Klein is mad underrated, He ran a frontliner guild that’s always in every floor boss while at the same time managing to keep his entire group of friends alive until Kirito cleared the game, he’s a real bro
Kirito was not “overconfident and cocky” he only acted like that to get the blame off the beta testers and preventing them from turning against each other.
No, he is cocky. He does think he can do things other people cannot do, like that time at the world tree. He thought the system and its rules don't apply to him. But not in the sense of haters who say he is emo, blank and solos everything so that's why he is Overconfident and cocky.
RIP Sachi, that part definitely hit the hardest in the anime. Was definitely a shocking and depressing mini arc for Kirito and only solidified him continuing to be a solo player
@@twistedlight3432 I’d argue it did. I mean, he went so far to acquire the revival item over his guilt over the death of the black cats and Sachi, in order to atone for his lie that indirectly led to their death. It’s reason enough for anyone to acquire such an item to at least atone or come to terms with in the midst of grief and denial that their blood was on his hands this time
@@twistedlight3432 I suppose, but Sachi was clearly a bystander in which she did not want to die, and seemed to be dragged in against her will. She was confronting her humanity and realizing, that at her base. She just didn’t want to die because she was enjoying what she thought was a harmless game. Sure Yuuki did it as well, but her death was examined through the eyes of someone who knew their time was on a clock and was simply trying to make every moment count. Sachi never had that. It was stripped from her
SAO will forever be one of my favorite animes...all I cried tears and I genuinely feel like I grown with the characters and it just makes me feel so warm because at the end of the day even with all the VR trauma they've endured and all of the separation they've never gave up and if they did there was always even if 1 person to help them..
"I reject your reality, *AND SUBSTITUTE MY OWN!"* "Nice, _Dungeonmaster!"_ "What? No, _Myth Busters._ What the Hell is _Dungeon Master?"_ "Oh. I was so happy there for a second."
3:30 Kirito did that not because he was overconfident, but because he didn't want beta testers to keep receiving the brunt of the hate when most weren't serious gamers and didn't really have an advantage. By boasting he reached floor 8 in the beta, he was tanking all of the hate from assholes in the raid, and as a solo player he was okay with that. Probably the only good piece of character development from S1 LOL
18:35 time does not slow down, it was meant to show that Heathcliff's movement was faster than normal. After the guard break, Heathcliff enters a 'staggered' state where he cannot move for a certain amount of time. The system itself does not allow him to move, not his own competence. That's why it is later revealed he had to use system assists move that fast.
People hate on Sao way too much because of the fairy Arc Even though there were some pretty good fights and season 3 is like watching a whole new series it's amazing especially the war of underworld arc it's insane in both plot and animation People are missing out on the best parts of sao sure it's got it's flaws but what anime doesn't?
People don’t hate on it pure,y because of the Fairy part, but rather the wasted potential of the Aincrad arc. I guess there are the progressive novels and the movie though, but I haven’t seen them yet.
He is not stronger than the final boss even with dual-wielding activated. He only managed to get a draw from him and its even with the help of Asuna. He was lucky the final boss died faster than him. And on the training mishap, Asuna wasn't following them but monitoring through the map, she rushed from the guild's base the moment the Godfree's presence disappeared from the map. That's how fast she is - the formula for the berserk healer.
wasnt the final boss a giant mermaid fairy being on the floor 100 (also was that in the actual game) meaning the dual skill is just a skill that becomes less powerful later down the line (just like irl MMOs where a strong skill is only strong on a very specific floor or level and just becomes a normal skill later down the line.) Either way it all just depends on the player controlling the skill just like IRL gamers it takes alot of practice and skill to kill specific enemies solo and they have the advantage of not only having 1 life on a game (like once u die u can no longer play that game) Even if its just plot armor Kirito still manage to "solo"(or deal the most damage maybe around 90% of the enemy health) on a game where soloing bosses normally means death and it was the LATEST boss meaning he had to learn its patterns on the fly with no prior experience as a gamer I think that was amazing.
@@KiotheCloud No, I think this guy was talking about Gleam eyes. If that's the case, then it was more like 40% since not only did have help from Klein and Asuna, there were also those idiots that nearly got themselves killed. Sure, maybe it does become a normal skill eventually, [A normal skill that only he has] You still have to factor in the fact that he was one of the most powerful frontliners out there, along with Asuna and Klein [Who again, helped with the boss fight]. And even if it's the final boss [Ordinal scale final boss], he still had the help of everyone to take it down. It would literally be impossible to take down if it was in Aincrad since they needed to fly to even kill it. It was way too OP which is why Kayaba planned on replacing it. Err yeah sorry for the essay.
OH wait a second, I GET IT NOW! Why are you people referring to Kayaba Akihiko as [The final boss]? This is incredibly misleading! Basically, he tied with Kayaba who replaced the final boss and became the final boss himself. Kirito lagged the system long enough and remained alive just to stab Kayaba, and ending the fight in a draw. Seriously, [Final boss] no wonder you were confused lol just say Kayaba Akihiko to avoid confusion for chris' sake!
It's hard to fathom that this masterpiece was just 12 episodes. SAO's world building was truly magical. It really felt like you were in the game... idk what's about it, or what's so different about it and the typical "isekai" but every danger here truly felt real. Dying because you are a noob. Getting Pk'ed. Getting Pk'ed in town. Getting betrayed. Etc. etc. I just also love the fact that in an "isekai" some people just wanted to be normal. Became a blacksmith, or a merchant, or just a villager. Though I just generally confer that every "overpowered" protag is cringe... I felt that the slow build up and pairing him with Asuna was just the right combination to make it feel "alright" and not some eyeroll shit. *DEFINITELY* watch this if you have the time. It's truly a roller coaster of emotions. If I could just rewatch this for the first time, I would gladly do it a fuck ton of times.
@@deltion4126 theres more to SAO. sure, its sad its not as good as it was in the first part of SAO, but theres ALO too, Then theres the Recap Movie of SAO and ALO, then theres SAO 2, Gun Gale Online (GGO) then SAO Ordinal Scale, then SAO Alicisation, and theres more to the SAO Alicisation series, but then thats it. theres not much of a point tho, you could just end SAO at the end of SAO, or the end of ALO, thats a perfect finishing point coz after that, no Elucidator Sword or Dark Repulsor Sword and hardly anything about Asuna. its just Kirito running through RPG MMOS being hounded by hot chicks because hes a protagonist.
@@deltion4126 do i need to watch gun gale online to understand and watch Alicisation? Coz I really don't feel like watching that arc, unless it gets better.
@diament I think he was talking about the crusade against Laughing Coffin where twenty-one red players died, or on the first day where he was indirectly responsible for Coper's death.
well in mmos you can speed run end game level and then to level beyond that it takes you a lifetime guess he just took shortcuts to be ahead of everyone
@@abderrahmanlahiaouni9172 it's an anime first and foremost, no one wants to see him grind but there should have been at least a1 episode of him training and and fighting monsters of various levels with a handful of timeskips to show massive jumps in levels. Him going from 1- 15-50-100- final current level could have been interesting..but then that kinda screws up the 2nd episode's twist so idk now lol
The reason Kirito not only he wanted to use his hidden skill meaning(Starbust Stream),but he wanted to Believe and to save Asuna in order to increase his HP Level 76-96, and still train to become the MOST powerful Player that anyone would stand in his way and the one's he MOST LOVES care about!!
I remember watching SAO when I was like 11 or 12. I'm 16 now. A lot has happened in the past 3 years but MAN when I watched this video I got so many memories. Thanks for this video
SAO will be my favourite anime. Everything about is spectacular. From the story to animation to character development to world building to fights. It is the best and the first session brings out a lot of emotions. Can never forget.
Ngl, it was really a good anime, a really good for starters, with decent fanservice and straight storyline without too much flashback This is what i like in sao.
It was good because it was the first to do it good for an anime. When you think about it, it's heavy plot armor for Kiroto. Suppose to have 100 floors and skip a lot of them and rush to the last boss around floor 60-70 (forgot the number). Never shows how he got stronger and everyone acts like they never played a mmorpg. But somehow able to beat the last boss with the swords he started off with and also magically hack the game. I love the show at first but after looking back, it was the first of its kind and that's what made it good.
It could've been both... And people say Kirito is OP when he never manages to accomplish anything by himself. He always needs somebody to help him and save his ass.
@@ihatefridays2715 "Kirito is totally OP" While stronger than the background characters, he's never the strongest in the room and always needs tons of help to accomplish anything. He's usually weaker than all the main villains save for one, and isn't even the strongest of the main cast (Zekken beat him both times, Eugeo was mentioned to have gotten better at swordfighting and sacred arts, et cetera.,) Dude even becomes a vegetable for two seasons.
He was paralyzed and literally couldn’t use it. Kirito also WASNT REVIVED. He just got a couple seconds of i frames and didn’t die right away like he was supposed to. People didn’t fail to notice the revive item. It was never used.
@@spiralphoenix9839 Will actually can affect engine main AI, and this AI can affect the game, so... Yeah, he cheated by abusing this. This bug was revealed in Alicization.
It shocks me that everyone wasn’t grinding the weak unthreatening enemies till they were max level You can still upgrade enemies but only when you are extremely over levelled for them
That wouldn’t make a good though… but yeah, in theory if everyone grounded to be around the similar strength as Kirito, then people would be soloing floor bosses, and easily clear the game.
There’s a limited amount of enemies on each floor. This is to ensure that people can’t just stay in one floor and grind. All the enemies in the first few floors were already cleared.
@@benitomussolini7436 Ah yes, I totally wish to become a vegetable and have to depend on others for several months without doing anything wrong of my own.
@@benitomussolini7436 Personally I don't see estranging yourself from your real family for years and then coming back with severe PTSD as wish fulfillment.
It won't be long now. November sixth isn't that far away. I liked this anime immediately once I saw it! I really like how they keep the world all mysterious by not showing most of the game content.
the show was full of plot armor like magically growing limbs back or power of friendship magic cheese. full of oversights too and dumb character decisions. however the proximity to peril was so tight that it made the relationships between the characters seem so vibrant and meaningful. that is what made the show tear inducing.
Bro you can't even imagine how much I love this anime I watched this anime 3 times can you imagine. this anime is big but I was not satisfied so first time I watched this I didn't quite understand the story but second time I understand a little bit but third time I fully understand it even tho I understand the the story second time. that's how much I loved this anime
SAO is one of the best animes for simps. The amount of tsundare's in the anime is legit infinite but the alcization arc is sooooooo good a very reccomended anime for evryone. Btw the romance is also awesome so if ur a creep u need to watch sao

I didn't know it took place in this year, that weird we don't even have this technology, not yet though and hopefully nothing like being stuck in VR won't happen
Title of the video is misleading. He was never stronger than the final boss. Though ultimately the boss was defeated, he needed help and was clearly outmatched.
Ummmm yes he did get stronger than the final boss as Kirito was dead but brought himself back to life just to kill the final boss therefore being stronger than him
@@ihavegodandanimeonmyside7042 Just because you beat somebody doesn't mean you're stronger than them. Kirito needed help to beat him, therefore he was not stronger than the final boss alone.
Ngl i put off watching this show for the longest time cuz i thought it was over hyped but decided to give it a go few years back and have no regrets since. Deff became one of my anime of all time along side with a handful of anime that I consider my all time fav. Yes there are some questionable and weird plot in this show but overall it is great. I do wish there were more eps of them when stuck in the game but still a gem. Deff lots of great plots to absorb
I'd recommend watching the actual show too. Seeing Kirito undergo a character arc where he slowly starts to regain his trust in humanity again and become less of an unbearable asshole than how he started out as was one of the highlights to the show. Not to mention that the final battle uses the shows' actual opening theme _"This Is War"_ really sells it for many anime goers.
I didn't even notice Eugeo's Red Rose Sword in the thumbnail until you mentioned it being from Alicization. You can get confused between Season 1 Part 1 and Alicization because he even uses his SAO character style in the battles sometimes in Alicization if you get close-up photos like the one on this video. Good eyesight!
I'll always remember SAO for dropping the ball by rushing through the first game. that journey could've easily been 3-4 seasons, but instead it's only half of season 1
The original light novel/2001 short story was even shorter. I read through it a few months ago, and it goes like: Floor 75 > Kayaba's Floor 1 announcement > Floor 74 (dual blade + KoB stuff) -> Ending on 75. The reason why it was so short was because it was initially a short story contest submission.
@@edcaous they definitely should've extended it for the official manga & anime. The first game is my favorite part of the entire story, the rest just becomes eh
@@Karnagie Yeah, but I'm glad that in the movie we at least got to see what the final floor in the game looked like because that's obviously what we speculated the anime would lead up to, which it did but not in the way we had thought at the beginning of the anime.
This series made me realize that all you need sometimes to cry your heart out is to hear an AI say "Papa! Mama!" or to have someone hum a Christmas song at you.
I admit, I enjoyed season 1 But the rest is a dumpster fire, but I owe SAO for the nostalgia, it was one of my first animes, the concept was genuinely intriguing, the execution on the whole Elf arc is questionable And man Kirito really has the generic design I've ever seen, I used to think he was hot back then, and I based that off of Subaru from Re:Zero (Which was my first anime) Opening still slaps I admit, LiSa never disappoints
To be honest with you the lastest seasons with Eugeo and Alice have in my opinion salvaged the series somewhat, It will never have the raw impact of the first arc but good none the less.
That was only a recap of the first HALF of season ONE. After that, it moves to more real-world scenes, and a new MMO: Alfheim Online (ALO). Season two takes place in Gun Gale Online (GGO), and Season 3 onward is in a new place altogether: Underworld.
The anime is a joke anyway... Only focusing on one character and making EVERYONE ELSE Support characters with Little to no Backstory (Until GGO-Second Half where Asuna Gets to swap places with Kirito for a bit). Seriously What can you tell me about EACH of the MAIN CAST During Each arc... Seriously All the Girls "In LOVE with Kirito and Friend to Asuna/Kirito" Fits into the Characterization as the only trait about them... Other than their Class of character for the First Few parts of the anime... Including His "Cousin/Sister" in the Alfheim Arc. The anime OVERLY FOCUSES on Kirito... Remove Kirito and you would not have Sword Art Online... that simple... He embodies the Jesus-kun Trope, Which is a bad trope to have in an anime about an MMO... Let's Take another Anime Overlord for example, MMO where Main character is Trapped in it after the game shuts down... Everyone Exists to Serve Ainz However the other characters HAVE actual Character and Reason to be there... Overall SAO is one of the WORST ANIME EVER to exist... If you want to watch the Overpowered Trope in and MMO done Right... Might I suggest "I don't want to get hurt, So I will Max out my Defense"/"Bofuri" Seriously though Don't waste time with SAO... it is horrible.
@@AaronWGaming _"Little to no Backstory"_ Braindead comment, all the later characters had more backstory than the earlier ones. They all have a basis for why they act the way they do, from Sinon's trauma with guns, Eugeo's lonely and neglected childhood, the various upbringings of the academy students, and Yuuki's incurable illness. And embodiment of the "Jesus-kun" trope? Does Jesus need assistance to win any of the decisive battles and afterwards goes into a coma for a full season? Jesus must lose a lot. Overlord is alright, but the characters are more dependent on Ainz than Kirito. You probably don't see it because you're blind, but remove a random subordinate from Overlord and the overall plot doesn't change. Remove a named girl in SAO and the story goes in a completely different direction. Seriously though, that comment was entirely BS.
@@AaronWGaming Wrong again. I refuted everything you said. My points were that all the characters in SAO had interesting motivations and interactions while your own examples not so much.
@@ihatefridays2715 Uh....Kirito is not lazy? The man who can literally sleep anywhere, and WILL sleep anywhere? The man who doesn't even like going outside unless someone drags him out? Need I go on? Because I will go on.
It's really annoying how the blood haters keep calling him Jesus kun an op when really he wasn't just because he was a highher level the other pleyars and Evan when he had to convert he always needed help from others in order to win that doesn't sound over powered to me.
It does to me. Remember when he wrecked those noobs? So overpowered mehn! And remember that time he released recollection that one guy into a tree with his overpowered wooden sword? So Overpowered maehn! Let's all ignore all of the times he nearly failed because that doesn't matter at all!
Him defiting noobs is supposed to be overpowered seriously and he didn't relace recollect anyone he was connected to the mai visualiser so he cod recover which mabi consider overpowered tho even that is basically nitpicking oh and as for the last part he is the hero of the story afcourse he has to win in the end.
Oh boy! What a badass anime, that respects its female characters and doesn't have any weird tropes like incest I can't wait to see what the next season is like
The narration & in-depth discrepancies presented within this recap is jarring & nothing short of AMAZING. But i discern/recommend that more in-depth minor additions in the script, adding more emotional details, values & feelings the protagonists are enduring will usher a stronger, more emotional viewer-to-character attachment. Besides that, this recap was EXCELLENT! Well done.
My hope is that SAO Progressive will get people to start liking the series again. Now, if only they'd release it on streaming or in the FUCKING U.S. ALREADY!!!! WHAT IS TAKING THEM SO LONG?!!!
dude wait wtf I j just realized that the day when Kirito goes into SAO is the EXACT day that season 5 is supposed to launch. It was supposed to launch November 6, 2022
