It is regarded as one of the toughest and bloodiest wars in Africa, leading to the deaths of more than two million people (mainly children).

My dad tells me the Biafran story with so much pain written all over his face. He never fails to narrate in details to anyone who cares to listen, of how he wore his boot for almost a year without taking it off, and when one finally manages to take it off, some part of the flesh comes off with the boot, or how you will be walking with a fellow soldier, and within a split second he is gunned down right in front of you, amongst other heart wrenching events. He fought as a Biafran soldier at the age of 17. Still waxing strong till date . God bless all our fathers who fought for us to be here.

My father was a biafran soldier, he tells us the story of how his mother would always manage to bring them food in the middle of the war .he was always surprised how his mum finds him in the bush where him and other soldiers were fighting. He'll ask her what are you doing here, mum. He would always take her halfway and then return to the fighting .. she's late now. This was the first time hearing my father crying like a baby . He never played with his mum

This is by far the most detailed and well edited video documentary about the Nigeria Civil War that I have ever seen! Most videos are simple overviews of the causes and how it ended, but you went marvelously deep into specific battles, events and even the commanders of different units! And the animation and editing of real footage was beautiful. This was a real suprise and a treat to watch!

There is a bit of bias if you listen carefully to the type of language that was used to describe the actions of the Nigerians and I also find it convenient that the causes of the civil war was just breezed through which made it seem like Nigeria simply hate the igbos for no reason whatsoever

I was one of Biafra youngest boy age 11 years old who survived Birtish and Nigeria Genocide war. The first day I went to war front at Ngor okpala Biafra soldiers was very upset with me coming to war front. I was with SS Brigade one of the powerful and strongest flightier. Biafra soldiers came out from the trench and pleaded and asked me to go back home, I told them am sorry sir I am not going any where. Four of the Biafra soldiers started crying and said I will get killed. I was very happy with Biafra soldiers in the war front and in the trench. Every one of the Biafra soldiers was very happy. Every Biafra soldiers and none soldiers are my heroes. My prayer today and tomorrow what happened In 1967 to 1971 Nigeria and Biafra should not happen again in Jesus Name Amen. Nigeria politicians and Government have forgot Nigeria pass history. War is not the best way to solve problems. Peace is the key for all things

We should all look at ourselves and ask what has really changed, those that fought this war has feed fat from Nigeria, some are in regret of playing a part in the war, some hope it will never happen again, millions of Nigerians are running for their life at places once called home, they can't farm go by road, sea, air or by rail , the truth is that the war never ended.

As a Yoruba guy, I always thought the Ibos had a chip on their shoulders always threatening to secede, now I understand why thanks to this detailed documentary. The act of inviting the Egyptians and East Germans to bomb our brothers and sisters in the East is unforgivable. They never taught us the complete history at school. The Igbos refuse to accept the artificial creation called Nigeria; it has hindered progress and the people put in charge (Fulanis) by the British for obvious reasons, have steadily kept other groups capable of collective greatness subdued and backward.

Igbos soldiers murdered northern and yoruba leaders just to acquire power. Nigeria practiced regional system of government were all the regions have their own separate governor general, shortly igbos decided to seize power by eliminating all northern leaders and yoruba leaders excluded igbo leaders and later installed an igbo man who destroyed the regional system of government to unitary system and declared himself a supreme leader. Igbos were playing smart without realizing those two regions were smarter than them .

This is great history, now alot of understanding on the issues happening now and what went wrong connects. It also shows how the foreign powers, even till today, have a hand in things going on in Nigeria especially because of the resources and economy. What I find shocking is how casually we all dismiss the casualty figures. Over 20,000 men of the 3rd infantry regiment died the battle of umuahia. When Maj. Utuk and Capt Buhari fought their way out of Owerri, they escaped with about 200 out of the 2000 they entered with. War is hell, a meat grinder.

me too from my two uncles who fought with Biafran army ,still alive with bullet wounds ,one wiith a hairless line on his head from bullet ,the other a dead finger with exit bullet wound ,....their battlefront stories never end sometimes scarz somtimes annoying but this docu joined the missing details

I never got to meet any of 5 of my mother's brothers who died fighting in this war. She also lost other half brothers. And till today, the reasons for the war are yet to be addressed. We need to do better at unity. God bless 🇳🇬.

Why did the narrator not say anything about the Ogbunigwe (the Ojukwu bucket), the Biafran land mines and more. Nothing was said the technological advancement in the region which saw the refining of crude locally, the making of Biafra Indigenous armoured tanks, aircrafts, communication gadgets etc.

Truth is, Ojukwu was not fighting to win, he was fighting for survival. We're talking about a genocide. These Nigerians had been massacring Biafrans since the early 1940s. Large scale pogrom in the North, time and time again, while the Federal govt, just like today, stand aside and do nothing. What was Ojukwu supposed to do? Stay under a govt that is bent on your extermination?

This is an impressively put together documentary of Nigeria's history. I've watched all parts from 1-4 and I'm left in awe of how much research and dramatization went into this production. I think, more Nigerians need to watch this documentary and it should be properly archived. Indeed, history offers a lot of background and information of what shapes the current happenings around us.

Finest documentary I've come across on this subject. The most emotional video I've watched in a very long while. Drew tears from my eyes multiple times, gripped by anger and bitterness intermittently. My father wasn't drafted into this war as a soldier, because his two elder brothers were. He delivered suppliers, however, and have bitter tales to tell. Both his brothers and he came out unscathed. Sadly, many didn't. 😔

The massacre of women protesters in Aba in 1929 by the colonial masters caused massive outrage in the UK, and probably marked the beginning of the reconsideration of colonialism by the British. What other fight are you talking about? Before independence the North, the East and the West were administered separately……even independently of each other, so the question of fighting themselves didn’t arise at all. The only interaction was at the level of individuals who chose to live in regions other than their ancestral regions. With the British in control, the various tribes were kept away from the throats of one another. Truth be told, considering everything that’s happened in Nigeria, I fully expect Nigeria to splinter into several countries eventually. There’s been too much bloodshed, and the hatred is still visible and raw, as was clear for all to see during the 2023 elections. With this mutual hatred, transmitted through the generations to even our youth today, I see no hope of true national integration at all. This country is just sitting on a keg of gunpowder and waiting for the right conditions to ignite it into a raging inferno.

Obayemi thank you for your kind words. Nigerians don't acknowledge the great sacrifice the Igbos had to pay when faced with an existential threat. The only option the Igbos had was to defend themselves against all the odds. The act alone is in defiance of submitting to genocide and the destruction of our spirit. Today we've pursued personal economic development despite the peculiar challenge when it comes to dealing with the Nigerian state.

You have done a really God job. Though the most popular version is that of New Africa but I love this version because it was a series. Watching from part 1 made me understand all the events that led to the war. Not a video that just showed the war in isolation. For long i have searched online to watch about the NCW 1967-1970, i couldn't find something rich. Now my hunger has been satiated. By far, this video for me has surpassed every knowledge, documentary, or detail about the Nigerian Civil War that i know. You have done truly well. Thank you for this detailed and well researched masterpiece. THIS IS HOW OUR HISTORY SHOULD BE TOLD. I felt i was watching a movie. Ver note worthy is also the fact that i didn't sense or see any bias or ethnic sentiments in the video. i feel that when history is been told especially when it is a touchy matter, it should be told with the truest sense of patriotism and sincerity, not attempting to spark or stir controversies and place blames, but simply an attempt to proffer a detailed story and analysis of "where we are coming and what happened"..
