AFL Records That Will NEVER Be Broken

There are 2 records that will never be beaten by a club that doesn’t play in the AFL anymore. Fitzroy is the only team in VFL/ AFL to win the flag from finishing last on the ladder in 1916. Because of WW1 only 4 teams played that season Carlton, Collingwood, Fitzroy & Richmond. Fitzroy also still holds the record of the biggest winning margin in VFL/ AFL history 190 points against Melbourne at VFL Park in 1979 🦁😊

John Cassin. In 1977, Cassin played 27 games for North Melbourne (22 Home and Away and 5 Finals). As things stand, Cassin's record can be equaled but cannot be broken.

How about the lowest score in a VFL/AFL game (1 point St. Kilda vs Geelong 1899), or lowest match aggregate score? I recon those records are pretty safe.

Fun fact about John Coleman when he was younger he didn’t want to play afl but his brothers local football team (Hastings) was short of players he played and the rest is history, and yes he did play for my home team in the club rooms we have the last football that he touched before he played for the bombers

I remember that 2007 Grand Final. As a cats fan who had lived through those games in the 90s when Geelong would have a big lead only to lose the game, I was thinking at half time when the Cats were 10 Goals up, I was not feeling safe enough for the win and I felt that they needed to keep on going in the 3rd Quarter just to win the game. At 3/4 time when the Cats got up to 90 point lead, I finally rested on my couch and said to myself "We have won this one," That was the biggest relief I felt in my life as a cats fan knowing that no matter what happened in the last quarter, no team could come from a 15 Goal deficit to win in the final quarter. Oh and as a cats fan from the 90s, that Highest Score in 1992 where Geelong kicked a score of 239 against Brisbane Bears 70 may never be broken unless if there was a forward line that was that strong against a lowly ranked team.

Most people thought that nobody would ever break Gordon Coventry's 1299 Career Goal Record. And nobody ever thought that Michael Tuck's record of 426 Career Games could be broken. So I would not say that these other records could never be broken. But they are certainly unlikely to be broken unless if there is a great team or a great family or a well long running career player who could play more than 20 years straight.

Michael Tuck has also played in 302 wins. The second closest is Shaun Burgoyne with 263 wins so I’d say that’s just about unbeatable. Joel Selwood will likely get second since he’s on 256 wins but won’t beat the record

One you missed... The most matches by a player, whose career lasted exactly ONE VFL season! (He played for North Melbourne)

Collingwood 4 in a row may never be broken. I mean thanks to the Bulldogs for eliminating Hawthorn in 2016 from the finals, our record was safe. Port stopped Brisbane in 2004 and We stopped Melbourne in 1958.

Haydn Bunton Sr. Won the Brownlow medal in his first season at Fitzroy in 1931 I don’t know how many players have won the Brownlow in their first season he went on to win the 1932 & 1935 Brownlow medals.

Brent Harvey played the most games he played 432 games games and Michael Tuck played 426 games.

Why have you waffled on for so long about the greatest ever Grand Final winning margin that Geelong had over Port Adelaide when there are other records which are unlikely to ever be broken which you have failed to mention? These records not mentioned include the highest ever score kicked in a single AFL match (37.17-239 by Geelong v Brisbane in Round 7, 1992), the most number of goals kicked in a game by an individual player (Fred Fanning of Melbourne kicked 18 goals against St. Kilda in 1947), and the highest number of goals kicked in a season by an individual player (150, shared by both Bob Pratt of South Melbourne and Peter Hudson of Hawthorn).
