Hey great video! I'm studying more about After Effects and I tried this out and loved it but then I got to thinking and playing around with my project and tried out just duplicating the video then just straight up changed the hue/saturation colors right then and just masked out the rest of everything that I didn't want to be changed, I got the same outcome without using a matte layer so could that be just an easier way to accomplish this? xD Since when I used a matte layer and followed everything, there were still some parts that weren't fully colored so I just tried this and it worked! Thank you for the video though it helped me learn this! :D

Hi! Great video! I've basically gotten to the point where you add the adjustment layer, change the track matte to luma matte matte, but my adjustment layer is white, when your's is black. So when I try to adjust the hue in the adjustment layer, nothing happens. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

How could I differentiate a specific color range that I want to change instead of another similar color range in the area that I dont want to effect?

As soon as you turn the track Matt of the adjustment layer to Luma matt "matt" your screen goes full black, but it doesn't happen in my case and non of the rest of the steps work

you can also put a 3D car with C4D into After effect and change the color setting without affecting the elements in the footage. Mask or rotoscop are limited in precision.

What if then I want to change sth but only in the background? e.g. contrast

My version of Ae doesn't have that 'track matte' thing where you said it was and it pretty much screwed me over. everything is still in black and white.

I've literally ran through this tutorial, over and over, every single step down to an absolute T... and still cannot get the color to change... driving me absolutely bonkers... at the end, when you go back to unhide the main clip I can see that it reappears for you, mine doesnt reappear.

After he went back into the matte layer and turned off keylight and levels, and used the color picker, that is where my project completely screwed up. Oh well. I will see what else I can find.

If I need to draw a 'mosk', even a rough one, I can do this in half the time. The whole point in AE is to find tricks that avoid masking.

Or you can use "Change To Color" effect

I'm sorry but this is not a good tutorial, if you want to do this there is a much better technique using After Effect's rotobrush tool that essentially acts like the magic wand in Photoshop and will automatically adjust the selection's position on all other frames so you don't have to manually redraw each frame. Lookup photoshop rotobrush tutorial

just use hue saturation and bam thats easy
