Having a near death experience is life changing enough but to have footage of it and to watch it back and experience it like you are looking down at yourself . That’s brave
A World War Two veteran contacting a younger veteran has to be one of the biggest compliments. Those men fought the most ridiculous, unfathomably chaotic and destructive war that ever happened, and they've seen the worst of it. Im so glad he reached out.
This guy is an absolute beast. He's not just strong physically but mentally as well. What a legend. thank you for your service man. I'm glad you made it home and you've found ways to enjoy this life that is often too short.
Former president George W. Bush gave up golf during the Iraq conflict. George W. Bush lied to the soldiers he commanded. American soldiers killed thousands of women and children. Thousands more soldiers have çommitted suicide than were killed in battles in Iraq or Afghanistan. Today's commander in chief is senile and spent a month celebrating sexual perversity. Viet Nam - Gulf of Tonkin incident LIE. 9-11-01 No official investigation has proved if thousands of innocent people were murdered by controlled demolition, or not murdered by controlled demolition. Afghanistan invaded before learning truth of 9-11-01. Iraq, flat out lie. LIE, LIE, LIE ... it catches up ... Now people don't know if they are a man or a woman ...
You know what’s funny? This guy is a millennial. Boomers will see a hoax video of someone pretending to eat a Tide Pod and they’ll use that to denigrate an entire generation of people, but they see a video of a guy like this and they ignore it.
Face the Future with Fortitude. Words to live by. I met a Marine years back with no legs and one arm. He told me, " Look to your left, look towards your right. There is always someone worse off than you. Don't give up.
I go to a military prep college and the director of 19 campuses out of the 35, was actually on patrol that day with Alec, and they are very good friends and I am honestly honoured to have them both as role models and Alec’s perseverance through the hard times he suffered is honestly so inspirational
@@seekerpro486I know for a fact the soldiers of Sweden will. I've seen it twice. I think most countries would, obvious exceptions exist with a certain country starting on the letter R.
I chuckled at the bit where Alec thought they had flown his family out. An inspiration to us all, a shame he didn’t meet the WW2 vet, no doubt a few beers would’ve been sunk.
Same happened me but the other way around, I got stabbed three times in the chest in Melbourne Australia 2009 in a random attack the three stab wounds all life threathening but one hit my lung and punctured it and so I was in a coma for 2 half weeks , can’t remember the stabbing to this day, okay so I’m from Ireland , so I woke up (they don’t know how I survived, died 3 times , full blood transfusion , half my lung removed) and I didn’t know what was going, was so confused , but my family Wer at my bedside , I kept asking what happened and how I got home to Ireland. In reality I was 2 miles away In the Alfred hospital I would not accept this was adamant I was home in Ireland cuz my family wer there . Was a surreal and confusing situation but my family had flown out while I was in a coma to be by my bedside and waking up from 3 and a half weeks what felt like an hour sleep I was adamant I was in my hometown so I can relate to what this bloke is saying, glad you made it through , and face the future with fortitude .. awesome love it now 2023 and I got back to full health and have 2 kids just wasn’t my time to go 💪🏾😀
Sad you lost your legs doing your job but thanks for your service and so glad you got through this from an ex RAF dude and fellow amateur photographer.
Former US Marine. Love you Brother! You inspire me and give me hope my current situation will will change for the better. Thank you for sharing your story. Nothing but Love and Respect!
@@luminisant weird troll attempt. Assuming you're young, you do whatever you need to do to cope with the chaos of life. If that's crying, so be it, no shame in it.
Just at a glimpse, you can tell this man never gave up or pitied himself for going through a life changing injury. It takes bravery to run into battle, but it takes incredible strength to keep pushing after something like that. Thank you for your service.
Why are you thanking him are you a yank I swear brits are turning into yanks everyday We choose to serve, thanking us is an insult IMO or.it basically sounds like Cheers mate for doing something i could never do 🤷♂️
Glad your still here if your ever reading this brother…. Funny how our armies were bitter enemies 200 years ago but here we were Allies working on the same mission. I was lucky. 2 tours and some close calls but unscathed physically but not mentally. We are together facing these struggles. Remember that. You are inspiring
To go through that is unspeakably horrible. Coming out of it like this young man has is inspirational and wonderful. The old WWll vets words were indeed prophetic.
Brother, all the way from Africa, you are a true hero and an inspiration. Not the "fake" heroes of a nowadays but indeed an inspiration. God bless you, keep you, and support you as you move forward. Thank you for your sacrifice in keeping the world free....
@nansmith8703 he was fighting in a war zone and survived a bomb you also don't even realise what it takes to be apart of the British army he is more of a man and a hero you will ever be you loser
What a man! A true inspiration...the way he talks about his fellow comrades is very touching I’m glad you made it home and found your purpose once again❤️ 🇬🇧
Shit. Not a Brit- but goddamn, that’s beautiful. Keep on keeping on, man. You’re amazing. And thank goodness for that old vet who inspired you. Pay it forward.
As a veteran, I salute this warrior. I can’t even imagine the pain and the despair he went through when he lost both legs. He is indeed the BEST OF THE BEST amongst us. 🙏🏻
As a photography enthusiast, I think you chose a hobby that will bring you a lifetime of happiness. We are constantly looking for beauty to capture. It’s only natural to feel good about being alive.
Thank god for your brothers in arms that day and thank you to the vet that took the time to write and change your life. It’s a lesson to us all you may think it’s insignificant or a little thing but if you make an effort to help someone it could mean the world to them and change the course of the future for them.
I met a veteran who survived a ied he is called andy reid he came to my school and gave a speech and shook our hands it was really inspiring to hear his story.
Im a retired VET from Somalia, Hairi and Iraq. As a JAG attorney you really do not deploy so my first 6 years I was an enlisted MP then I went OCS to finish 18 years as a JAG lawyer. I help investigate the crimes committed at the Abu Ghraib prison. On my way to the prison our Blackhawk crashed landed which caused my back to compress blowing out my S1, L5,4&3 vertebrates. Now 18 years later and 7 back surgeries i am no longer complaining my back hurts after watch the inspiration this soldier just gave me by watching this video. Hero's come in all shape and sizes and this troop is definitely a hero of mine
Well said. As an aside, I once asked a Marine about the term POG. He said it meant "Person other than Grunt" as in the guys in the rear with the gear. He then paused and said that in actuality, though these people may not see any action they are still depended on for other things that make the combat Marine's life a bit easier. Irrespective of whether you are a member of JAG or SEAL Team 6, you play a role in the military that is nonetheless important. Frankly, I think the US should REQUIRE EVERY citizen of this country to serve at least 2 years in the military. Israel does this and it seems to have paid dividends for the country. Sorry to hear about your accident, but your service is still very much appreciated. Thank you.
@@music4dages Uh.. Are you out of your mind? That's the SOURCE of all woke-ness in our news media. Do you know who OWNS it???? Edit: Ahead of the USA as a culture and society? Really? The one in a constant rocket-flinging contest with the equally crappy if not worse Palestine? Get over yourself and your Israel worship. Might I also add that plenty of places that are absolute crapholes have mandatory military service, Russia for example. That doesn't seem to have worked too well for them, as a culture and a society. Or as a military.
Odd blessing for nature photography. He can walk in knee deep snow and cross streams without ever worrying about his toes being cold. His resilience and outlook are beautiful.
You look amazing and full of life. Thank you for your service but mostly thank you for the inspiration and the continuation of the person you are and the future
Wow, what a hero. He went to another country that had absolutely nothing to do with him and ended up not getting killed. What a hero, I’m so proud of him and more importantly, i am finally safe from those evil people :)
You heartless idiot, HE didn’t do anything wrong, he lost his legs protecting people and killing members of a terrorist organisation that has murdered so many innocents.
What a beautiful Person inside and out ,from this horrible Accident he did turn it out to a Life with a purpose,I am grateful for your strength that touch us all, thanks you Sir
The rules of engagement ruined a lot of lives and took a lot of lives. These wars were never meant to be won. Unreal happy he’s alive and happy I lived through the war too dying for nothing would have been a sin
not sure where he was, but it looks like where we were in Kandahar province. we were there (82nd airborne-4th BCT-infantry) in 2012. we left in September. it was like the Wild West out there that year. he seems to be a good man. the world is better with him in it.
Thank you and your brothers for the service. You paid the price .I come from a family of Army, Navy, Air Force , Marines God bless you and your family's and if I had the money you wound wont for nothing God bless you and yours
