Root has become my favorite board game. I love how many different combinations there are and how each faction is like it's own game, yet interactive with the others!
@@FeelFree2RateMyENG I mean, Kathleen managed to win despite the fact that they basically completely forgot 2 crucial rules and crippled her card economy + letting others keep more cards than they should have. 1. if a player move into an area with sympathy token with soldiers (doesn't count vagabond), that player has to pay a card to supporters pile. 2. if a player attack and remove a sympathy token, the player has to pay a card to supporters pile. If anything, it's a minor miracle that she managed to win despite the fact that people (especially Ben) had way more cards than they should've had, and that people didn't give Kathleen nearly as many cards as they should've given her. Plus, what were they expecting, when they left a woodland alliance with full bases alone for the whole game? I thought that Cam would win, since new players always mess up by not punching the tinker in the early game, since the tinker is an absolute monster late game, but he failed to make good use of his special ability and failed to each the critical 3 swords.
@@Reggie1408 Oh god I forgot I posted this. Yup. Only destroying buildings give points. This was when I was still learning the game, but I finally have a firm grasp on the rules.
Kathleen should have gotten officers from revolt + gotten cards from ben into her sympathy pile for having warriors move onto her sympathy + destroying sympathy token. Also, despot makes it so that each cardboard piece is worth 2 points for the eyrie player, rather than the standard 1 point. Removal of sympathy token should have given ben 2 points.
popsicle man Law of Root 7.8.4 Despot. Loyal Viziers begin on Move and Build. Whenever you remove at least one enemy building or token in battle, you score one victory point. To clarify, the Despot gets a VP whenever at least one enemy token or building is removed in battle. So removing 2 buildings in one battle results in 3 VP (2 for buildings and 1 for Despot).
58:30 Ben needs to give a supporter of that clearings suit or display his hand if he lacks the suit to Kathleen due to Outrage. In the later scenario, she draws from the shared deck. The same happens when he's putting down the sympathizers. The token was also not removed.
It seems like you wouldn't want to use the dominion cards as the cats, just keep expanding and building. Is that not a viable way to win? Just feels like the dominion pinholes you into a very specific task that others could block easily...
