I loved this song when I was a kid. The two that are singing are Babyface’s older brothers. They look just alike. I saw them in concert in the 90s. This was when R&B was hot and great.
Back when this song was on the charts, my then-girlfriend pointed out that the second lead vocalist sounds like a male Whitney Houston. I’ve remembered that every time I hear this song - she was right.
After 7 was the BOMB!! Being related to Babyface, you know these boys got soul! This is one of the many flavors of the NEW JACK SWING. The best (imo) sub genre of R&B

I’m so glad to see the people of younger generations, listening to great music. I used to listen to this when I was a kid even though this music was a little too grown for me. This is one of my favorite groups. RIP Melvin. (the first lead singer.)

Because that was REQUIRED back in the day to even get a recording contract. 4:38 - Secondly, they're not called After 7 for nothin. It's literally meant to be grown folks music for AFTER 7pm activities. Their FIRST single ("In the Heat of the Moment") is about NOT being able to resist sexual temptation; their SECOND single ("Can't Stop") STARTS off by saying that they just had the best emo-sex they've ever had the previous night with the woman they're singing the song to/about/for and can't believe it because they've never became emotional during sex before, so...yeah. One of their songs ("G.S.T.") asks 🎶If I give you good sex TONIGHT, won't you stay? Stay with me another night?!"🎶 So the answer to your question is that they believe that good sex is the way to a lasting relationship. In the liner notes of their 2nd album (I own the first 3 albums!), they specifically thank their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ...for giving them the grace to sing about SEX and relationships from a MALE perspective.
