I've heard The Weeknd's music before but I've never fully listened to one of his album projects, but After Hours sure as hell made me realize "Oh, this mf is an artist ARTIST". I study graphic design so seeing the music videos and performances of The Weeknd blew my mind with how much detail he put on making sure everything matches and it has coherence. I can't wait for the next album, specially after the fire that was Dawn FM.
i’m glad that this album got the attention it deserved tho. it’s a beautiful story. i went to the HHN house and it was awesome (i think i went 4 times? i had frequent fear) i even dressed up as him with this suit for my formal dance a few days ago.
I was a senior too bro, shit carried quarantine and made the shittiest year of our grad being cancelled and the whole year generally getting taken away from us a bit better
Blinding Lights is still a song I love blasting. Especially as a huge synthwave music fan. The rest of the album was great and it was cool to see a concept like album from him and create a character out of it
i have been a huge weeknd fan since 2020 and i feel like your videos perfectly reflect his career / success but also the downfalls . i appreciate your content and glad to have you back xotwod
Part of me wants to be salty that you put "XOTWOD" after saying you've been a fan since 2020 But really, I'm just happy the fan base is getting bigger everyday and that people like you can recognize the artistry behind the music. Welcome to XO
@@saturnhawk6115 my bad😭 yea i’m glad abel is being recognized for more than just the “ haunted strip club music “ sanrio and how he is expanding his talents , thank you also
I wasnt a huge fan of The Weeknd, and I rarely enjoy full albums from singers these days, but After hours was such a breathe of fresh air, finally an artist taking a whole body of collection of art seriously, it was a perfect mix of songs belonging together whilst also being distinct enough multiple songs could hold their own as title track, and him personifying the album, I havent seen this since Ed Sheeran Divide album honestly
Benny back witta banger! Your Weeknd content is some of your best imo, I may be biased cuz he’s my favorite artists, but I truly enjoy all the videos you’ve done about him. All your videos are executed and done very well, at the end of the day.
This album dropped on my birthday. It’s crazy I’ve been a fan since 2014 bbtm is amazing kissland is amazing not to mention the trilogy. I remember seeing him live for his starboy tour. Could never imagine how far he’d come with this one. xo
As an artist myself, this record grew on me and it was supposed to be like that i guess. The storyline in songs and music video made this album super interesting. Then he topped it with his apperance and performance. Then he add some features and released dawn fm. This guy is at all time high and i am excited yet sad for next album cause it might be the last one as the weeknd.
I’ll always find it weird that despite The Weeknd having the most streamed song in the world and also now being the most streamed artist ever that overseas he feels less mainstream than people like Ed Sheeran or Dua Lipa. He still feels like a obscure artist to many. I think that’s because despite Songs like Blinding lights, Starboy, In your eyes and more all being pop songs they feel like rnb tracks with a pop sound in them. It isn’t overly produced to sound like the stuff you hear on the radio like other pop songs. And the stories these songs aren’t for the faint of heartz
It’s funny how i thought The Weeknd had way more albums then he actually did (pre After hours) , since he has a lot of older popular songs, then i think i thought that since he was featured on a decent amount of songs. Feels like the Mandela effect lol.
I think the success came from him actually working the album and believing in it. Old school pop star shit but done in todays time. Not many doing that so it’s coming off fresh and new. Dope Album of course. Couldn’t have lasted this long if it wasn’t, but y’all get my point lol
I have been hooked on the Weeknd since i first heard Earned It and for a while now I'm always excited when he releases something new. I enjoy his music and what he puts out. I still listen and love After Hours and Dawn Fm are in my regular rotation.
good to see you uploading again :) ive never been to into the weeknd's music but this video might actually change my mind. video idea - maybe you could do a one about RnB artists / music and how it has changed or increased / decreased in popularity
Couldn’t have said it better myself, there will never be an album like After Hours. That thing was a monster and still has hits that need to be heard. What a phenomenal career that the weeknd has has. best three album run of any artist ever. Insane!
people hate on blinding lights or the weeknd have to be mentally ill. not only is blinding lights the biggest song ever but it debut at 13 and organically climbed to be the biggest and most streamed song ever. his music is so great it pushes through. while having no cultural influence because he stays out of the spotlight until he touched the mic one time and makes one of the biggest songs ever made
After hours is The Weeknd’s thriller equivalent After hours saved me after a horrible relationship… helped me when I was alone also, the album really is amazing
Come on bro, After Hours was not his first album that told a story through videos and the music itself. Literally every album he has put out told a narrative.
ehh... kinda... loosely... not as strong as after hours is what i meant. Even an album like House Of Balloons, for as much as it is a great album/mixtape the story is only loosely connected. It isn't as linear as After hours is, and what happens in track 1 doesnt play into what happens in track 7
@@KingBenny I can agree that the narrative in his music is a lot more obvious in after hours and Dawn fm but he has been doing it since kissland although with his older albums you might need to see all his music videos to pick up on the storyline he’s telling. He really picked up on the narrative based videos on BBTM. And I’m regards to trilogy, I don’t think those told a story as much as they just shared a common theme.
In short after hours is special because this is the first album done with no sexual with other girl others have not actually after hours continues from my dear melancholy so after hours is version of my dear melancholy and still he is Starboy still but not we know from the past cause Selena already killed his heart so that is why I feel it coming is last in Starboy and next with call out my name then after Lot day to be far from sex he escaped LA but he can't go without it so that he wanted to destroy what he have done in after hours and the dawn does it
