 that's not how Western Militaries work. Soldiers don't just carry as much weaponry as they can. There is standard gear.... that is then altered depending on operations/need.
Im a 26 year old American. Im Against the Iraq war, and i think its time to leave Afghanistan. But i just want to say to any Brits who might be reading this...You will never know how much we appreciate you sticking by our side through all this. I have the upmost respect for all of you. Your soldiers are brave and respectable. And for all the brits who have died, i am eternally grateful
@@arthurtwoshedsjackson4336 And you would get invaded. It's a 2 scenario. If we fell. You fall. If you fell. We fall. Simple as. Stop thinking you did EVERYTHING because you didn't. The soviets are the reason we didn't lose.
I joined the US Army September 27th 2001, shortly after 9-11, I deployed with the 3rd ID in 2003, I fought along side the Brits…. Fast forward August of this last year, I took my family to Disney on Florida, I stood in line with a British veteran and we shot the shit while waiting for some rides, I still see wounds he wore as a badge of honor on his body(he was blown up twice by IED’s) as for me, I was blessed to never get shot or blown up, but my wounds are internal…. I can’t sleep, I have terrible PTSD, but in the moments getting to chat with my new friend, I did find peace knowing my brother across the pond got to come home to his family after going thru so much…. My views on the war have changed over the years, maybe we shouldn’t of stayed for so long, but, I was a 20 year old PFC just doing a job…. No matter what my views of the war are or were, these men will always be my brothers in arms… we didn’t care why we were there, we didn’t cry about being away from our families in the moment, we only found peace thru brotherhood, a brotherhood forged in blood and honor!! Once two great countries fought against one another, and now are the greatest Allie’s the modern world has seen!! I hope you find peace Bryan, I hope the guns and bombs are quite in your head now! I recently found out that he gave into his demons and took his own life shortly after his trip to Disney! It breaks my heart to even ponder the thought of the torture your mind experienced in your home life! You did a job you were called to do, and sometimes you did that job for an ungrateful people! Just know that, tonight, as I sit on my couch with my little dog curled at my feet, I drink to you my brother! May you find that peace in your internal rest! I pray for the small child that was with you that day, that he grows up not thinking about how you passed away, but thinking about how you lived! Til Valhalla my friend!!
Fantastic tactical awareness and leadership skills from LCpl Daniel Monks. If he is still serving, I hope that he's looking at being a CSM now, or very soon, superb soldiering. Respect.
Can we all agree that both armies are great and let's hope that in times of war our friends from the UK with always fight side by side with American troops
Britain just has the best over all Military in the world. Not the biggest, but the best. The Royal Air Force, Royal Navy, SAS, British Army, undoubtedly the toughest in the world! Bravo heroes.
Idk why everyone has a stupid comment about who's better? US and UK, we're supposed to be the closest of allies in the world. Support each other instead of talking shit.
+thevillelova93 Its called banter, the closest of friends are always the ones giving each other the most crap because Brits and Americans know we will always have each other's back whenever SHTF. If you think the ribbing between Brits and Americans is bad you should see what the Aussies and Kiwis say to each other all the time.
I know it’s some older footage but it’s history and I always watch these types of videos. They are professional and a well trained troops.Glad they’re on our side. Our brothers🇺🇸
I worked with you Yankie boys. ANGLCO company marine corps. They were top boys. We complimented each other well. We took everything like a walk in the park and your boys used combined arms to a level we could only applaud as professionals.
i served in the RLC in this stage of the conflict in OpTellic and some of the finest peolp i can say i have ever met and i had the honour of serving my country along side these men ..... and unfortunately lost one that was as good as a brother to me RIP brother and to those still serving in the british forces i salute you as i know how hard it is and the dedication you all put in like i once did!!!!
Can't comment on the tactics but in terms of demeanor these guys seem like absolute pros. Everyone appears even-keeled, composed and the leadership very methodical.
anzov1n special forces level of composure surely? It was like they were in a football match. “Yeah they’re pretty good. Tactics alright, we’re better though.” It’s crazy to think they were staring death in the face
Gar I was directly quoting what one of the soldiers were saying and expressing my admiration for how calm they were under stress. Learn to read and watch the video before you comment
Smh. I like the British and I am American. I would love to fight beside them one day. I don't why everyone is saying they are better than each other. We all humans in the end,
i will never ever forget the footage i saw years back, of a british firefight with the taliban, where a captain or was it a commander was directing the british fire without any cover, he was standing on top of a house and directing his units fire, with no regard for his own safety, if anyone has that footage please tell me where i can find it, it was the most amazing moment i have ever seen from the british involvement in afghanistan, respect to the british military!
Very motivating video, as an American marine I salute the British troops ooohhhrrraah!!!!! Because I am a woman I cannot be in infantry :( but still proud :)
Love how the seco or 2ic is saying move off quickly and the boys are strolling off like they are heading to the next pub on a Sunday Arvo. Rounds cracking everywhere. Outstanding.
The best trained soldiers in the world British army my nephew was in for 15 years with the first Scots regiment two tours in Iraq and 3 tours of Afghanistan
We manufacture the chips and sensors for that Javelin right here in Dallas at Texas Instruments facilities. Glad to see our UK brothers in arms using it. God bless yall.
I like the guy who gave them some credit, they may well be farmers, but farmers that have gone through some tough training, especially those who trained them from being in Afghanistan in the 70's. But they will never out do our troops
What an excellent bunch of men. They are true soldiers - they have respect for their enemy and accordingly have a more accurate assessment of their foes strengths and weaknesses. Tactical combat not distorted through emotional thinking - admirable stuff!
Difficult not to notice how British soldiers rarely swear, generally sound intelligent, and seem like they have respect for the enemy as human beings, whereas with marines it's a never ending barrage of asinine commentary and obscenities.
Hahahahahhaha! Tend not to swear! Hahahaha! Look up the Royal Regiment of Scotland and find some combat vids of them, then try and say they tend not to swear..
Disciplinary is a key skill in the armed forces my friend, no matter what force, you should respect your surroundings and your commanding officers, and any NCO's/ SNCO's above you
