Im a Black American that moved to Kenya,I been to 8 African countries so far and im afraid to tell Africans,America is not a Paradise its a Nightmare on many levels, its peaceful and Blissful in Africa I suggest finding a way in Africa and just grind your way to success from wherever you stand!!!
I get what you are saying, but I feel like you're coming from a place of privilege in a sense. Actually, I'm noticing an opposite from both sides of the continents. Black North Americans want to reconnect with the culture & go back to the motherland, whilst Sub-Saharan Africans want to leave. Living in the United States & coming from an immigrant family, I can understand a bit of both worlds & their reasonings. But this is where I have an issue with your comment & similar; whilst I understand from a black American perspective why you'd say that, I find it a bit dismissive of what was explained in the video. How can you tell these native African youth to just grind, as if they haven't been doing that. A lot of these young people graduate the top of their class to no opportunities for them. What are they to do? You're also dealing with a lot of politicians that are old ancient men that have been in power since their independence or get power the right way & still find ways to mess that up, enrich themselves etc. Plus lack of security, lack of safety for women, misogyny, corruption all the way down to law enforcement, bribing of citizens etc. I could go on. Yes all of Africa is not bad really, in fact very beautiful & could rival developed destinations in other parts of the world, but that's not the reality for it's citizens when it comes to living conditions & opportunities. & I'm sorry, but I feel like you're coming from a romanticized & touristic point of view when talking about Africa 🌍. Even some black Americans are struggling in some countries, some have even left, it's a different way of life & you have to come in there with something that will change the landscape & make it better for it's people. Also, all of them are not relocating to the United States. They're usually headed for Europe & possibly some Asian countries.
@@FluteCheerios Africa (is home) is the best place for Africans (as a group) globally to live in the present and in the future; Africa has all the resourses (human and materials) that are needed for sustaining life. Europe, America, Asia is built for Europeans, Americans, and Asians . In those countries, Africans are the last to be employ and the first to be fired and Africans have to deal with racism in those countries. Africans should be looking to start businesses in Africa instead waiting for employment; there are a lot of business opportunies in Africa because African countries are still developing; (foreigners: Europeans, Asians, Americans are taking business opportunties in Africa) . That said, experience is the best teacher; for those Africans who want to migrate outside of Africa they should be prepared to detail with racism and have plan to return to contribute to the development of Africa. Yes, I agree, African Americans(and other Diasporas) who move to Africa have a financial advantage in Africa because of the weight of the foreign currency that they have and some maybe able to work remotely from Africa and continue to hire foreign currency.
@FluteCheerios so what is the answer on what our actions should be to live a better life. I see you list all of the problems and don't have any solutions.
@@WongelZelalem Yes. But we must have a better political system, which in turn will "choose" competent leaders. Party Politics is a popularity contest that elects popular "leaders", not the best or even good leaders.
it would take a 100 to 200 years for change though honestly. bc if youve spent time with them you will notice even the common people think tribal like the government. its embedded in their minds so its hard to see change. it will always be a poor place, at least i can speak for ethiopia.
No! No! and No!. It is the system that has turned us into the "monsters" you are talking about. Africans everywhere were NEVER like that. So, we must collectively figure out a way to RESET. The Tribal flames are fanned by our "rulers" as a means to DIVIDE and SUBJUGATE us. They are rulers, not leaders......
It’s ironic that while many continental born Africans want to leave their countries,us blacks born in the diaspora are repatriating to mother Africa. All I will say is that brothers and sisters in Africa would do well to remember that it’s the western nations that they are running to that are responsible for many of the woes in Africa. Don’t leave! Stay there and receive us who are coming home and together we will build a future for Africa and Africans at home and abroad.
I understand where these young Africans are coming from. However, I feel Africa idolises Western countries. It doesn’t help when people showcase their lifestyles in Western countries without being truthful about the reality of their lives on social media. If you really want to know what life is like here, speak to those who are not showing off on social media. I’m an African born in the UK, and there isn’t much opportunity for young people here either. This is a global problem.
Well, they'll soon find out. Look at what's happening in Europe because of immigration. People are getting tired of it, and are happy o vote for right wing/racist political parties to stop immigration. Look at what is about to happen in France. Look at what's happening in Germany, even where I'm from in the U.K....immigration is what will make or break our upcoming election! You'll see that legal and illegal immigration will be reducing very rapidly as these governments put new laws in place over the next few years. I really hope African countries will see this as a wake up call, when there is no where else to go but stay home. And there are some of us here, who are wanting to go to Africa,
at least theres hope in the u.k. , ur probably not trying hard enough, also theres running water and clean bathrooms with toleits, do you know how hard we have it in africa? i jjust left back to usa and i feel bad for my people but i know its their mindets.
@mikelary6071 Thank you for your response. While I understand your perspective, I believe that hope and opportunity are subjective and not just about effort. Life in the UK is objectively challenging for the average person; the idea that merit alone guarantees success is a myth. In the UK we are dealing with a cost of living crisis, low wages, scarce job opportunities, unaffordable housing, and failing public services. Our government is ineffective and often corrupt. It's important to note that even basic services can have issues here, such as water companies in the UK being caught disposing of raw sewage into rivers. I don't dispute that many people in Africa face significant hardships. However, I'm emphasising that the problems they seek to escape are also present in the countries they are moving to.
@mikelary6071 I'm not disagreeing with you on the problem of dictatorship rule & the harsh conservatism of African leadership & tribalism. But it's pretty grave & serious to assume the Western 😕 world is the answer to some Africans problems. Dying on rafts in the Mediterranean is NOT where it's at! Racism is NOT where it's at. Not all of them, but a number of these European powers are heading in a far right direction & of course, that term varies, but generally, they're cracking down on immigration. But I also understand the frustration of some Africans, especially the youth, on the lack of opportunities or even families who want to protect their future generations & leave horrible regime's, both sides do have some validity, but I also want to say that the answer is not the complete exodus of Africa, that doesn't help at all in the long run.
The youth of Africa, needs to stop fleeing and fight for their countries. They should fight and demand more from their so call leaders, just like the youth of Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Senegal , etc., are doing. 🤔 🇧🇫 🇲🇱 🇳🇪 🇸🇳 🦾
The answer is simple…….the governance systems we inherited from the colonialists (Europe mostly) are bad for Africa. The system produces leaders who are ALREADY WEALTHY. These leaders have never felt the pangs of hunger. That’s why it is so easy for them to INCREASE TAXES. Like Sam Cooke said: A change gonna come……Africa needs to take a hard look at the systems they are running. Then we can start the process of CHOOSING leaders NOT THROUGH WESTERN STYLE SO-CALLED DEMOCRACY. AFRICA MUST RESET….else, the people will keep “getting drowned in the Mediterranean and other seas.”
@AfricaReset I agree, I don’t think parliamentary politics/democracy works in Africa. It’s a system that creates an illusion of choice and allows the ruling class to be unaccountable. In the UK there is still very much a class system and those in power come privileged backgrounds so much for democracy.
@@gibson2675 “Seek ye first the POLITICAL KINGDOM, and all OTHER things shall be added to you.” The Greeks “invented democracy” thousands of years ago. Nevertheless, Greece is still a basket case…….Africa must choose DEVELOPMENT or DEMOCRACY, but you can’t have both*………I wish to escalate this…but certainly not here. Thank you bro.
Wengel I went to school with ur brother. We were actually best friends back in cruise school. I can understand the youth, I am also done. I will be leaving the country soon. I have never wanted to leave the country even when my friends left , I always thought about living in my country investing and building. But I am tired now, the tax rate, the war, not having freedom to speak, no opportunities, tribalism ……… etc. I am in my mid 20’s , I see my friends who left 5 years ago flourishing. I graduated with honors and book smart finished my degree and masters in good grade. But I am done with Ethiopia. Our government, leader and people failed US 😭
That’s what the colonizers want especially now… they need to stay and help build their country. The pastures are greenest in Africa, they need to realize that
Good timing on your part with putting this message out for all concerned to give further and ongoing consideration/ action. My hope is that SA will also hear.
Wongel my sister woman. One thing we must understand is that the western countries have mastered the art and science of capturing human beings. You should do a segment on that.
Irrespective of the difficulties that we're experiencing in Kenya, I'll remain in, invest in, grow up economically in Kenya. Let them leave but Kenya is and will remain to be my best nation, will visit other nations learn their way of life but Kenya is the place i was born to call home and be proud of.
Kindly Ms. Zelalem you and me are grownup people who understand better and know what todo, please advise young youth through your channels "when the government is bad you don't pack and leave you fight for a new revolution and by force change the regime". And then reshape your country and do the changes by your selves. After all that is your only home and there is no any other place you will ever feel free like home, outside there you are a foreigner and as a foreigner you are not free.
I have a good buddy who lives in Tema, Ghana, 40 minutes from Accra, he wants to move to Canada immediately. Too many African born people don't understand the potential of Africa, the Asians and people of European ancestry sure do. The various governments of Africa are to blame; all the tribal conflicts and BERLIN CONFERENCE borders halt progress. Africa has a bunch of hands in the pot, everybody gets a piece of Africa just because, compare that with China, who has a "ONE CHINA" policy, everything done in China must benefit the native Chinese people, that's how you sustain progress, PUT YOUR PEOPLE FIRST!
I live in Europe and in Northamerika but I can only say where you born is home . Uganda is really the Pearl of Africa . The best disicion ever to come back after 25 Years . Now I'm know where I like to be . I give thanks to the Lord also for the only and true love in my live my housebound he brings me back . He told me I bring you back home and ouer children . Look in the mirror my blossom you will be ever an afrikan and I will bring you home this is my promise onto you my lovely wife . And my man is white man . The Lord choose him for me the best give in my live . Hallelujah
I am an elderly white man in Texas, married an African American queen in '71, lost her to cancer in '94. After her passing it was my destiny to become godfather to six black American children, and I was blessed to be able to help raise them, with their moms. Today they are all successful adults 30-40. They are really fortunate in that their moms instilled in them the will and drive to progress and lift themselves up. So many black American youth do not have the environment nor parenting nor breaks in life to find the light to lifting themselves up. So many wind up on the wrong path, and in the injustice system of revolving prison doors for the rest of their days, if they are not shot. Gun crime in the USA is the worst in the world, really, no joke. Many youths here who were able to go to college or some higher learning also are now saddled with huge debt they will likely never pay off in their lifetimes! So America really is not a good place to immigrate to for any unless you have connections and MONEY or a business you can plug into. I discourage anyone coming here illegally, as it will often turn out to be disastrous! I watch a lot of African content on RU-vid and elsewhere as I have an insatiable desire to learn about life, even at my age. I strongly urge youth in Africa to strive to build their careers and life where you are. Find others with similar interests and formally collaborate to build your own businesses or income sources. I think Africans are the smartest people in the world, and certainly inventive, so apply your god-given talents, do not look for pie in the sky, make your own pies!!! Also get active in political action groups, for power only answers to greater power. The youth have the power needed to affect changes, just DO IT!
As an Ethiopian it’s true and I agree given the current situations in Ethiopia. A country where you are killed by your identity, ridiculous taxation , unstable country, dying economy. I’m an Ethiopian who is living in Europe currently, I moved 3 years ago, and most Ethiopians have been going out of the country ever since this government came to power. I have no intentions of going back to Ethiopia, but I have plans to move to other African countries in some years
Greener.pastures are not an illusion.Iam what I am today because of the greener pastures.14yrs ago I had lost but l got an opportunity to go for greener pastures in Asia and the rest is history. So young people if you get an opportunity for greener pastures seize it with both hands but you must have an entry and exit plan. Many africans when they go abroad they over time forget what took them there in the first place.
In Ethiopia right now there are too many problems from leadership, economy, safety and stability... that it's become a though place for majority of people and especially I think for young people who what to start a family and live a progressive life. So, the young, honest and highly educated are working hard to go and live elsewhere for a normal life which I find so sad because they were the ones that are most needed here now. I hope our leaders are aware of what is being lost.
Africa must have nations of "INTERNALLY CONTROLLED POLICIES"! Africa is opened up for any and everyone to just walk right in without saying "hello". In the 21st century you must do a few simple tasks to have a thriving, happy nation: put the citizens first, not corporations, not immigrants, put the rank & file citizen first, next, do what is best for the MAJORITY, don't follow lifestyles just because another nation says you should, and finally, you must have 1 leader who is about moving forward. China is so far ahead of America because 1 man is in charge of CHINA (PRESIDENT XI), America always has a presidential election, and everyone gets to disrespect traditions in America, this is why morale is low in America for the vast majority of the rank and file citizens.
It would require a multidimensional effort from government, private sector, external forces (friends, clients, investors), academic and scientific sectors, technology sector, and business/economic sectors working in concert via political economy across generations or cohorts for decades! Of course, the involvement of youth and young adults is imperative. On the counterintelligence level, sycophants and traitors must be sanctioned. You are aware that culture, communication, and integrating diverse groups into a new consciousness would be required for any sustainable success. Vested interests must be negotiated or neutralized by institutional social structures and forces. Youth and adults each have weaknesses. To have zeal without knowledge is catastrophic eventually. To have age with stagnation is toxic for any society. Just a few immediate thoughts from a global sociologist who has studied many societies around the world for four decades 🌎!
The grass is greener right under your feet! Self employment and self sustinance is never taught unfortunately! I have seen self employed young folks in Africa in farming. It's not easy! But if you must decide to leave be aware of unbearable loneliness to deal with along with the unsomountable challenges I can't explore here completely!
in ethiopia, the women will leave with ANYONE even an alien to get out of there. the men too but theyre not really saught after as much. its really sad. you can see the hopelessness and stress in all of their faces as u pass by. they dont understand the tribalism is doing this. and that lady is lying, people have always felt this way for decades.
Working in my continent African get nothing from all the double hustle I make what I gain so I want to leave the continent see how they lead us in my home continent the can't correct what is wrong African we need our self African unite one currency that what we need for better future
Black Americans was to leave the usa to build in Africa…however I think the japa ppl aren’t leaving Africa for the same reasons that black Americans are leaving the USA
According to the IMF- "Africa's population is growing rapidly, and is projected to reach nearly 2.5 billion by 2050. This would be a 90% increase from 2022, when the population was around 1.4 billion, and would account for 25% of the world's population. By the end of the century, Africa's population could reach 40% of the global population" So if that projection is true, 1 out 4 of folks found on the planet would be African in 25 years. Nothing stays the same forever, there are citizens waking up, taking a stand and saying enough is enough and won't be going anywhere. It's natural to seek a better quality of life elsewhere. Look at all the nationalities found at the US Southern Border...Latinos, Chinese, Indians and even Eastern Europeans. How do you think white ppl ended up in places they weren't invited into? They just "settled" and invaded instead of building their own countries. The African continent will be okay.
This is so sad to see, we in the Caribbean all want to make at least on trip to the continent. Please stay and built your country. My relatives in the states are working to leave and they have great jobs and homes because its not the best.
Well we cant stop them, let them go and feel how hard it is to live in US 😅😂 i rather live in a peaceful place like Africa because it has a pure organic food.
As a half Ethiopian and half black American woman who plans to move to Ethiopia I have questions. What do young women do now? Do they just live with their families and not move out? In somewhere like Ethiopia specifically how do what is the cost of living for a single person living modestly in USD? I wonder if there is a way to use video editing or journalism to hire young Ethiopian women as bloggers or editors to American women which would cover the cost of living? Something like that? If it’s low that would be a cool concept. Do most young adults have Wi-Fi and reliable internet? I haven’t actually been yet so I’m sincerely asking.
That is a lot of questions you have asked my sister 😀. I can make a video explaining it better. I am sure what you have mentioned could help many young girls. To answer your question, most Ethiopians live with their parents until we start our own family. Also, cost of living is dependent on which area you are living in and what kind of accommodation you are looking for.
@@WongelZelalem if you could make a video explaining that - that would be incredible. The cost of living and quality of life conversations are really hard to find online. I think of more young women started downtown living - they would see clear gaps in the market as opportunities for businesses. Maybe this is already a thing but I haven’t heard this conversation anywhere
@@WongelZelalem if there really are a bunch of new college grads with internet connection and laptops. If any are foodies, I would hire a young women to food blog for me and take note of coffee shops, restaurants sandwich shops. Where they are and how things cost. How to get there. I would pay for the cost of this. I wouldn’t even know where to find someone who fits the profile you are talking about.
They are going to live to regret it I think. But I imagine they feel the same about fighting their institutional problems that we do about racism. So it's hard to judge frfr
I posted this comment on your video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-VuALMdUzPOM.htmlsi=LlODMaGlLY6ReUZE but I thought you may not see it there as the video was uploaded a long time ago, so I resend it here. ----------------------------- Thank you very much Wogel, for uploading this informative video about beautiful Ethiopia. Speaking of the thirteen months of the year, I hope that you will make a video about the time system in Ethiopia and how it divides the hours of the day and night, and also tell us about the Ethiopia names of the months, and what are the most important festivals and events during the year -in Ethiopia
Maybe a hundred years ago this appeal might have helped but today you have to see the very lack of caring for anyone other than ones self and Africa has been at the front of this movement for longer than most so you have no real shot to win this argument !
Ms. Zelalem, has it ever occurred to you that they are just being realists? ... so let me ask how many Ethiopians have been killed at the hands of other Ethiopians in your native country from 1978 - present? ... All-the-while there is no end in sight! Just in 2022 alone, there were 100,000 deaths based on the conflict in Amhara. So, if you account for all the deaths since 1978, based on constant inter-Ethiopian disputes, it is well over 1 million that were senselessly killed. ... there is a saying that 'you create your own reality,' and that in this regard, no one can help yourself better than yourself ... and yet all you do on your channel is complain and groan about the West ... remember the parable of three servants and what happened to the servant who did not increase ... even the little that was given was taken away from him and he was cast away whereby he wept and cried out while gnashing teeth, but no one paid him no attention. Please wake the continent and empower and exhort them with the theme of self-love/self-help because no one was made to be born w/o talent ... and stop wasting time exhorting and leading people w/ useless and powerless complaints. There is a saying ... a mind is a terrible thing to waste - UNCF ... believe that as the truth!
Wongel 😊 .. when i watch your video, interview with these young people, they don't look anorexic, the clothes are very nice, sun 😎 glasses, smiling 😀 and joking .. they don't look poor, they say only to the camera, that they want to emigrate 😅😂 haha .. after few weeks they will be back to Africa .. 85% usa people can not afford to pay bills .... so where is the usa garbage heaven .. ????
forcing? hahahaha u know nothing about africans and africa. u sound like a joker. go interview the leaders and even the people, youll appreicate the west real fast brother.
