Investigators have learned what happened to a man who was mistakenly released from prison after raping multiple children in the Grand Rapids area and elsewhere in the country in the 1960s and 1970s. (June 10, 2024)
Agree 💯👍🏼 but if some reason he is, let it b short time.A friend of mine said some1 she knew that did the exact same thing 4 her daughter & that mom did 5 years
Us black people don't play those types of crimes. Other groups take money from these people/priest so they can do it again and again. Look at wyte female married teachers
My grandfather didn't know my grandmother was attacked. My grandfather is a certified psycho and is doing life in federal prison. When he found out the guy and the girl he was with were found n the trunk of a car 😂😂😂😂😂 true story

That's what I saw as well I I can't really believe his his own family wasn't looking for him wasn't looking out for him like he had no real family or friends and was just praying on other people
Horrible- her struggles are written all over her face. I was kidnapped years ago by a stranger. After throwing myself through a glass window from his brutality- I landed and RAN until I found a cop. The man was picked up 3 days later walking around with a hatchet across town. We are not victims- but survivors of societies PSYCHOPATHS!! CHEERS TO YOU IRMA!!❤❤❤❤
That’s why vigilantism is illegal because it highlights the laws inability to deliver justice or even carry out the law. It reminds people that they still have agency to decide how to protect themselves, or how to get justice for themselves..
Hill (who had assumed a new identity) was going to act again had Vernon Phipps not shot and killed him in December 1983 in Pittsburgh. That's why he could not be found; he was dead for 40 years.
"That led us to Pittsburgh PD on April 23," Garrett said. "We went down to the archives...and this 78-year-old detective...he brings out a carton with a file for a man named Abdullah Muhammad. A detailed genealogy report revealed Hill (aka Muhammad) started his new secret life in Pennsylvania. That's where files showed Hill was shot and killed in 1983 by a man named Vernon Phipps, the brother of another one of Hill's victims." So Vernon was known by police to have killed him. But what happened to Vernon? Did he die in prison?
THAT BROTHER DID WHAT COPS FAILED TO!!! He truly thought he beat the system!!! But not a victim bro who took justice in his right hand!! The justice system always fails children
So do families. I was molested at 7 by a nephew and told my parents and they went after him but he was gone and guess what no one ever did anything though everybody knew.
@@poollife777 Yup! Family can be the worst. They love to cover up abuse then blame the system for the reason their child grew up having mental health issues..."that's ya daddy Chile you need to forgive him... that's ya uncle... remember he helped us out with hard times for many years...aww that's ya cousin he ain't mean no harm... don't tell nobody because what happens in this house stays in this house...this family business". @@neilkurzman4907 What? The cops don’t execute anybody? No offense, but it’s obvious that you don’t live in the USA because it happens quite frequently here. One such government drone just executed an Air Force airmen because he answered his door.
They didn't say God, they said most high, could be referring to Haile Selassie I, who was a living breathing man if you know Rasta, which you don't lol.
Erma’s story should be made into a movie, it’s an incredible story of adversity over evil, she’s a strong, amazing woman who deserves peace, but never got justice properly, but at least he’s not alive to hurt any more children, hopefully that will help her get some comfort and closure, hope the brother of one of his victims is a free man and needs a medal.

This news story leaves out a few missing puzzle pieces, so here is some additional information. I was able to locate some articles that provided this: *”Through genealogical evidence left with his victims, detectives were able to knock on the doors of six contacts Tommy Lee Hill had in Pittsburgh. All of them had their own stories of Hill molesting or raping family members. Through these contacts, law enforcement discovered Hill had changed his name during his time in Pittsburgh. This brought them to Pittsburgh authorities, where they met a 78-year-old detective who had studied the case for years. He showed them photos of a man named Abdula Muhammad. He was killed on December 4, 1983. Hill was shot in the back of the head by a man named Vernon Phipps after Hill apparently molested his sister.”* How police were able to link Vernon to Hill’s murder - I have no idea. I also couldn’t find any information that clarifies if he was ever convicted for the murder or even if Vernon is still alive. If he is alive, I hope he’s doing okay. He provided justice for his sister, and the rest of the survivors that Hill harmed. I hope that all of the survivors know that this was NEVER their fault, and I pray they have found peace and healing and are leading happy lives. Vernon Phipps saved so many more children from enduring the agony that Hill had created.
Still nothing on what happened to the shooter, Vernon Phipps. In a civilized society we shouldn’t have to rely on vigilante justice but the system failed and this man took care of business. If he was arrested and charged, I hope a jury acquitted him.
We don't play no games in my little city of Pittsburgh 💪🏾. I research as well from what I found Vernon has a Facebook and is a picture of a older black gentlemen and he's from the Westside of the city while I'm from the Eastside. He looks well I'm just mad that we don't share the same friends😡😂. I could've found out more details and I would love to congratulate him
Way to track down that extra info this video was lacking. I'm disappointed that this news team didn't bother, though. Thanks for posting the followup info in a comment, too, I was very curious.
Seems to me like a lot of people in the Philippines would rather keep quiet about such matters It seems to me like there is a HUGE amount of shame there And that a lot of problems that people be having seems like they hope it all would just disappear Here in United States of America a lot of people are hyper inquisitive when such matters happen like this and it seems like here in America that everything is hyper organic and chaos but it is quite the opposite most people tend to stick and stay with a small amount of family or friends so most people kind of know other people in that small family and friends circle here in America a lot of people are hyper inquisitive and we tend to question everything including all of reality who is lying to who why are they lying even though that's how most people communicate here in America but why and more importantly who
"That led us to Pittsburgh PD on April 23," Garrett said. "We went down to the archives...and this 78-year-old detective...he brings out a carton with a file for a man named Abdullah Muhammad. It was brought to our attention that the gentleman who had fled our authorities had raped so many kids here in Grand Rapids back in the 70s and 80s." Shaw would later confirm through photos that Muhammad was in fact Tommie Lee Hill, but justice for Shaw was unknowingly already served. Years before investigators arrived in Pittsburgh, Hill was shot in the back of the head on Dec. 4, 1983, after allegedly touching the sister of Vernon Phipps, according to Garrett. "So he got his own level of street justice it seems," Garrett said. Don't know what happened to Mr. Phipps but this is to fill in the gap of the story.
My biological father is a child molester and i often wonder how many people out there, were victims too. I know of four people, myself, my baby sitter, his own sister and my mother. He used to travel for work. Evil man.
The shooter was Vernon Phipps. Shot Hill in the back of the head back in ‘82 or ‘83. That’s all I got. The station’s news readers can only recite what is written for them to read.
Once they realized their mistake from the "miscommunication", why was it really so hard to track this guy down in the 3 years he was running around free? So what if he changed his name? It's obvious no resources were put into finding this monster. Absolutely disgusting!
I like to think the search fizzled out decades ago after an investigator found out what happened, had some humanity, and did the right thing, said "nah he's got a rock solid alibi, couldn't have been him."
Agreed. He probably realized what happened, and realized what a fucking monster this guy was, and shut down the investigation. Such things used to be fairly common.
Not their fault, this is what happened, "Garrett said they finally caught a break with a genealogy trail that led them to Pittsburgh, where they knocked on doors. Garrett also cited facial recognition and social media as helping in the search. “We finally met one contact that gave us a timeline. This gentleman had changed his name to Abdualla Muhammad. He was a serial rapist,” Garrett said, adding that Hill had multiple identities including four social security numbers." They did try to find him in the 80s. Google didn't exist.
and this..."“He was shot in the back of the head, Dec. 4, 1983, by a man named Vernon Phipps after he touched Vernon’s sister,” Garrett said. Garrett said that Hill was fingerprinted on Dec. 5, 1983, but no record for him populated at the time."
What a beautiful, intelligent and articulate woman. She could have let this awful thing destroy her life but instead she used it to make herself stronger.
Wow, you can tell this lady had developed a lot of emotional resolve. May have always had it considering the amount of women i know who struggle to come forward in these scenarios, and she did it at 12
And no mention of the brother killing him other than the info written on the thumbnail graphic? Is the brother still alive ? How did police find out ? What? She didn’t know her brother killed him? Where did they find the body ? What ?
It's a guy from Pittsburgh Vernon Phipps. After my research, his Facebook pop up resembling a older man where he's alive and well if that's the same guy. I'm from there so I'm familiar from where he is from, I might know somebody that know of him because the black community is small in that city lol. We don't play no games when you violate ours so I'm not surprised 🤷🏾
wwmt news channel has a great timeline that has a lot more information than this video. The brother that killed him was not her brother, he had a whole new family.

Erma is amazing. What happened to her would have destroyed a lot of people and sent them down a dark path for the rest of their lives (understandably so) but she didn’t let that evil man ruin her. And to whoever the victim’s brother is who shot this man, as a mother of two girls myself…thank you for your service 🥂
I got a notice to be respectful when I comment on here Really ? My question is how come she gave him so much respect when speaking about him calling him MR.Hill disgusting Munster ! And why is her child by him buried in a cemetery, I can't stand when people don't make things clear !
Seriously? What don't you get?? She is being formal to distance herself from him. She knows he's a monster. She knows better than you do just how monstrous he is. And do you think it's surprising that a severely traumatized 12 year old girl was not able to give birth to a healthy baby?
Very sad and I am glad that she feels vindicated now. And just think, a child raped and impregnated would be forced to have this man's child in many states today.
Erma- what a well spoken woman. Grateful this act didn’t take your voice from you. Sorry these acts came upon you. Rejoicing in the fact for 40 years he couldn’t do so again.
I can relate to this in a way I was never sexually abused but physically abused by my cousins boyfriend. It took me sending him a threat to where his conscious got to him and he end up taking himself out this world. Sexual abuse and physical abuse stays with children May god 🙏 bless the victims and survivors.
That is so amazing that she testified against him to help put him away and keep him from hurting other people. So many don't testify and as someone who went through the same thing it floors me when people won't do it.
breakdown in communication probably means they lost his records (floods, fires, theft, corruption, who knows) .... you can't hold a guy without proof he should be there. What's wrong with YOU? Why is the world so hard to understand for you people?
