"To me dying first, cheers"
After Life an amazing and realistic show. It speak very close to my heart as I myself lost someone I loved with all my heart a few years ago. I know a lot of us can relate to this, as most of us went through this. Thank you for all the support, you are all my peace and I'll keep making more and more videos.

Whether it's deep or not isn't the point. It's relatable and realistic. It's not the big events one necessarily misses. It's the everyday. Waking up next to one another. Eating in silence but together. Enjoying each others presence. It does more for the soul than you realise until they are gone. Knowing companionship and that whatever happens you have someone who loves you by your side. Even if it's just to lie in bed and look out the window, or make stupid jokes together or go for a walk. These are the everyday things that make up life.

People just turn into pure, positive love & focus on their loved ones and wish we could feel that same level of Joy too ♥ There is no such thing as "death", just a transforming into who we really are. He was with you, he is with you, you still have him I promise :* And I think he's telling me to write this to you, as I feel his Joy that you are aware of this fact! ♥ ♥

It will be if you let Jesus into it! Please allow me to share my best friend's story with you. This family truly knows where to turn in times of grief. Family Story Little did our family of six know that Friday evening, September 24th, 2021, would be the last night our family would be complete. We laughed together, played games, sang, and enjoyed listening as our 16-year-old son, Ethan, played the piano for us. I packed a lunch for Ethan for a church mountain hike he was going on the following day. My mother (who was visiting from out of state) and I woke early with Ethan on Saturday morning. He hugged me and smiled, never pulling away or rushing me. He got in the car, waved, said he'd see me later and he loved me. It was hard to watch my "new driver" heading out on his own that morning. As Ethan pulled out of the gate, I turned to my mother and said, "It's just so hard letting go." Little did I know how much "letting go" I was really doing. That was the last time I saw Ethan. He did not make it home that evening. That afternoon, a friend tried to contact my husband, leaving an urgent message to call him back. He tried several times to return the call to no avail. As we were preparing supper, an overwhelming feeling of deep concern for Ethan filled my heart. I quietly blinked back tears. I glanced out the window, half expecting to see a police officer pull up to the house, but no one arrived. However, within a few minutes, a patrol car DID pull into the driveway. In my heart, I feared the worst. My husband and I went out to meet the officer, who confirmed our fears. Hesitantly, he told us our son had fallen off of a bluff and had succumbed to his injuries. Our hearts were crushed; they still are. Yet, in all of our brokenness, deep, continual grief and loneliness, our family has such a blessed Hope and assurance that we will see our dear son and brother again. You see, when Ethan was a young boy, he was saved; he put his faith in Jesus alone to forgive his sins and to take him to Heaven when he died. He realized some very important truths from the Bible that he would want to share with you. His Story Everyone is a sinner. Sin is any violation of God’s Law. God is holy, just and righteous, and He cannot allow sin in His presence. Ethan realized that he - like all of us - had sinned; and his sin separated Him from God. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; ” (Romans 3:23) “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:” (Romans 5:12) He understood that, because of his sin, he deserved to spend eternity in Hell. “For the wages of sin is death;” (Romans 6:23a) [Wages: price] “But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8) Ethan believed that Jesus, God’s Son, paid the price for all sin when He died on the cross - because His sinless sacrifice was the only thing that could satisfy the just demands of a righteous, holy God. Jesus was buried in a borrowed tomb, but He arose the third day, triumphant over sin, death, and Hell. Jesus is alive today! “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16) “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9) Ethan was sorry for his sin, repented (turned), and received by faith the free gift that God offered to him. “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13) “...but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” (Romans 6:23b) Because of this great salvation, Ethan lived his life serving Jesus. He worked hard to spread this Good News to the world. He is alive in Heaven with Jesus today; and because of this great HOPE in Christ, we know we will see him again soon - not because he was a great kid, but because of his faith in the great Saviour! “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.” (John 10:28) Your Story What about you? What if you had fallen to your death that day - What if you were to die today? Where will you spend eternity - Heaven or the Lake of Fire? There will not be any parties in the Lake of Fire. It is a place of eternal torment for those who reject God's Son. The Word of God is very clear that there is only One Way to Heaven. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6) We did not know that Ethan would step into eternity that day; however, because he put his faith in Jesus alone for his salvation, Ethan was ready to go. Some day - perhaps today - you will take your last breath here on earth, and you will step into eternity. Where you spend eternity is determined by what you do with Jesus Christ. Will you accept Him or reject Him? You are not promised another day or another breath. Eternity begins soon - Are you ready? “...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved…” (Acts 16:31b) “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” (Romans 10:13) “(...behold, now is the day of salvation.)” (2 Corinthians 6:2c) ****************************** This testimony has been made into a tract form as well, so if you or your church are interested in having them to pass out, please go to libertyfaith.net and you will find the contact info there. Almost 8 years now, and I still cry. I still only sleep on my side of the bed. I still brew coffee for two. The habits I have from her, I keep to help me feel her. I know every husband thinks their wife is the most beautiful woman in the world. And while she was, *so* beautiful, I couldn't believe how fast it didn't even matter. I'll watch *her* favorite movies now, even though I didn't like them, *then* , I love them now. Anytime I think of ending it all. I don't mean a fleating thought, I mean really ending it... I'll dream about her, and she tells me to hold on and wait. It'll be hard, but just wait. And I'll get to see her again. We believed that in every life, we found each other. God, I miss her so much still. So much. She looked like a young Michelle Pfeiffer with brown hair and pink Czech skin. She was so funny. I make people laugh every minute they're around me. And no one would describe her as funny. But around me, she was the funny one. I miss her so much. Those bright grey blue eyes. That smile where I could tell she was clenching her teeth because she wanted to hug me. We fit each other so perfectly.

My mom passed away a month ago today. She was my best friend, my every-single-day text & phone call, shared every single thing with each other, and I feel like part of my heart is missing. I’m numb to every single thing in life. I don’t have any friends or anyone that understands, as my sister has a full life & family of her own that I don’t exist within. My mom was the only one who ever accepted me 100% as I am, loved me unconditionally, and never had a single bad word for me. Everyone in my area either thinks I am a freak or insignificant & I don’t serve a single function anymore - as am not helping keep her going with health care or a laugh or being there for her on the phone/in person. My purpose in life was to be the best daughter FOR her & I fulfilled that role. Now I just wait for my life to come to an end so maybe if something does exist beyond this, I can be there with her again. Toni - you are so deeply missed & I am sorry I never made anything of myself but your person you could always count on. I wish you were here instead of me 💔

Hi. You will never be the same. It's not possible. You can be better, but it is a real hard climb down the long decline. The important thing is people, people who just are there, they listen in silence, without judgement or bias. One of my oldest friends, just listened to me one day at work. Just sat there, didn't say anything. But she was there, and I decided not to kill myself after my wife died because I knew there was hope. Good people are all around, in silence they stand guard and offer hope. Your loss will likely save someone else, someone you don't even know yet. Hope is worth fighting for.

@@kenadams5504 Give your heart to Jesus, He loves you more than you can possibly know. God bless! Tribute to Ethan Lakey ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EhobcQZ6Qb8.html

The worst part in loving someone so deeply, is that we attach and identify ourselves with the other person, that when we lose that person, we also lose ourselves. You don't know if you should feel happy for crossing paths with them, or feel misery for having to part again, it's just bittersweet.

You've summed it up so well. When someone we're closely bonded to and love with all our heart dies, we lose the life we had with them, as well as the person. We feel totally lost, left behind and wondering why we're here and why they no longer are, wondering what we're meant to do.

Then we will see our loved ones again and be with them when we return to the light. It's not easy i know, but it's how I see my own situation.

This show is so underrated. Its not only hilarious, but so sad. The writing is fantastic and the acting is even better. Ricky Gervais gives an outstanding performance, as well does all the other actors. The way its shows how it feels like to lose a loved one, or in general just grief, is so accurate. One of the best shows on Netflix.

My grandmother just died very recently, a few moments after I finished answering the quiz our professor gave for our business communication course, tonight, before 11 pm in our country. The last time I visited my grandmother was months ago, and the rest of the time that I had were all dedicated to my personal, academic and extra-curricular duties and responsibilities at home and college. I am in my early 20s and as of this writing, I feel emotionless -- 'twas all so sudden. I am not that sure if I can attend to my online classes the next day. I honestly don't know. I can only remember the smiles that my bedridden grandmother gave to me, to us. I don't know what to do, I just love my grandma but I lamented the lost time I could have spent at least for some time to visit her. I don't know if I can blame myself for not doing what I should have done when I had the chance, when all the stresses and pressures of the world cling on to your shoulders. I seriously don't know, but I hope I can move forward, nonetheless. I hope that even if my grandma rests in peace, all of us can finally live in peace knowing that my grandma is now free from pain and sadness. I know that this will never be read by many, but I mattered less to it, I just cannot find a proper way for me to express myself since I am not that good to express something to family and to other people. I am missing her now. Thanks, grandma, for making us happy notwithstanding everything. I hope you, too, as well.

I hope you are better and honoring her by forgiving yourself. Hindsight is brutal, and sometimes it lies. You love your grandma. Your emotion and authentic reaction are solid proof of that. I lost a family member today. I am 21. We know everyone we love will die, but we can’t spend our lives being with them every second so we don’t feel guilty if they pass. It is confusing. This hard truth doesn’t feel right. Yet, it is also a comforting. All we can do is try to love and live the best we can. You did not fail yourself or your grandma. We must be thankful that we have beautiful people to love. Remember them and learn from them. In some ways we are all lessons for others to learn from if they choose. Adopt the traits you loved in your grandma. Remember your finest moments. This is how I think people and life share their beauty. I hope you stay strong and well

We were together in out early 20s and then came back together 2 years before her death. I was the rare person who actually got back their "one that got away" only to have her taken away 6 weeks before I was going to propose to her (Her Birthday). Whatever you are doing right now...stop..express to the person that you love how much you value them. Take as many pictures together as you can. If you don’t feel like you have anything left to give. You do. This life is a constant battle of strength, especially in this time with how bad everything seems to be with no end in sight; but the important part is that it is a battle indeed. That means it can be won. Don’t give up when it gets difficult or when things seem too hard, because that’s when your strength is going to matter the most. I’m not going to give you the “you have so many people to live for that love you” facade because I don’t know you or what you’ve been through, but what I can tell you is that you have yourself to live for. You were given a life, as hard as it may be at times, and you owe it to yourself to not give up when things are at their worst. Keep fighting. I’ve been where you are, thinking there’s nothing left, at least nothing worth staying around for, and believe me when I tell you i was dead wrong. But you have to change your mindset; stop thinking that you’re done or that it’s too much or that the only way out is to end everything, because that completely denies and ignores the strength that you were birth with. Find that inner strength and hold on tight because it will carry you farther than you ever thought possible. It won’t be easy, I can promise you that it will be harder than many will ever know, but it’s worth every single second of it. One day you’ll look back at your life and realize that you fought when it didn’t seem like you had an ounce of yourself left to give, and you made it through. You can. I hope you make the right decision and keep fighting for yourself, because it is possible and it is worth it.

What I wouldn't give for one of those days again. It's been three years and I am just learning to smile and laugh again, but the pain is still very real. I'm lost, alone and in pain, but also knowing they are too makes it all the worse. We shared an understanding of eachother that no one else has, yet right now I have no idea what they are thinking. I've lost the person that I just enjoyed doing nothing with.

Give your heart to Jesus! Have you ever heard of the World Death Clock? It is a counter that calculates deaths per second, minute, hour, day, month and year based on records and statistics. It says that on average, over 150,000 people die every day and 56 million every year and I'm sure it is unable to keep up with all the recent war and riots happening. It is sobering to watch the numbers constantly climbing every second knowing those numbers mean the loss of lives. What if the next number was yours? Could you say that you are 100% sure that you would have a home in heaven? What are you basing that on? If you are basing it on anything other than your faith in the finished work of Jesus on the cross, you do not understand God's way to heaven. The Bible says that we are all sinners. When God created Adam and Eve, He made them perfect without sin, but they chose to disobey God and became sinful in nature. This sin nature was passed down to all humanity. Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned: Our sin separates us from God. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; A holy, righteous God cannot allow sin into heaven. Sin must be paid for and God's price for sin is death, but not just a physical death, but a spiritual death which means separation from God forever in hell. Revelation 21:8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. In the Old Testament when man sinned, God required the sacrifice of a perfectly spotless lamb as a substitute in the place of the sinner. The blood of that lamb was only a temporary payment for their sin and so this had to be done often. Jesus Christ, God's Son took on flesh, was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life and offered Himself as that perfect, spotless Lamb and shed His blood as payment for the sins of the whole world. John 1:29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. Jesus loved us so much He WILLINGLY came and allowed wicked men to spit on Him, mock Him and scourge Him until He was unrecognizable. They stripped him naked, thrust a crown of thorns on His head and nailed His hands and feet to a cross. He hung in agony for hours bleeding, thirsting, struggling for every breath. He died innocently in our place so that we could be saved from going to hell. It was His blood that satisfied the just demands of a holy God. God will not accept anything else. There is no greater love than that! John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. The good news is that Jesus didn't stay dead in the grave. He came back to life 3 days later just like He promised and He still lives today! Matthew 28:5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. 6. He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. Jesus did all this because He wants to give you the FREE gift of eternal life in heaven with Him! You cannot do anything to earn your own way into heaven. You can't work for it, be baptized for it, go to church for it or try to be good enough for it. It is a FREE gift that God is offering to anyone who will simply receive it by faith. Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9. Not of works, lest any man should boast. God said there is only one way to get to heaven, but it is not hard. You must repent, change your mind and admit you are a sinner headed for hell. You must believe that Jesus died and paid for your sin with His own blood on the cross, was buried and 3 days later rose from the dead. Then you must simply call on Him and ask Him to save you. Romans 10:9 that if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 13. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. None of us deserve God's mercy and grace, but let me warn you that if you reject His FREE gift, you are already condemned and when you die, you will suffer the torment of burning in hell for eternity in a lake of fire where you will be forever separated from God and all that is loving and good. John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. Revelation 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire. Please don't wait. Don't take the risk of putting it off until another day, repent, turn to Christ NOW wherever you are at because you aren't guaranteed to live another day on this Earth. Believe God's Word, ask Him to save you and He will! ---------------------------------------------------------------- If you would like more information or don't have a church to attend, we livestream our services and would love for you to join us. My sister and I are twins. She’s still here, still doing her best- but she’s been going through grief since I moved out. I know she misses me just- being there. I want to spend more time with her, but my whole life suddenly bloomed after I left. New people. New experiences. New things to do. I feel guilty every time I think about it. I love her like any sibling should, and it hurts that much more because we are/were so close.

April 27, 2021. I got a call from the hospital saying “Your dad has passed away. Please come and collect his body.” He was in the hospital for 14 days. I couldn’t see him, because he was Covid positive. Wasn’t allowed to get inside the hospital. Don’t know what sort of pain he went though. A friend recommended this series. It was like, getting a small comfortable space while I grieve. It made me laugh, cry, emotional, everything at the same time. I know I won’t see my dad, but I definitely will see life in a different way. Thank you to everyone who was involved in making this series. You all reside somewhere in my heart.

Just finished watching the second series of After Life. If you’re not familiar with it, it’s written by Ricky Gervais, and it’s a small ensemble cast. It’s about a bloke whose wife died of cancer, and it’s just him and his dog. He’s a writer, for a local freebie newspaper, and it’s really just about him surviving. It’s one of the most powerful pieces of television that I’ve ever seen, and I honest to god don’t know how Gervais has managed to so perfectly summarise death, loss and grief in the way that he has. It’s astonishing, and it’s a huge rollercoaster, written so deftly, so precisely it continually takes my breath away. There is humour, of a sort, but it’s very gentle and observational. The main element however is the shocking total power of grief and loss. Scene after scene it’s perfectly put together, and you just have time to lift your head out of the water before you get body slammed once again on the beach, as the sheer enormity of loss crashes down, wave after wave. The main character is just a normal guy, coming to grips not only with the loss of his wife, but learning to understand what it has done to him, and how it has changed him. While he has friends and family who he appreciates they are mainly ciphers through which he translates his grief, and it’s really his dog who gives his life meaning. The relationship between man and animal, two souls together is another central plank of the series. Without the dog the character would have given up, but he’s not given a choice. There are some moments of raw intensity that are almost impossible to watch - I’m not sure as an outsider who hasn’t experienced the events shown it’s possible to fully appreciate them - but they are without a shadow of a doubt the most searingly and agonising accurate portrayals of grief I have ever seen on television. If you want to understand bereavement and loss this will give you a working knowledge. Until I watched the two series I hadn’t really given Gervais much thought, and I wasn’t especially taken with any of his other television work like The Office or Extras. However, he has such a depth of understanding which he can display with very sparse use of words and actions, I can’t praise him highly enough. Remarkable television.

God bless! Tribute to Ethan Lakey ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-EhobcQZ6Qb8.html
