Playing LE afer D4 is like... like breaking free after being in a prison. But in the prison there was a slightly better graphics.

How many hours of ARPG do you want to play each quarter? 50 hours or less: D4 is fine for this use case if you already own it. If you don't own either, Last Epoch probably wins out due to its lower price tag and focus on quality of life features. 100-200 hours: Last Epoch 400 or more hours: Path of Exile And yeah, I did leave gaps in there. Those are kind of murky, and you would probably be happy with a game on either side of that span in those cases. And the more you go to the higher end of hours played, the more likely it is you end up taking a vacation with the games lower on the investment scale as a palette cleanser occasionally. I am in the 300-500 hour club, so I will probably alternate between Last Epoch and PoE on a regular basis, and then check in on D4 once a year or so when they have a seasonal theme that particularly excites me.

After 10 years of POE this game scratches my itch much better.

The combat in D4 is done superb. I can feel the power of my hammer drop. It what keeps me playing.

I have started LE on release by curiosity, I ended by uninstalling D4 after 900h. The game is completely the best Argo at mo, so much addictive you really feel that it have been made by real passionate devs

LE has way way way better crafting system, where you can craft exactly what you want not to mention target farming. Not to mention that every SKILL has a separate skill tree which is bigger than the whole D4 skill tree and there are interactions between them so one skill can trigger or change another skill, and the same goes with items where an item can totally change the way how the skill works. A good example would be an explosive trap. You can spec so it will be fired with a bow at a longer distance but you can spec so you will throw it and make explosions to fire explosive arrows at nearby enemies and then you can spec those explosive arrows so they will do a chain lightning damage between itself. And if this is not enough you can also add to this automatically thrown acid flasks and spec to them as well. And suddenly from just an explosive trap, you have an entire screen melting from lightning, poisons, and explosions. Great and FUN - the one word D4 devs forgot. Legendary potential and forging potential are just brilliant ideas (maybe forcing us to go to the same dungeon over and over again to combine the legendary item with the exalted item is a bit annoying). LE is a new game (released recently) so needs time to grow to get more content but the core mechanics and ideas are really nicely done. LE is made with Unity and you can see it as the graphic is not as polished as in D4 and animations are clunky but this is more on the Unity side. Overall great game.

Just play what you like. And you can certainly come back to D4 anytime anything interesting is released.

atm - D4 give it a rest until season 4 - then when you min max your toon, switch over to LE or other games - i've put in about 300 hrs into LE (thousands in other aprg and wow), mostly sentinel, and tbh i think the "idea" of subclassing is overblown - might just be the Sentinel, but you pretty much run the same enabler/proxy skills with different main attacks - the new skills like Healing hands, Sigil and rework of Reversal makes it standard in most builds - so build diversity is greatly exaggerated on Sent, Primalist and Falconer.

Holy shit this was refreshing lol. I don't think I'll ever go back to D4 just based on the bullshit they have pulled over this year. I will say the worst thing about Last Epoch is I played it too much in prelaunch. I hope you grind some POE as well my dude. The new league looks sick.

This is not a comparison but i think Last Epochs endgame is extremely boring, you can use the amazing crafting system but for what exactly, to run even more monoliths?

You wanna know what's really sad? I just don't think that when you see them talking in the campfire or gameplay videos it's stuff being handed over by PR. In presentations such as patch features and stuff? yes. But I just think this is really them, and I know because you can see them interact with people in other places such as blizzcon, outside of panels, and they seem just as souless and oblivious to the kind of game they were tasked with creating. I've heard many stories of ex-blizzard and riot people talking about how when you are in there it's like a cult, and that's how I feel when I watch them talk, like I'm watching people in a cult.

Play both and after some time you'll know which one you're having more fun playing. For me personally, it's LE hands down.

You actually can skip most of the LE campaign after your first play through of it. if you just go through the dungeons when you're able to reach them you can skip like 5 or 6 acts of the campaign. Just gotta make sure you do enough side quests to get your passive points and idol slots. You do have to do a full campaign play through on your first character though.

D4 audio-visuals and story level + LE character progression and build/craft system + Some of the PoE complexity + Lost Ark Raids/overall boss system and its combat feeling = Voila, perfect arpg

I agree with everything but one thing I found a little bit not particularly well thought through. About some items. Other classes than barb in D4 do have interesting uniques (druid for example have skill altering items) but at the same time LE have set items which blizz team forgot how to make.

Lol since 2018 I played Last Epoch so I spent 3000 hours. I even played my last Class Warlock, and I'm done until there is an expansion, if ever. For those that lived under a rock and never played LE, good for you, you have another ARPG to spend some time.

Definitely play LE it’s way better it’s feels good and respects your time, end game doesn’t feel Grindy or stale and experimenting with all the different builds is great! Looking at you diablo one class maybe having one or two play styles

I'm playing LE now. Still enjoy D4, but nothing to do until PTR. Gauntlet is ok, but I'm not going to play it more than a couple hours a week. Don't need to marry either game. They aren't handing out exclusive contracts. :D

I bought LE before launch to try out between seasons in D4......cant see myself ever playing D4 again. They would need to completely gut D4 and remake it from the ground up to be on par with LE. Hopefully, Blizzard takes some ideas from them and makes D5 worth playing or even better fire their entire development team and hire the LE guys to make the next Diablo.

I have about 50h on D4 and around 500h in LE. LE is The one I'm still playing.

D4 just didn't have enough complexity for me I ended up leaving after season 1 and played POE... never looked back, go 80 hours on last Epocj 1.0 really enjoying it, got a hell of alot of potential. The potential has a higher liklihood of being realised by Last Epoch than D4.

For me It's also about the Items that drop. D3 and D4 fall foul on this. they 99% of the time drop only your class. where as the D2 system is very similar to last epoch where you can farm with any char for items. This then makes you want to play new chars when you find that 1 rare piece that intrigues you. hell I have 5 classes so far this season for LE can't say I played that much at all on D4 in trying new chars.

I've played 45 hours of Diablo IV. I've played 417 hours of Last Epoch.

LE has a shitload of bugs, but who cares. It's so damn fun and all classes seem like they can be made to rock. You feel like a God with every new char you make.

I prefer D4. Am I playing it right now? No, HellDivers and FF7 have my time. But I tried Last Epoch and it was cool, but I didn’t love it. The gameplay feel is just not there for me. Can Diablo 4 make some better systems, of course it can. So I just need to wait. For the “super Diablo fans” that are only fans of D2, I don’t know what to tell you. Blizzard showed you what it was doing with D3. They showed you what D4 was going to be. Diablo is not for you anymore I guess? And that’s okay, you can play Diablo 2 plus in LE and POE.

Classes are a big point for me. I'll never forgive Blizzard for releasing yet another Diablo game with the paladin missing at launch. So, my favourite class coming years down the line in combination with the fact that we cannot turn most fantasies into successful builds, detracts a lot from the Diablo experience. I'll probably play both games but, right now, it's hard not to like Last Epoch more.

D4 had honestly made me abandon arpgs long before LE came out; it had made me feel like I paid $80 to play a pretty mobile game. The build variety in LE just allows for so much creativity and impact in your build; it does all the most important things in an arpg fantastically, where D4 does the things that arent really important.

D4 is a big L for me. Huge Diablo fan, but it seems that blizzard have fish brains and dont learn anything from their past games or from other games within the genre. The only thing D4 has ontop of LE for me is that LE is horribly optimised. I have a good pc, AAA games run good, D4 runs around 120-140fps on high settings 1440p, POE runs good on max everything. Last Epoch no matter what settings I use runs like absoloute trash, it dips into single digits sometimes. Theres a post on their forums with people running all kinds of powerful setups, including I9s and 4090s with the same issue. I'm guessing it has something to do with the Unity engine, but I dont know. I have tried so many things to fix the problem but its really exausting my patience and I'm probably gonna take a break until they sort it out. I really wish more people would talk about this, as it does seem to be a fairly common issue wihtin the community. To be fair it was way better before they did these last couple of hotfxies which were supposed to fix performance issues... Even with these issues its still much better than Diablo. If they work out the optimisation kinks nothing will stop em.

I'd definitely give it a try, if it comes out on console. Laugh if you want, but I challenge anyone to fit a full computer setup in a truck and have any living space left over, let alone a comfortable gaming experience. Laptops won't even be considered.

POE is my main game, although LE is proving to be an amazing ARPG. I am old school D2 player, played D3 for a little while before starting POE, then never looked back until D4. Loved D4 campaign, but just don't understand how a company with so many dev's can't seem to get anything right and yet a small company like EHG makes LE with so many things already working and correct. But I agree with you that each class really really feels unique and is one of the best things about the game, each class feels so so different.

Diablo needs to sack the current game directors and bring someone in with passion for arpg’s then do a hard reset with a free expansion. That’s the only way people will come back because right now there is so little faith it will get much better.

I have played both and i dont think that one is better than the other, they are different, with their cons and pros.

I'll stick to D4. Just love the graphics, the atmosphere and the lore. I have played D4 for more than 500 hours and so far I am neither bored nor disappointed in any way. Can't wait for Season 4 and Vessel of Hatred. D4 has improved since launch and will continue to do so. Let's be honest, LE has been in early access for almost 5 years. D4 is not even a year old. Let's see what the future holds. I think we will have a lot of fun with both games.

I've been a Blizzard fan for ages, especially at that time when you could play Diablo offline and those Diablo CDs to download the game. But unfortunately, Blizzard Diablo's missteps turn into screw-ups and then morph into a big FUQ-UP! Very sad.

In my opinion, LE is even better for casuals like me. I have been grinding Monoliths, and I can just turn off my brain and blast. There is no prerequisites or weird like freeing 6 prisoners. It's just fast and fun. But, when I knew this game was far better for casual ol' me was when I completely changed up my Runemaster by easily going with the Merchants Faction and buying cheap versions of gear I would need to turn the build on. D4 season 1 and 2 I wanted to completely change up my character, but I didn't have the energy to hunt down all the items I would need to do this so I just stop playing the season.

Honestly as much as we hate on D4 (Deservedly, I might add) it's not the worst game I've ever played. Having said that, the reasons I'M not playing are pretty simple: 1. I don't like the dungeon design. 2. I don't feel like I can really DO anything with my skills or class. The skill trees are woefully inadequate for an arpg in this era. You need more than 5 classes, and you need more ability to customize your skills beyond the skill twigs each skill has. (2 options per skill, really Blizzard? What happened to skill runes from D3?)

Hi Dalkora, i would like to mention something.You are one of the few HC diablo channels on youtube and also one of the best in terms of theorycrafting but playing aswell. I also like that you are not afraid to show your flaws or mistakes even into videos, and even a potential character loss wont break you down. My point is that i also had a HC barbarian in S1 and i could not find information anywhere about how i should optimize my player for HC. In short my last two paragon boards were personal, and then i discovered your channel, where i saw we had almost identical paragon boards(thankfully) and while i did lost that barbarian at lvl 85 you inspired me to start all over again and hit lvl100 on fairly harder level up environment at this point(season1) Diablo IV has many good and bad ascpects at the same time which make it akward indeed. however i would not call it straight up bad or good. let me explain. At some point a friend of mine convinced me to try POE. Aesthetically i dont like the graphics at 2024 (and i come from the 8bit generation of graphics btw) The game is magnificent though as long as you have the time and dedication to commit to it, which is not my cup of tea anymore. On the other hand Diablo is more simple and requires less time to get at a satisfying point with vast better graphics,animations and maybe some stolen mmo elements. Ideal for people with limited time and commitment. I am not trying to defend diablo and i am far from a metagamer/hyper anymore. You should play what you like indeed, but i believe you are an importand member of hardcore community and i advice you not to quit atleast. Take example D3. People may not remember but D3 was even worse at the beggining, with pay2win elements, limited content, limited loot... Eventually ROS launched and many things changed to better. D3 got to a point being satysfying to play and a fun game in my humble opinion. These are not excuses why d4 may suck especially while some of these mistakes have been made again in the past with d3, i just mentioned these because if the game follows some simple steps it can also shine... Duriel i believe was an idea to give you some endgame content with epic loot, while on the same time making helltides, and general objectives relevant again past level 80. But this is it really... Lilith,sigils, and Duriel is the endgame content pretty much, and this is what hurts the game the most. Being repetitive with the exact same steps and expectations after a point. Also stash should be significantly larger and not 1 stash per season...I mean to make alts just to park your items was never a good solution Loot filter, or sets.We either need one of these 2 or even both. i would rather look for specific weapon or pants or whatever, rather reading every single yellow or legendary in the game. and while personally i've become extremely fast at it, this is not an excuse or an expectation settlement for this game design. I like the idea of extraction but it is overwhelming without filters. Now regarding the variety of builds i disagree with you, there are many viable builds in the game however i would love to see legendary powers that transform your abilities , or trasnfomations that can potentially transform again with other items like you said, and also builds that are more balanced when compared to each other. What am i trying to say is that personally i enjoy coming back to diablo playing like 2-3 weeks with no commitments, get some gear and have fun and then do something else.... and i believe there are also a lot of people with the same mindset. Personally i've grew tired commiting into games grinding countless hours only to eventually get bored at a point which is normal, but you are a proffesional player now and have different needs which I respect and understand. But please be aware of the hypers and metagamers...at summer they will play poe2, then diablo expansion, then something else and you will be stuck with last epoch, losing viewers and subscribers in the long run. I may be mistaken dont hate me about that. But channels with dedication to something usually do better. Nothing wrong with last epoch, i just dont like people jumping from game to game like they are bees going to flowers or sheep if you prefer. this people hurt gaming community, because they cant be pleased with anything and shitalk about everything.

Yes, D4 is horrid. I have been a hige Diablo fan since d2. D4 isnt even living up to its predecessor in my humble opinion. They are too far out of touch, and doing a horrible job with thr game all around. 🤷‍♂️ its very sad to see them ruin a great franchise.

I really wish Blizzard would squish d4 and WoW from 20 years ago together until some sort of love child came out. That might be a game worth playing. Personally, I'm done with season 3. I've got 3 respectable level 100's and that's as much as I can take. Season 2 was great, maybe season 4 will be great too.

The D4 campaign story and graphics are a masterpiece. Everything after is a soulless money grab. Talents are not fun. Rigid gearing in a sea of stats is not fun, and also makes crafting terrible. The seasons have been lackluster. Cosmetics are obscenely expensive for a game which I paid a AAA price. The development approach in D4 was not done well. The people behind Last Epoch on the other hand are passionate about their game and are very transparent about it. No way I'll play D4 again unless they make drastic changes. There are better options even outside of Last Epoch.

Long story short: LE is the much better game in every aspect except story/visuals/cinematics.

D4 looks great but it is hidden behind too much darkness and it all blends together with muted tones. There's something wrong with the black levels of the lighting in it and is the only game I've ever played that gives me instant eye strain. Sure the grfx in LE are lower resolution but it's far from being "playdough" 😂 The issue I have the most though with D4 is the dev team asumed they could do no wrong and in their outright arrogance, refused to learn any lesson from D3's decade+ of improvements. Nevermind they didn't do any research on the good or bad of ANY other successful arpg. Its the ewuivalent of their entire dev team sticking their heads in the ground miles apart from eachother and saying "This is fine." I'd say LE is the actual Diablo-killer, but the reality is the franchise killed itself. Now, we have a bright future of arpg ahead of us with this and PoE2. I am finally, after 25 years, done with what I used to call "My forever game." 😢

I love your content and you helped me enjoy d4 with your awesome builds but I’d try to move on if I were you because I’m over this game it’s just so boring. The content is stale, nothing fun to chase because the Uber grind is mind numbingly boring. I wish the content in Diablo was better but it just keeps getting worse

LE is a POE clone. and POE isnt as special as all want to champion it. LE will quickly morph into flavor of moment built upon a very shady RWM environment of tradables for real cash market. POE and its infinite currency system like LE is a turn off. i just do not care about that. its trading off one farm system for another farm system that seems better but is just a farm grind system
