If you want to break up, don't pull your punches with a line that "kind of but not really" means we might get back together at some point, just be upfront about it and don't lead the other person on. And who knows; when they look back on it, they might even have some retroactive respect and appreciation for you because you were honest and didn't play with their feelings.
