Tiago Nery hmm... you’ll want to make sure your version of joysticks n sliders is up to date. Next make sure you have the shape layer selected when creating the joystick. Other then that I’m not sure what could be going wrong. Best of luck!

farhad lamei hmm do you have a total of 5 key frames on your shape layer paths? That would be my guess that you don’t have the right amount of key frames but correct me if I’m wrong.

I think you have to individually adjust the 3-4 other mask layers to those 5 keyframes. But I'm only halfway so I'm about to find out.

Hi Cai, I guess this is very close to your tip, but anyway, this is how I do it: Even before animation, I copy the lips with all properties linked: (CMD + ALT + C), and paste with CMD + V. The now new layer I turn into a matte for the upper teeth and then I duplicate this matte layer for the lower teeth and the back of mouth. All three matte layers will update along with the visible lips as you change it's path. So no need to set keyframes for any of the matte layers in the whole process. Hope this helps someone out there! Happy rigging! :)

hi, not an expert here, but my advice would be to create and rig 2 separate mouth rigs with the same attachment to the head but with different mouth positions and switch them on and off.

Thanks for your question. The purpose of this tutorial wasn't to show you how to use "Joysticks n sliders" but more about the key poses I used to rig a mouth with "Joysticks n sliders". There are 5 key poses used to create a rig with "Joysticks n sliders" and you need to keyframe the path/position/rotation ect... of each moving part in order for the joystick to work. So I would suggest making sure you have a keyframe for every moving value in every one of your 5 frames. Or you can check out this tutorial and see how to rig and then come back and see if this video makes a little more sense. Sorry for any confusion, best of luck!

@@GabsMarcoMusic I haven't seen a video that rigs the mouth in the way that I have, so what I would suggest is getting a little bit more familiar with how Joysticks n sliders works then come back to this video and see if it makes more sense. Luiz Fernando I used a plug-in called “joysticks n sliders”. It’s an amazing tool that takes 2D elements in after effects and gives you the ability to fake 3D. I highly recommend it!

ik thats late. jus to help anyone else having the same problem make sure you selected the teeth keyframes with the mouth's while making the joystick that fixed it for me

Update on this: It turns out it was because I was using Adobe 2017 rather than 2018. Turns out that 2017 doesn't allow joysticks to use paths as a manipulation tool. Hopefully for others that come to this, this will help them. Sorry for the rude comment I was just so tired

I have Adobe 2018 and it doesn't work either...! Nothing happens to my shape when I create the joystick. I don't understand if there's any other setting to apply..?

me too.. the path of the shape layer doesn't animate.. only position and rotation.

@@alizulfaqqar I now understand why! It s because the plugins not rendering in real time. You have to do your differents shapes path poses, then use josticknsliders's "create a new joystick button". That allows you to link your joystick to your poses. THEN add your key frames animation on the joystick position, and THEN clic on the refresh button. It will keying every frame of the shape layer path you've created before. So now when you launch your previsualisation it will be animated! ;) Understand?

Hi, from what I can understand about your question it seems your hand movement is very minimal. If this is the case I would suggest NOT doing the complete rig, like I have in this tutorial, but simply animating the rotation of each joint in the thumb. Make sense?

@@backwoodsanimation yes makes sense, but i have png files of the hand and the 3 pngs of different thumb positions. my problem is that i dont understand how to let the other positions disappear but also have a smooth transition between the positions.. sry for the bad english i hope you understand what im trying to say

1) на 1-м кадре выделить все ключи. Нажать "Origin". 2) на 2-ом кадре нажимаем "Origin" и должны появится все ключи. меняем форму рта. И так же на остальных кадрах. 3) Выделяем все 5 кадры и жмем "создать новый джойстик" (под джойстик инструменты). В теории должно получится, но на моей конструкции зубы не двигаются. Напишите, если у вас получится))
