Marcelo Sant Anna Yes. Central Africa has shaped most of the culture you find in Brazil and Cuba. This music actually reminds me of Makuta a bit. I can here similarities in the drumming.

i love african culture. here in germany there are a lot of africans but they all act like americans. i think it's a sad because i love the cultural african dress. I rarely see something like that with us. at most when a new afro shop opens and everything is presented. i once saw an african family with beautiful cultural clothes. i was amazed and i think the poor man thought, why i stare so stupid xD but i found it fascinating. i love the colors!

Ginger Baker, arguably one of the more innovative western drummers moved to S. Africa to learn from them. He showed me that there was much more to it than a 4 count. I myself can barely do that. I am considered a virtuoso on the triangle. Mostly in the key of 'A'.
I never knew that drumming had keys. Just started guitar. Can you recommend some initial tutorials on drumming and ideas of using a make-shift item as a drum... say a caron, small bucket... just wanna get the rythm. I want to use the skill in meditation and understanding rythm and beats which I will apply to guitar. Dont wanna be a drummer yet. I noticed that if I use three tones and 5 clap style on my stomach (lightly) for even two minutes, it helps.
+Always-Stay-Positive Just learn how to count different time signatures..like if you count in five, you can count it like one,two,one,two,three or you can count it like one,two,three,one,two and you'll already hear the difference. In playing drums the most important thing is to know how to count, and you can practice it anywhere and anytime by claping your hands or something like that. Just count loudly and clap your hands. I hope you'll find this helpfull.
