Great video, great information, Dr. Gupta, but as an AFIB patient, it doesn't address an important issue for the patient. If its important, why didn't my Cardiologist say anything about this? Three years later, he still has never mention anything about what you're talking about. Didn't sound any alarm! Is Eliques a NOAC? I was given 9 weeks of samples of Eliquis and a prescription initially but when I went to get it refilled, I discovered it was $400 - $450 a month and I could not afford it. I was then prescribed Warfarin ($4) a month. I had a lot of trouble regulating the dosage and spend many weeks experimenting, accompanied by a blood test every week. After months of trials, Warfarin was regulated and the many side effects lessened. Then periodically I get the blood test and occasionally my blood is too thick or too thin and I have to adjust the dosage again. Its a nuisance but cheap and for that reason, I have to live with it. I have adjusted but it seems I haven't felt good since I started taking it and the dosage still has to be adjusted occasionally. I've been so tempted to just not do anything, not take the medication because I never felt the AFIB, never knew I had it. Something should be done about the cost of the medication since so many elderly people on Medicare have AFIB and Medicare does not fully cover it.
