The alternators are the first to go on these since they sit low and get hit with all the mud water, my 07 was the exact same way. Kind of the achilles heel with taking these engines off road.
I should. It probably could of been repaired but I'm leaving to go on a trip soon and didn't really have time to "try fixing it". I've never opened one before. Is it hard? I might look that up...🤔
I learned years ago to use factory parts after replacing the stater 4 times in a week on my 2004 Tundra 4.7 V8 thats under the intake manifold. I put a Toyota remanufactured starter and no issues afterwards
Yeah. On one hand I like using OEM Nissan parts. I know they will most likely last a long time. But I don't like payinb damn near $700 for an alternator lol
Why the f*ck would Nissan put an alternator that low on the vehicle? I have thought about getting a Pro-4X as a second (more comfortable) vehicle after my Jeep is paid off but this may have changed my mind. 😅
It was like 18 months to 2 years most auto parts stores would have have what you needed. In pulling the alternator did you figure a way for a mini skid shield like a mini bicycle fender
It's definitely doable.. probably could use the same bolts that hold the alternator on as the mounts. Not sure if the alternator would get too hot? It's already pretty tight done there lol
Just had my battery swapped out for an antigravity… pricey but hands down best battery ive ever used… even with the electric power steering in the gladiator, this thing is waay better than any agm battery ive ever used…
@reallegend667 lithium battery. I have them in my bikes. Light and work well. Looking to grab one for my 23 pro4x but having issue with finding 1. Other brands make them but I dig antigravity so far. They are very expensive though
yes, it does. I initially thought the same thing. However, since replacing the alternator, the voltage has been very steady and not all over the place like it used to be. I mean, it varies a little bit, but within normal range ... I still would like to remove that system or unplug it if possible.
@@4wdAdventurz I posted about the most detailed visual on it last night on club frontier...when I'm back on a computer I'll share it here if you like (your channel, don't wanna post with our permission) ..the thread itself was good but I added pictures with arrows and descriptions
@4wdAdventurz haha no worries still sick truck. Want one just like it bro. Just wish you showed removing it and replacing as that would be helpful as well. Keep the videos coming.
to be honest filming that part was the last thing on my mind. We have been fucking with this thing for over an hour trying to remove it without damaging the electrical clip on the back. I was just ready to be done. 😂
@@4wdAdventurzmy dad is 70 now and lives 2000 miles away. I see him maybe one week a year. It sure sounds like you already appreciate the time you have with him, but don't take it for granted. I live in fear of the day I get "the call." May be 20 years or 20 minutes from now.
In your honest opinion would you recomment getting one of these new frontiers? I own a 1999 Nissan Frontier XE 4x4, considering getting a 2022 or 2023. Thank you
100%. I put this think through alot and it hasn't had any issues yet. A low hanging alternator is probably the only design issue this truck has. The best thing about the truck is it simplicity.
